Rate this book
Phoenix is gone, and Danielle is done with General Cobra and his Alpha Squad. But it turns out they’re not done with her. The squad has unfinished business with her estranged husband, Max, and she’s the only one who can help.

Danielle wants to be free of them, and free of Max. So she agrees to one last mission.

Once again, Danielle finds herself tangled in a web of suspicion, lies, and divided loyalties. Her husband doesn’t want to let her go, the squad doesn’t trust her, and as for Cobra . . . their chemistry may be as explosive as ever, but she has no idea how he really feels about her.

My only regret in reading Snake Bite, the first book in the Alpha Squad series, and Retribution, the second, is that now I have to wait to read more of the story. I kind of wish I’d waited till it was done and then binge-read it because I absolutely love the story and the characters, especially the sexy and dangerous Alejandro aka General Cobra. The books are an adrenaline and hormone jolt, and who doesn’t need both occasionally? :-)

In Retribution, Danielle (first introduced as the amnesiac Phoenix in Snake Bite) is on the run from both her evil husband, Max, and from the squad she was part of in Snake Bite. But the squad finds her, and after a short fight, they overcome her and take her back with them to their New Mexico base. They need her to help capture Max before he sells his memory-wiping drug to the highest bidder.

The action is nonstop and the sexual tension between Danielle and the squad’s leader, Cobra (real name Alejandro—can’t you just imagine murmuring that as you snuggle up against him?) is like an electrical current running through the book. Is this series plot-driven or character-driven? I’d say an equal mix of both, but for me, the characters are what really stands out with their intense feelings of love, lust, friendship, betrayal, and greed. None are all good or all bad, and that makes them them real to the reader. I’d recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a high-action story with characters you wish existed in real life.

What a great follow-up to book 1! After reading the first book in the series I found myself deeply invested in the main heroine, Danielle (aka Phoenix) and couldn’t wait to find out what happens to her next. To my greatest pleasure, in Book 2 she is once again reunited with her former squad and is tasked with stopping her ex-husband (well, almost ex) from selling his dangerous invention to someone who would quite possibly use it as a weapon instead of its original purpose.
This new installment is full of tension, and action scenes follow one another making it impossible to put the book down even for one moment. Danielle’s inner struggle, just like her attempts of reconciliation with her squad members, is wonderfully executed, making her even more likable and sympathetic to the reader. Both books would make a first-class action movie! Highly recommended to all fans of the genre.

The adrenaline rush of a roller coaster ride

I am totally hooked on this exciting series. The pace is unrelentingly fast, with twists and turns guaranteed to keep the pages turning. Danielle AKA Phoenix is reluctantly back with her former squad. They still need her help to bring in her husband before his memory-wiping formula can be sold to the highest criminal bidder. But at what cost? All the gains she’s made could be lost forever. I can’t wait to start the next in the series and find out where their mission takes Alpha Squad next!

WOW,what a mindblowing story this is turning out to be! There’s not one dull moment, not one! And the twists and turns keep coming! I love Danielle/Phoenix,she’s so strong even after all she’s been through. And i love Cobra/Alejandro,he is the perfect man for her,strong,commanding...and all those emotions that surface sometimes....yum! Too bad i now have to wait for Resurrection,though....i need to know how this one ends! If they get their so well deserved happy after....

Another Fabulous Read

Having read Snakebite, I was so desperate for Retribution that I ordered it months ago...and it didn’t disappoint! Just as action-packed as its predecessor, every time I thought the story was going one way and would soon be over, a little unexpected twist sent me in a different direction. What you think is going be a predictable plot turns out to be anything but. The chemistry between Phoenix and Cobra increases but without frills, and the whole story is written, like Snakebite, without fuss, prettiness or cliches; the writing throughout is matched perfectly to the tone of the tale and, without creating spoilers, another cliffhanger has left me desperate, once again, for the next instalment! Please, please don’t leave it too long, Heather!

A good storyline with some unexpected turns. Just wish the language wasn’t so awful.

Every bit as good as book one this is an action packed sequel that really builds on the first book. The characters leap off the page, the action scenes don't disappoint, and the tensions between the characters crackle. in short it is fan-blooming-tastic. I loved it from start to finish. My only disappointment is book three doesn't appear to have been released yet! Gah! I hope I don't have to long to wait too long as I definitely need another Cobra fix!
