Most days I can be found bent over my keyboard creating worlds where a ghost turns out to be a cursed bootlegger or an outlaw shifter is forced to go on the run with the assassin tasked with killing her. Being an author is a bit like being a detective. Uncovering secrets and discovering what makes my characters tick becomes an addictive adventure that I hope translates into a story that my readers will enjoy.

When I'm not dreaming up stories featuring heroes who aren't intimidated by strong heroines, you can find me exploring antique stores and thrift shops looking for vintage treasures or communing with nature, which is code for sitting on the patio with a cup of tea and a good book.

Tethered by Carlyle Labuschagne is a twisted suspense thriller with a hint of paranormal mixed in. Willow Viviers is a sick young woman. She desperately needs a heart transplant, and she gets exactly what she needs. But her and her sister get more than the bargained for. Her sister, Raine, did some shading dealings to acquire the heart that now resides in her sister's chest. Her sister is having hallucinations, but it's more than that. She's seeing things that have happened, and she's being shown what could happen again. Someone is stalking Raine, and he won't stop until he has what he is after. Aaron is cop looking to break up a sex-trafficking ring, but when his partner goes missing, the pieces begin to come together to show them all that they are in deeper into something none of them could have imagined.
Tethered is truly an intense read. Trust me when I say, once you start reading this book you won't be able to put it down. It's totally crazy and gripping. Each page turn takes you deeper and deeper and you scramble to put it all together from the meaning of the twisted drawings to figure out who is the head of the snake.
This story has some editorial issues scattered without, but only one is truly eye-catching. In a scene with Willow and Raine in the hospital, the author mixes the two women up. In two sentences the author calls Raine Willow. Examples "Her eyes moved to the basin behind Willow." Willow was telling Raine to stop the dripping water, so that puts Raine next to the basin, not Willow because Willow was in the bed before she got up. Then Willow heads back to the bed, but the author doesn't correct. "Willow look at the tap and saw a drop of water hit the sink." This can't be true because Willow had already turned and walked away.
This story is truly gripping and hard to put down. You'll be page turning all the way to the end. Do not miss out on this story! Rating it 5 out of 5 stars!

Cursed by Kristen Ping is fantastic! The author takes some Native American lore and mixes it into this paranormal short story. It is riveting. This story is a real page-turner as you follow along with twin sisters Mel and Em. Their family has moved to a new town, but Mel is far from happy about it. She resents everyone in her family and thinks that they just don't care about her at all. But that is the furthest thing from the truth. When Mel finds a strange huge dreamcatcher strange and frightful nightmares begin. She's tormented and there is no relief in sight. Her sister and mother fear for her, but there isn't much that they can do. With some help Emily will go about finding a means to help her sister, but will she be in time?
This story is a real page-turner. I love how Emily cares so much for her sister despite how cruel her sister is to her. I'm disappointed that Mel insists on holding grudges against everyone. I want her to stop being a brat and see reality for what it really is. This story is truly fascinating. The author switches back and forth between the sisters, but does an excellent job identifying the changes. The story is easy to follow and it's easy to tell the difference between the two girls.
I am rating this story 5 out of 5 stars. It is well writtten and one of Kristen Ping's best! You will not be disappointed!

Vampire Magic by Rosemary A Johns is yet another successful addition to her Rebel Angel series. Grey is a Lazarus Mage, he has unique skills and abilites in association with the dead. He's been trained at the Phoenix Academy for years, and now he's of age at 21 to raise a warrior angel as his own to be his slave. Quickly, he begins to go against the rules. You don't nickname/name your slave, but he does. He cares for him, where others simply view him as a weapon. Grey finds his heart is soft when it comes to his warrior angel and that he will do what he can to protect him. But it will come with a choice that he may or may not be willing to make.
Vampire Magic is a fantastic addition to the Rebel Angel series with the reader following a new character. Grey has experienced the loss of his loved ones. He's been raised by a man who seeks to use him. Grey has been the obedient and pliant individual until he gets his own slave. I love his development as a character and how he becomes more. There are moments of where he's hesitant, but I like his growth overall. The author does a wonderful job weaving these characters and engaging the reader.
I'm rating this story 5 out of 5 stars. Those who enjoy Rosemary A John's work will enjoy this book and those who are new to her work will not be disappointed.
