The Amarant #2

The Vampire Unleashed

Rate this book
Immortality is no fairy tale.

Crimson Wilkinson may have narrowly escaped destruction at the hands of Delilah, but the cost of that escape proves to be a hefty one. As the first Amarant vampire in centuries, she is struggling with controlling both her demanding thirst and her insurmountable new powers. If that weren't enough, the Salem coven is without a leader, and Crimson owes them greatly. If she does not step up as their new leader, they may join her growing enemies and crush her. The stress of it all begins to go to her head, and she fears she is losing her mind.

But that's not the only threat darkening her world. Vampires are dying of mysterious causes. Crimson may have to face losing everything and everyone she holds dear, including Nicholae.

So much for happily ever after...

The Vampire Unleashed is another great book by Tricia Barr. I was waiting to get my hands on this book after reading the first one and was not disappointed. The author came up with a very unique twist to vampires that I have not yet read or seen a movie about, which is great. Let's face it, it is difficult to write anything new about something so much covered about as vampires, yet this author did it in her first book by coming up with the Amarant, and did it again in this book, and no I am not telling how. You will have to find out for yourself! The plot is captivating and follows a great pace, leaving you never bored nor rushed through the story. There are some nice twists hidden within that added beautifully to the plot. There were a couple I was like "Oh come on, why don't you see it" but I guess it is the outside in view?

Crimson is definitely an interesting character and has a lot of growing to do still. She has come a long way but there are still times I just want to shake some sense into her! She would be lost with her Nicholae and her cousin Haley who seems to be the only one focused enough to pay attention and pick up on things. She was a real nice addition to this one and I am glad the author added her to the mix.

I definitely enjoyed this book and am curious where Crimsons adventure will take us next!

Ending was a bit of a forced happily ever after. Pretty much of a "meeh" series. The series satisfied a bit of my vampire fever for a time though...

*voluntarily and honestly reviewed the ARC I received from the author*

It's about a 3.5 for me. As an overall story, I thought it was good and I really liked the plot. What the author came up with was cool and it's not every day you read about something like this when it comes to vampires. Personally, I couldn't get into any of the characters and there were a few instances that forced me to stop and think about what I just read. A few things were confusing, making me wonder why the character would do that instead of this. I won't say without spoiling but I will say that this affected my reading experience and time with the characters. "Dramatic martyrs" was the pair of words that came to mind around the time the book began to wrap itself up because of what they all chose to do, and while it was intense with the drama, I just personally couldn't get into it. I couldn't get why you wouldn't avoid all of that stuff by doing something that seemed to make more sense. But that's just me. I liked the ending, the writing was okay sometimes and great in other bits, and overall, it was pretty entertaining with a fun plot.

This is a great squeal. I did see the ending coming before it even happened but I was just as satisfied when it finally happened. This squeal dives deep into a whole new adventure/tragedy from the first book which keeps things fresh. Just loved how Barr took the vampire, mortal romance and stayed true to original concepts but just completely turns it into something much more and original. If you like anything like "Twilight" I would suggest reading these. In fact I would argue they are just as if not a little better than Twilight. Just because we took Twilight and ran it in the ground, like an over played song on the radio. But with that being said it's a great read, and I'm happy I stubbled across this set.

Entertaining and fun read dealing with vampires and romance and drama! This is book 2 with these characters, so I’d recommend starting with the first one for the best enjoyment of this story. Crimson is still fairly new to the whole vampire thing, and she’s being thrust into a leadership role, so she’s having some struggles coping with some unexpected craziness with the vamps. Dangers all around! Enjoy the action, the cool vampire abilities, and the sweet romance with Nicholae. This series still lacks a little on the emotional impact for me, but still an interesting adventure. Looking forward to reading the next one!

I really enjoyed this book. Crimson is craving vampire blood and she is afraid her Amarant gene is changing her into a monster. A second part of the plot has a vampire returning from a trip and he has brought a virus back with him. This virus is killing vampires and Laramie is trying to find a cure. Right to the end your not sure if they will find a cure. A real thriller and a page turner. I really liked Haley, Crimson’s cousin. She finds Crimson and ends up being kept by the Salem Coven. I would recommend this book and cannot wait for the next one. Arianna is returning!.

The Vampire Unleashed (The Amarant Book 2)

The Vampire Unleashed (The Amarant Book 2)  OMG 😳 😊🥰I didn’t think it was possible but, this book is even better than the 1st!  It’s full of twists and turns, intrigue, danger and romance, 🥰 be prepared for a wild ride into the lives of vampires, both good and bad. Crimson finds out that being an Amarant means a lot more than she bargained for. Ends on a bit of a surprise cliffhanger that I sure did not see coming, do I can't wait to start reading book 3 next!!! Definitely recommend reading this book and series,so glad I do not have to wait for it!!!!!

Salem coven helps destroy Delilah. Crimson and Nicholae are coerced into becoming figurehead leaders of the Caeler's Salem coven after his death. Vampires everywhere are becoming mysteriously sick. As a new Amarant vampire Crimson is becoming overwhelmed. Can Crimson handle everything that is happening with her new unique abilities, the coven and the new disease? Loving the new unique twist on vampires!

The Vampire Unleashed (The Amaranth Book 2)

This was a wonderful story. It completely drew me in. I didn’t want to put it down to go to bed last night but finally gave in to sleep. It was the first thing I grabbed this morning though. I really liked how Haley was drawn into the story and am half expecting a book about Haley.
This was a wonderful love story with lots of ups and downs but the happily ever after ending.
I will be sure and tell others about this great story.
