I thoroughly enjoy anything and everything that David Wood writes and "Devil's Face," a Dane Maddock adventure, is no exception. Once I started reading, I literally could not stop, as Dane and Bones, along with a young lady in search of the lost treasure of Dutch Schultz, begin a hunt that will bring Dane face to face with an adversary from his past. As the hunter becomes the hunted, you'll be glad you're along for the ride, as each clue, and each mysterious word of Dutch Schultz's last ramblings, bring you closer to the exciting conclusion. I absolutely love ancient relics, cryptic clues and buried treasure mysteries, and the author does a superb job with all of it. Whether or not you're familiar with this author or series, don't let that stop you from delving into the wonderful entertainment you'll get from this finely-crafted book.
Well, it would seem that Dane and Bones didn't kill anyone in this book. Of course, someone does get killed, and someone tried to kill them. And, there's a beautiful woman involved, who gets them involved in her treasure hunt.
All in all, it was a very easy and pleasant read. I really enjoyed the description of the area they were in. David Wood does describe locations well enough that one can see them in one's mind's eye.
Another great adventure by Dane and Bones. This one slightly different from all their other adventures in as much as they were searching for the lost treasure of a notorious gangster. Of course I recommend this book! I love Dane and Bones.
Maddock and Bones are on the hunt for gangster Dutch Schultz hidden treasure. Aided by cryptic clues in a Mary Poppins book, they soon find themselves up against a hitman, mafia boss and the federal government to be the first to find the long hidden treasure.
In this book we join Maddock and Bones while they search for the lost or hidden treasure of legendary monster Dutch Schultz. It is a little bit weird that I like these books as much as I do, but I think they are a kind of guilty pleasure. Also, they are potato chips books, as in you always want one more. The characters of Maddock and Bones are very, very stereotypical ex navy seals, and somewhat one dimensional. Each book is based on a historical myth, and they are sometimes a little bit repetitive. But the action and adventure is great and very fast paced, and the books are enjoyable.
