They say time changes everything, but I can change time.
When I stumbled into a New York City time portal, I was transported to a warehouse fire in 1913 and barely escaped with my life. My rescuer turned out to be a handsome time-traveler, Dante O’Rourke. These days, the Irish cutie is helping me unleash my hidden abilities, introducing me to a world beyond my imagination.
But there’s a dark side to time travel, an underbelly of theft, corruption, and greed that threatens to change the past and destroy the present.
That’s where the Kairos come in. They’re a secret society and the noble protectorates of time. But the Kairos have enemies; the evil, murderous Vagaries, who are determined to destroy the Kairos and all of their kind.
I've just made a foolish mistake, becoming enemy number one. Now I must protect my family at all costs. The Vagaries may try and change the future, but while I live, I won't let them destroy it.
I received an ARC of this book from the author and this doesn't influence my opinion on it.
I expected Touching Time to be good and omg it's so freaking amazing. Time Travel is a favorite genre of mine, no matter how it's executed, through magic or science, I always love it. I am glad this book joins my list of favorites. The terminology, writing, descriptions and world building is so top notch. Touching Time is about Grace who is a Kairos -which means Time Traveler-. She's had experiences but never really understood what it was until a fateful encounter crosses her path with Dante another Kairos who introduces her to their enchanting world. Their world is complicated as it is beautiful, the Kairos are at war with a differing society of Kairos called the Vagaries. They're basically the bad guys, they're involved in nasty business and used their powers for nefarious purposes. The Kairos duty is to stop them and correct time. Travelling is not too complicated, they're born with it and it's like vanishing, concentrating and then reappearing in a particular period. Touching Time excites with amazing and adventurous jaunts through time, plus the mystery of the Vagaries makes a very compelling read. Grace's eventful life gets even more exciting when an impromptu jump through time leads her to a magical dagger that just might change everything. There's so much to love about this book Grace's relationship with Dante which is hot! Dante is like so amazing, I LOVE him, Grace's ability to always stumble into trouble at unfortunate times, her familial ties to this new mysterious world. Grace's journey is buoyed by the supporting and great members of the Kairos, Jacob, Scarlet, Liam, Bruce, Matthew etc and her ever steadfast best friend Jillian. K.S. Hall has woven an enchanting world. Touching Time ends on an amazing cliffhanger that has me excited for what's coming because it looks like it's gonna be mind blowing. I happily recommend Touching Time to YA Paranormal fans, it's a nice addition to the Genre.
I really enjoyed this book! When Grace accidentally travels back in time, it sets up a series of events that she couldn't even imagine possible. Touching Time is a story about love, friendship, danger, secrets, and adventure all in one!
Grace's time-traveling adventures and teen life are well-written and enjoyable. However, I found the theme of good Kairos and evil Vagaries to be under-developed - why are the Vagaries trying to change the past and what do the Kairos do when they aren't chasing Vagaries? But the mystery surrounding Grace's aunt who mysteriously disappeared and Grace's attempts to adapt to her new powers keep the story moving and the book ends with an enticing cliffhanger. Hopefully the roles of the Kairos and Vagaries will be spelled out in future titles.
Grace finds herself to be a time traveler. Portals lead to different places and times with two groups being able to travel - Kairos who are good and Vagaries who are not. There is a slight romance in the story but I felt the "L" word was used to quickly. Wish the relationship had developed more. Grace quite often made bad decisions so I hope in the next book she has learned to be less impulsive. I liked the Kairos group overall and wished to see more interactions with them. Reading Book 2 next.
Touching Time is a great read! I basically read the whole thing in one sitting. The story line is very interesting and the conflict between the kairos and the vagaries keeps the book full of suspense and adventure. And there is a sweet romance story mixed in, which I loved. The book ends with a cliff hanger. I can’t wait to figure out what happens next! I definitely recommend this book.
Wow, grab onto something as you travel through time. This book is exciting and dangerous with many secrets around every corner. You become one with Grace and Dante as they lead the reader through the time tripping. What a wonderful thought that this could be real. I was swept up and sailed through this book. Now I am ready for more.
Time travel? Yes please. Add fighting and "magical" weapons and I'm basically there. I'm not too much a fan of first person so it took me awhile to get used to it, but when I did, I liked the book.
What a great time travel book! Loved the characters! The story captured my interest right from the beginning! It has love drama and mystery! Can't wait to read the next book!
Omg! Touching Time: The Kairos Files was such a good read! This was a fun tale about time travel. And yes, the term “Kairos” drew me in. Hook, line and sinker: a bit of Greek wordiness/mythology is all the bait it takes. In this the Kairos crew are those time-travellers who travel through time to do good things. The Vagaries are the badies, who time-travel to reap the rewards of their ability for themselves, while killing Kairos along the way. The intentions of each of the groups and their overall plans weren’t that well developed and some of the villains actions I thought weren’t extreme enough after they’d been built up to be scary. Yet I still enjoyed the ride with Grace, the MC discovering how to time travel and the discoveries about herself and her heritage along the way. As well as the developing relationship between her and a fellow Kairos, Dante. Very much looking forward to reading on in the series.
