Ok, I had to get on my desktop for this one. I really wanted to give this book 5 stars but I will have to settle for 2.5 stars. ⭐️⭐️✨

This story is about Lena, a young black professional woman who moved from LA to ATL for employment but to also build a better relationship with her mother. Lena is so good at her job, she is recognized for a promotion (we find out later that Jonathan had something to do with that). She gets the promotion but soon came to realize that the CEO, Jonathan, pretty much picks on her. Lena honestly thinks he's racist. It is mentioned time and time again that Lena was hurt by her ex-boyfriend. Very understandable to be insecure but Lena takes it to a whole other level that pissed me off beyond reason. I'll tell you why a little later.

SN: Lena makes the statement that race is not really brought up in LA and it's noticed when she is in ATL. However, Lena has the biggest issue with race out of the two of them. I'm excluding outside forces. Yes, Jonathan's failing to communicate does not help but some of the stuff that she thinks and says is out of line to me. Her friend made the comment "When you have sex with a white male that's all they want. They always go back to their own when they are done." I wanted to slap the mess out of her friend. I'm not here for that. Before I met my boyfriend (yes, he is white) I've gotten comments such as, "I've never been with a black girl before", "is it true that black women are better in bed?", "do you taste like chocolate....?" Mess like that, I personally don't like. We are not fetishes. One reason why I love my boyfriend so much is because he does not see me as such. While Jonathan called her pet names in regards of the color or her skin and loved her ass, he didn't want to be with her because of those things. He really wanted to be with her.

Ok, back to what I was saying....Jonathan is the CEO of a mutli-billion dollar company. He seems to take interest in Lena but does not know how to handle it so he's a jerk towards her. Their attraction is so strong one night, they end up sleeping together. He thought that it was just going to be a one time thing but he soon came to realize that he wanted more of her. I really liked Jonathan. Yes, he was not good at explaining his feelings to her but he also did not play any kinds of games with Lena. When he told her what he wanted, he meant it. He pursued Lena.

Throughout their relationship, Lena is an insecure, over analyzing, annoying liar. Lena is the reason why I gave this book 2.5 stars. Yes, there were times where there was blatant racism displayed (external forces) and there were times where Jonathan should have done more to stand up for her but Lena KILLED it for me. Throughout the entire book, Lena is fighting with herself. Everything could have been prevented if they both could have communicated and if Lena stopped being an over analyzing child. Why, Ms. West? Why did you have to make Lena so annoying??

Ok, here is what did it for me. *SPOILER ALERT*...

Lena get's pregnant with Jonathan's baby and she doesn't tell him. I know that this book is not real but for the last 24 hours, I've been in my feelings over this. HOW DARE SHE!!!!! What kind of low, pathetic, petty mess is that??? What woman in their right mind would want to take a mans child away from him, especially knowing how he felt about her?? I'm sorry, Ms. West but that's a no for me. I can't. Over and over again, Jonathan tells her she is the only one for him, he loves her and he even asks her to marry him. He travels to LA to see her and she shows up at his place thinking she is going to a job interview. They end up having sex. While having sex, she is telling him how she really feels about him. He's so happy that he purposes to her. She turns him down. She basically mind f*cked him. The anguish I felt reading that rejection. Even the text messages they exchanged had me tearing up. She leaves him on his knees. After 7 months of being apart, Jonathan finds out that she's pregnant and flies across the country in an attempt to be with her.....again. Jonathan finally stands up for himself *STANDS AND APPLAUDS*. What does this bitch do? She lies and tells him that it's not his child and she is in love with her ex. W. T. F!!!!!!! I almost threw my iPad across the room. My boyfriend was looking at me like I lost my mind. I looked at my boyfriend and told him, if I were pregnant with his child and he wanted to be in his child's life, no way would I do such a horrible thing. Yes, I know this is a book but this is just something I can't handle. Cheating and mess like that.

Lena had the attitude of "I'm going to get you before you get me". Girl, bye 😒

Yes, there is an HEA but I can't with Lena.

With all of that being said, I hope that Jonathan's side of the story is more logical. Definitely a page turner but I can't give this book 5 stars. First book by Ms. West and I really hope to read her future work but I also hope and pray that she makes stronger leading female characters.

Happy reading, friends! ❤️📖

I LOVED this steamy and engaging story although not the heroine as much due to her flaming insecurities. Lena's boss and the hero of "White Male" never wavered once in his devotion for Lena and that's what made their journey so memorable for me.

I can't wait to read Kim J. West's "Black Female which give Jonathan's POV.

I liked it. I understood why Lena was reluctant to get involved with Jonathan. You can't have one set of rules for your employees, and another set of rules for yourself. Always, lead by example.

I am not sure what this author was going for but this book is not romantic and it is very offensive.

I found the characters extremely unlikable and unrelatable especially the heroine who based everything on stereotypes and her opinion that was almost always wrong. I found her take on the world, relationships and herself to be extremely stereotypical and juvenile. She sounded like she barely liked herself so how could she have a relationship with anyone else? Her boss the male lead owns a million dollar corporation but basically treats her like crap for 6 weeks and yet pounces on her 1 night and has a burning lust for her? I just could not relate and truthfully we get that they are an IR couple but having to hear he likes her huge huge booty and blackness when they have sex was not romantic or worthy of making me want to continue to try and make it through this book. I am rarely this harsh about new writers but I just don't know what this book or author was trying to achieve and I do not want to know-i just felt like it was hard to wade through.

Omg. This book was one of the best IR books ever written. The previous one star review must be one of those fakes "book sinkers" from the competition; entire profile blocked is proof. I really want to read more by this author; I first saw the sample on Kindle Scout.
Lena and Jonathan had a sizzling relationship but Lena sometimes drove me crazy!! I know sometimes when you've been hurt before you don't take crap but she needs to just relax. I cannot wait for the next one which is supposed to be from Jonathan's pov.

I discovered this author by chance when she was entering her book in a competition. I read the sampler she provided and was hooked by the story. This is Lena and Jonathan's story. Their attraction is very strong but Lena's insecurities are also very strong. Throughout the story Lena consistently pushes Jonathan away, even when he has demonstrated that he really loves her. The last time she did it was heart wrenching, I truly felt for Jonathan. I could not see how he would come back from her last knock out punch to heart. But he did.

The story was engaging and addictive. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to reading Jonathan;s prospective on the story. He is my kind of man!

Oh heck naw

YOO if I were Jonathan, I would have left Lena! She was SUPER ANNOYING BRUH! She spent the majority of the book making up scenarios and ASSuming stuff! I was so aggravated ‘whilst’ (got sick of that word) reading this book! I kept checking my Kindle to see how far I had left in the book—all b/c of whiny immature Lena! What a lame bro....she just kept going on and on—I was so turned off! I kept thinking—YOO Johnathan REALLY gonna stay with this childish chick! They sounded like a Divorce Court episode waiting to happen! Thank God for the Pre-Nup! Yuck man!!! ISSA NO for me dawg!!!

Such a low rating because of the heroine. I've never seen such a poor excuse for a "woman" , than I saw in her. But then I guess it was her age. How many times do you have to be used to get the picture. And a third of the book was filled with her repeating the same phrases over n over again. It was too much

There was just something "off" about this book. Lena is black, educated, successful, and working in a dream job in a financial investment firm in Atlanta. Her boss, Jonathan, is slightly older closer to 30, and has taken an immediate interest in her just by seeing her around. He comes up with a plan to pull her in but Lena resists (though not much because she has sex with him in the office shortly after they exchange words beyond hello). Then she freaks out about their racial differences and the fact he is her boss. He pursues, she says no, then she says yes, then she says no. It is enough to make your head spin.

Lena was immature, lacking any depth, and constantly talking to herself. Mostly talking herself into running from Jonathan for some stupid reason or another.

There really isn't a plot or much of a storyline in this book and, after the first couple of sexual encounters I started to flip through them. The scenes were boring, and the dialogue was just weird. Also, no believable chemistry.

I forced myself to finish this book.

"White Male" by Kim J. West

My Thoughts....

If you are looking for a hot and steamy romantic read then this author will bring it all to you from the drama 'sensual intense, hot and erotic love scenes, heartbreaking' all the way to the romantic side of it all.' This author gives the readers something to think about long after the read as it was for Jonathan and Lena..BWWM. There will be so much going on that you will have to keep up. Definitely Lena had a lots going on with herself as she had just come out of a horrible relationship and now this one was certainly a new one for her...not only dating her boss that involved cultural differences but....well this is where I say you will just have to pick up "White Male" and see for yourself how it will all turn out. Yes, at time Lena did get on my nerves with all of her insecurities but after thinking about it in the end I could see her point of reasoning. Will Lena ever be able to let her pass go and stand up with the man that loved her so dearly? Will Lena and Jonathan be able to 'rise up and fight for what they want and forget out the outside forces' that were around them and get to their HEA?'
Well, open up this novel and continue reading to see if Jonathan gets what he wants in the end! If you are looking for a good story full of intensed but yet beautiful....I would recommend this one for you.

Desperate love

Their love was a struggle. I have to give it to Jonathon he hung in there. I could understand Lena's fears but glad Jon pushed through.

I will don't know how to explain this story. The boss like his subordinate and she is hung up on him being white. The chemistry seem a little weird. I mean the stuff that comes out of her mouth about race would turn me off.

To resist is futile

Both Jonathan Carter and Lena Williams tried their best to resist each other until that first time together. Jonathan was smitten and Lena addicted to him. All it took was to be in the same room with each other and it was on and poppin'. Neither one had been in a relationship like theirs before and all Lena wanted was not to have her heart broken and hurt like her ex Willie did in Cali. But she did not want their relationship to be outed at work either, seeing that she would have unforseen problems with co workers, she also did not want to be his dirty little secret either. All of that changed when his mother unexpectedly showed up declaring him to be engaged. Lena had to get away and run with her tail between her legs back to Cali. He'd broken her worst than Willis could ever do because she was hopelessly in love with Jonathan.

Kim wrote a highly erotic hawt love story with so much up and down drama that kept me wanting to continue to read each page. This couple not only have to deal with the ins and outs of a boss/ employee romance but also race, culture and family. Lena thought that she was doing the right thing by getting out of Jonathan's life and ending their relationship for the sake of his family. She did not want to be the rift between he and his family and company, he had too much to lose and risk by being with her. He was able to persuade her that she was they only woman for him regardless, that he'd give it all up for her. They were a family now and he wanted their HEA.

I'm impressed!!

For this to be a new author. The writing was impeccable. The story was different. I can't wait for more books. The alpha male role was perfect not too much, just the right amount not overbearing.

Nice

Good book, nice story and good characters. Jonathan and Lena were smoking hot and the story was good. My only complaint is that sometimes Lena was just a bit annoying with her constant running and whining, but I was still a good read

Very well written erotic love story....

I loved the whole story and how their relationship grew, the chemistry between them was explosive and you could feel the intensity flowing off the page. Jonathan and Lena, made me want to see them in film as well as in a book as their relationship was realistic and believable.
This was a well written love story and the characters development was on point, Lena was no pushover and stood her ground for what she believed in. Jonathan was no pushover either and fought hard for what he wanted. I'm looking forward to reading Black Female which should be out soon to get Jonathan's perspective on Lena, if it's anything like this story it should be a very interesting read.

Loving with a broken heart

This was an awesome story! Jonathan and Lena were amazing! I know Lena had been hurt by her ex but she was her own worst enemy. With a broken heart and somewhat stereotypical ideals, she made being with Jonathan harder than it had to be. Not that some of her thoughts weren’t warranted but she let her insecurities get the best of her. She was running away before they could get started good.
Overall I loved the story and the characters were great together. Look forward to reading the story from Jonathan’s point of view!

Sleeping with the boss

This was my first read by this author. It was OK. There was lots of passion, dialogue, and the story flowed. However, I really had a hard time liking Lena. She was immature and a little annoying. Her fleeing all the time and hiding her pregnancy was just foolish. Jonathon was far from perfect too. He was demanding and domineering at times. Overall the book was good, I just wish Lena was not so weak.

Highly recommended!

Don't get me wrong, Lena was looking for her relationship to fail. I wanted to strangle her on every account because it didn't stop her from submitting to Jonathan. And to add insult to injury to hide something so precious from him. Just stomp on his heart why don't you Lena. But I love the outcome.

I enjoyed this story, as soon as I saw that it has 32 chapters and an epilogue I knew it was going to be good. I love lengthily stories especially when it has a good storyline and no ramblings. Looking forward to reading Black Female, I want know Jonathan's side.

White male

Omg I can't believe I actually read this all way through and got through it. I want to say I didn't like either of the main characters. This didn't feel like passionate love story. It was an instant sex thing. I found some parts hard to take. These instant sex stories are all alike. The same formula seems to be in every story, mostly resulting with a baby.
Can I say honestly I didn't like Lena? I couldn't stand her. She was so whiny, and quite full of herself, yet psychoanalyzing and over thinking every thing. She was not very likable. She brought a lot of the drama on herself.
Jonathan, he man, brute. He wasn't the least romantic. He saw her as his sex toy. It all felt like one long porn story. I thought this seemed to be drawn out too long. This was first story I've read from this author. Sorry I wasn't impressed. It just felt like porn to me.
