When her parents announce that it's time to find a suitor, Hattie knows there is one boy who has already stolen her heart. Living on the streets after his father is banished for using magic, Cedric has learned to fend for himself. Working for the man who took him in keeps him from starving, but he wants to make something of himself. Otherwise, he has no hope of winning Princess Hattie's heart. When a mage curses Hattie's family on her sixteenth birthday, she and Cedric must flee the kingdom to keep her safe. Now Cedric’s absent father may be the hero they need to help defeat the mage—if they can find him. Jaclyn is an Idaho farm girl who grew up loving to read. She developed a love for writing as a senior in high school, when her dad jokingly said she was the next Dr. Seuss (not even close, but very sweet). She met her husband, Steve, at BYU, and they have six happy, crazy children who encourage her to keep writing. After owning a bookstore and running away to have adventures in Australia, they settled back down in their home in Utah. Jaclyn now spends her days herding her kids to various activities and trying to remember what she was supposed to do next. She has published six books in a year, and her mind is still reeling from the awesomeness. Her books include Ring of Truth; A Christmas Worth Billions; The Princess and the Prom Queen; Magicians of the Deep; the Luck series--Stolen Luck, Twist of Luck, Best of Luck, More Than Just Luck, No Such Luck, and Just My Luck, a novella; and Endless.

This is a fun and new twist of beauty and the beast mixed with Alladin. The storyline jumped around a bit for me and I felt like the characters needed more depth and back story for me to totally get into the story. Overall it was a good book with a new twist on a fairytale.

Aladdin is still one of my all-time favorite movies. Who doesn't love a magical genie that grants wishes? Beauty and the Beast is also a favorite, and has been watched many a times. What would you happen if you intertwined Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin? Well, you would get Limitless.

While the story is incredibly predictable due to it being a retelling it does add its own little twist on both tales, though I wish there could've been more unique ideas. The predictability, along with the pace of the story, made the book fall flat for me. I will say that there is wonderful characterization, and the unspoken love between Cedric and Hattie is beautiful. The ending did leave a smile on my face, thought it felt like forever to get there.

Still, it is a co-mingling of fairy tales, which did add to its charm, but the entire time I felt like it was missing something and I never did put my finger on what it was. I never could really connect with the characters and their unique situations, and wish I could've had more backstory on the main characters.

This is the first time I've read anything from author Jaclyn Weist and I can see that she has a wonderful imagination, and hope that the other books in this series are better edited, and have that extra depth that is lacking in this story.

A twist on Beauty and the Beast/Aladdin. Hattie and Cedric are the main characters in this retelling. What happens when magic is banished from the kingdom? A father who must leave the kingdom and a son who grows up under the eye of an innkeeper. A princess who slips out of the castle and works in the inn. But when the dark magic comes back, they are forced to flee. Will Cedric be able to learn what he needs to in time to save Hattie and her parents?

Fun Fairytale Remix

A combination of Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin-Hattie is a princess who “works” at the Inn. Cedric is an orphan that the Inn owner took in. Except Cedric has a Dad and he’s a mage that has been banished. Cedric wants to save Hattie when he sees her parents turned into beasts. Great sweet romance!

I enjoyed the combination of two well loved fairytales. I loved getting to know the characters. The magic and worldbuilding is fascinating. I felt like the ending was just a little rushed--or that might have been me, rushing to get to the end so I can find out what happened.

I am sad to say that I was disappointed in this book. Ive never read anything by this author before, but she has written lots of books and Ive been trying to read/support LDS authors lately. I won this book from the author in a facebook group.
I also feel like I should mention I obviously haven't read any of the other books in the series that are before this book, and that I also didn't finish it.
I think this book would do much better with another (and better) editor and a different title. The book felt unfinished, I checked twice to make sure it was published and not an ARC. There were typos, things jumped around, things were repeated, things were said opposite.
It has potential... but needs more work.
Sorry.
