Dexter crossed with 50 Shades: enter a world filled with dark secrets, twisted lies, and dirty desires...
I’m coming for her…
I’ve watched her, I’ve hunted her, and now I’m here to claim her - Celeste Riley, my pretty little angel. Soon to be my pretty little captive. She pretends she’ll never want a killer like me, but we both know that isn’t true. On the outside, she’s pure and innocent, but on the inside she’s just as dirty and twisted as me. Just as broken. One way or another, I’m going to make her accept her fate. Make her submit. Make her mine. Forever.
WARNING: This is a dark romance novel which contains very disturbing situations, strong language, and graphic violence.
Reading Order: Cold Hearts (FREE Heartbreaker prequel) Bleeding Hearts (Heartbreaker book 1) Broken Hearts (Heartbreaker book 2) Black Hearts (Heartbreaker book 3)
Stella Hart is the dark romance pen name of Alessandra Hart. She loves animals, red wine, and rainy days where she can curl up inside and plot new books instead of having to go out.
All those five stars... I've probably got the wrong edition. This was awful. 😖 The writing is not engaging. Too much inner monologues from the heroine. The hero has no emotional depth. Seriously bad.
This reads like every other book where the hero kidnaps the heroine. It feels like an outline was taken and followed except I can tell the author did a lot of research on the heroine’s condition.
I was hoping every time I picked this book up it would keep my interest, but it didn’t.
Criminology student Celeste Riley is an FBI intern obsessed with finding the Hearbreaker serial killer. Celeste suffers mind-numbing pain made worse by anxiety so she undergoes hypnosis to get to the root of her anxiety and begins to recall an occasion. Pain specialist Dr. Alex Magnusson kills to mete out justice to those deserving of it. Alex has been keeping tabs on Celeste and when he realises Celeste's mind is beginning to reform old memories, that could only mean only one thing ... it's time to take her. Celeste is kidnapped by the impossibly handsome Alex, who seems to know all her darkest secrets, and is rewarded or punished depending on her behavior. As time goes by, Celeste starts to crave Alex and believe that he's protecting her by keeping her there. That is, until Dan, a new captive, starts planting doubts into Celeste's head and tells her of his escape plan. What does Celeste say when Dan asks "So are you in or out?" Note: this story ends on a cliffhanger
Stella Hart delivers a dark, intense and intriguing story that will leave you wanting more

I should've learnt from my earlier mistakes of reading this author's books but clearly I didn't 😡
I never liked her books, because it had the recurring theme of hero misunderstanding fmc, him torturing and punishing the girl, and once the truth gets revealed he feels like shit and releases the fmc(thank God for small tiny mercies) but offcourse the "strong" fmc, forgives her abuser because she lives him(girl that's not love, it's brain damage, dignity annihilation 😒😒) . Seeing as this one was a captive one and had somewhat different storyline so like a moron I dived in and Lo Behold another dissapointment.
The whole cell thing was pointless and I am all for different kinks, hell I have all sorts of kinks including humiliation and degradation mentioned here.... But what disgusts me is that it was Not Consensual in any sense(Alex was not Celeste's guardian or anything so he had no right to force her to face things at his f*cking time) , something I absolutely hate when it comes to kink sharing. I love consensual non consent because therein lies a trust between the 2 partners and this one was not it!!!! Alex was a selfish, hypocritical despicable human no matter what he was doing to other bad people who literally came out as person who goes to great lengths to justify dipping his weener into his object of obsession. As for Celeste, yup like the author's other fmc she was a dissapointment.
Please don't kill me, since alot of people liked this series ✌🏻✌🏻 it's my personal review.
Although there are quite a few typos including grammatical and punctuation errors (for example, using semicolons incorrectly), sentences written in past tense, some in present, and some with a mixture of both at times, the storyline was interesting enough to distract me from focusing on those. Although I did find some parts to be very slow, making me tempted to skim, I definitely want to read the next book to find out what happens!
First of all the author needs to be congratulated for doing her research on the medical condition Celeste was suffering with and incorporating that brilliantly in the story. So far it has been only few authors in this genre, whose books I read, and who managed to do that so believable, reliably and well. So solid 5 stars definitely for that.
The story is a serious emotional rollercoaster before we find out who really Alex is and what his relation to Celeste is. You hate Alex but then you understand him (but how twisted is that he is a killer after all). I think again the author did brilliant job in pushing the reader to their limits and experience all this emotions in the story. There were times I disagreed so much with what was happening I was frustrated and wanted to stop reading. But I think whether there are positive or negative emotions it doesn't matter as any reaction when reading a story is what's all about and this author did good job stirring reaction in the reader. I hated and liked the characters, especially Alex-so controversial, and the story at the same time. But I will continue with the series to find out more about these two characters.
The storyline combines dark BDSM romance with criminal serial killer story making it gripping and heart stopping at times. It may not be for everybody's liking but it's worth giving it a go. Warning it ends with massive cliffhanger.
Excellent because the story manages me to empathize with a serial killer Some parts of the story are difficult to read, but at the same time, it's extremely addictive. I took my courage in both hands to move forward, and then it was impossible to put the book down. It's a very great dark romance. It should be noted that the cliffhanger is (unfortunately for the reader) too well placed. GRRRR The story is very well written, the characters are fabulous, and the author alternates most often between Celeste and Alex as narrators. Alex is a serial killer nicknamed "Heartbreaker" who kills (according to him in the prologue) to protect Céleste who is intern for 6 months at the FBI and who hopes to investigate this serial killer. Alex has been spying on her for many years. She suffers from the back and the shoulders because her brain wants to point out to her to not take any risk, that he recognizes this stimuli of a more serious problem, of a thing of which she isn't aware from some event that happened to her a long time ago. She only thing she knows, is that the "Heartbreaker" killed her father 15 years ago. Following a therapy, Celeste begins to have some memories and, to protect himself and to protect her, Alex abducts her. Then, there are different sessions between torture (but not completely), BDSM (but not completely either), to help her, and Celeste fight it. Nothing is clear because Alex has a reason for each of his choices. Celeste body's reactions is not consistent between what she would like to feel and what she really feels and she doubts to sink into the Stockholm syndrome. Gently, she puts her trust in his judgment to this man she does not understand. Finally, I never knew if I wanted her to escape or to stay.I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This is the first book in the Heartbreaker Series From Stella Hart. It is Dexter crossed with Fifty Shades. A world filled with dark secrets, twisted lies and dirty desires. Warning: This is a Dark book.
I have watched her. I've hunted her, and now I'm her to claim her. Celeste Riley, my pretty little angel. Soon to be my pretty little captive. She pretends she will never want a killer like me, but we both know that isn't true. On the outside, she is pure and innocent, but on the inside she is just as dirty and twisted as me. In Bleeding Hearts you have Celeste Riley who is an intern for the FBI. She is also a girl that suffers from pain and anxiety. She is also obsessed with finding and capturing The Heartbreaker who is a serial killer. She has decided to try hypnosis for her anxiety and she begins to recall some things from her past. Dr. Alex Magnusson is our serial killer who only kills those that he feels deserves it to bring justice. He also has been keeping on Celeste. Once he figures out that she is recalling things he know that the time has come to take her. Their time together is intense and she begins to crave him. He is after all her protector from her past and secrets and seems to know everything about her. But when Ben enters the picture all bets are off. I will go ahead and warn you that besides being a dark series this is a three book series so you should expect a cliffhanger. If you love dark books you do not want to miss this one. It had me attention from the get go and left me wanting so much more. I can not wait to dive into the next book in this series.
This is a dark romance trilogy and you will be left with a cliffhanger at the end of this first book. Also, there are possible triggers in this book and sensitive readers should be warned. Of course if you are like me and love a good dark romance, then read on.
The two main characters in this story are Celeste and Alex, I absolutely love them both. Celeste had a hard life, her dad was killed when she was six and now with Celeste turning twenty her mom lies in a hospital bed with liver disease and basically is just waiting to die. Celeste is always busy, she has three jobs, is going to college for a criminology degree, visits her mom as often as she can and has been dealing with pain issues in her back. Alex has kept a watchful eye over Celeste and her mom since her father was killed. When Celeste was around seventeen Alex started noticing little things that made it obvious that she was perfect for him. So he continues to watch and let Celeste live her life until he deems it time to go get her. There's a serial killer on the loose who has been killing people over the last fifteen years and for some reason Celeste is totally obsessed with the "Heartbreaker" case. There are memories of sinister people from Celeste's past that are locked inside her mind and if she starts to remember them she could be in danger. Grab this truly intriguing, dark, emotional book today, you will not be disappointed. I'm looking forward to the second book in this trilogy, which should be out sometime in September of 2018.

Playing BDSM👋Games With A Psychopathic Killer💀🔪 Alex👹🍆🌋👋 wants to give her the pain she craves. OUCH!
Celeste💃💔 is turning 21, and she has a long sad past, despite being so young. She has known a lot of pain since she lost her father. She has real, physical pain. Severe nerve pain in her back. She is so uptight from stress that she barely functions. Then her mother drinks🍸 herself to death, while spending all the money💰 for Celeste's college education. Definitely very unhappy teenage years.
Off and on she feels like someone is watching her or following her. She has strange dreams about trying to open a huge ornate door to see what is inside, but it is always locked. Working three jobs, going to college, and being an FBI intern is taking its toll on her health.
Well, Celeste💃💔 IS being watched by a psychopathic revengeful serial killer💀. But Why? Eventually Alex👹🍆🌋👋 just kidnaps her. He wants to break her and make her his, forever. But why?
ARC Received via Booksprout. I also got The book📑 with KU.
Ms Hart has written a real page turner! I read it straight through! This book is gonna have a big time cliffhanger!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book. Wow, this story is gripping, dark and intense. I was captivated from the beginning and I couldn’t put this book down. We pick up where the prequel left off and Alex is coming to realize that Celeste is starting to remember and all he wants is to protect her from it. Alex has two sides of the coin, he truly is a good man, but also deep down he is evil, but who is he really protecting Celeste from, her memories or should he be protecting her from himself? No spoilers, this is a must read from Stella, loving this series so far, it has a cliff hanger as there are more books to the series, well worth it and worth the wait. Stella is brilliant, there is suspense, and just enough to have you craving more and you will be sitting on the edge or your seat with anticipation for what’s to come. Loved it, highly recommend this book.
Dexter crossed with 50 Shades? Only because it's just as much bullshit and just as awful as 50 Shades, and the male lead is a serial killer.
TWs include: non-con, dub-con, child grooming
The only thing that kept me reading this was the medical aspect of our female lead's story. It was interesting to see how a psychosomatic nerve disorder was described and "treated." The memory recovery that the male lead needs from her to take down a sex slave ring was also intriguing, but ultimately lead nowhere.
The cliffhanger was right up there with the 60s Batman show, and I cannot begin to tell you how much I hate that. Give me a series of self-contained installments or get the fuck out. That "drop everything in the middle of an action scene" bullshit is the tool of a weak writer out for a money grab.
Okay I’ve been on a stalker/serial killer kick lately. This was a good quick read. Celeste is our mfc from the prequel you know she has a stalker. She had a crappy childhood and an alcoholic mother. She watched her father get murdered at a young age. This is where our “heartbreaker” serial killer Alex comes in. He’s waited for Celeste for years and finally decides it’s time he takes her. He holds her captive and shows her that all the fucked up things she likes (sexually)are normal and nothing to be embarrassed of. By this I mean our girl has a degradation/humiliation kink. Our man Alex even puts a muzzle and leash on her at one point ✋🏻🥵 this is dual POV but we also get a 3rd POV from FBI agent west.
This definitely gives me dexter vibes with the kind of serial killer he is.
Definitely recommend!

I was hooked from the start, I love how the story unfolded, even though it is a bit on the "dark" side (not sinister though) - it intrigued me. It was well written, with its twist and turns. At the end I want more, but then it left me hanging. I'm not into spoilers, so I wont be delving more on this and I would really recommend this - esp if you can endure cliffhangers on books. What left me hold back that one star was the cliffhanger really. I have read a lot of it, and I somewhat tend to hate it. I would prefer that all books in the series be out first before I start reading them so as not to get disappointed. Otherwise, a great beginning to a good series.

I would have given it a higher rating but it left me hanging and that’s just no fun . I usually hate cliffhangers it’s annoying and stupid but I’m willing to give this series a chance because so far it’s got me hooked. Celeste has had it rough and then Alex comes and complicates things even more. Alex is dark and dangerous but there is just something that calls to Celeste about him. I can’t go into much detail with out giving a lot away and trust me this is a book that you are going to have to read for yourself. I will tell you that it is dark and cold at ones so if you are not into dark and I mean dark books than don’t read but I suggest you give it a chance it is well worth it.
This is the first exciting book in a dark psychological trilogy. It ends on a cliff, so be warned. Things are revealed bit by bit, so I don't want to put any spoilers here. Let's say that this book kept me up at night, reading it and thinking about it. Celeste is on the cusp of turning 21, has health problems she is trying to sort out, and has multiple part time jobs. She is mentally strong to cope with her past, as well as her current debilitating condition. Alex is a good guy, and also a bad guy. Outstanding start to the series. I am ready to get into book 2.
I received an arc of this book and have voluntarily reviewed it.
Celeste learns the truth about her past and the connection she has with Alex. Knowing that Alex has always been there for her and the things he has done leaves Celeste with mixed feelings. Can Celeste walk away now when it is Alex who needs help? OMG! This book was amazing! It is a thrilling, dark, and intriguing story. I don't want to say too much and give anything away because this is one story you will not want to miss! Even if you don't prefer dark thrillers, you will end up loving this book! I can't wait to see what is going to happen next!

This was freaking captiving!!! I want to know what happens next. To know more about Alex and Celeste and that sick organization. Ok, I calm now. When I first read the summary, well, I was intriguing. But as I kept reading, I felt like my life was absorbed by this story. I was incapable of putting the book down, needing to know more about the characters and their motivations, how their lives were connected and how all was going to end. Fair Warning: Cliffhanger here. If you don’t resist it, keep going in your ride. Fair Warning: You’re gonna love that cliff

After reading the cold heart.....I was waiting for this book. And my wait was rewarded well, I liked this book, more than the prequel. The story of Alex and Celeste, cleared the introduction and went some more depths about the past and personality. Alex loves her but still hurts her and wants her to get hurted by him and him only, while Celeste....she hates him for what the monster he is, he easily finds who he is but still wants him to her hurt and wants him touch and do everything she never experienced before.
This story intrigued me more and I'm waiting for the book 2.

This is a dark and seductive thriller and it should be noted there are triggers in this book for those of a more delicate nature. We aren't just talking Dexter meets 50 shades, there is paedophile references too. The author has done a pretty fair job with convincing us to like Alex despite his background, however it's difficult to know if he is trustworthy as far as Celeste is concerned. This book takes a number of twists and turns and I was seriously unsure who were the shady fold and who were the good guys here. The story came across as authentic and Celeste's medical condition is a true one. Really got hooked with this book and am moving straight onto the next in the series.
Wow... just wow! I am having trouble putting into words how good this book was. It was full of twists and turns the whole way I never knew what to expect next but done in a way that just gave you enough to need more! I am not going to say anything about what happens in the book because I don't want to give any unintentional spoilyers. You need to read this! Absolutely brilliant. I can not wait for the next book!

I did not read the prequel first and wish I would have. It felt kind of like I was coming in on a story already in progress (which I guess I really was). This one pulled in in and had me hooked from the very beginning. I didn't want to put it down. It is dark and twisted with drama and suspense. Celeste and Alex were intriguing characters and very well written. The story does end in a cliffhanger so I am anxiously awaiting to be able to read the second part. *I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Celeste is an intern for the FBI and she is obsessed and determined to capture “The Heartbreaker” who is a serial killer. Celeste also has a past which now with the memories coming to the surface, brings danger closer to her than ever before. This is the first book in a trilogy, and I for one cannot wait to read the next novel. This is a well written story, which is emotional, dark, twisted, and with lies and secrets. I was hooked and intrigued throughout.
This is a dark story with dark content, so you have been warned. But if you like books like this, you have found a good one! The characters are intriguing and their backgrounds are interesting. Celeste especially has something going on and even she doesn't know what it is. She has intense physical pain, but why? You will find out. It's not what you think. In fact, little of this book is what you think. I love books that I don't figure out after the first chapter. And now I am ready to dive into book 2 immediately. MAJOR cliffhanger in this one.
This story sure is gory. But it also sure is good.
Celeste has begun to realize that Alex's tactics in breaking her are working. He also presses Celeste to remember her repressed childhood memories. When she finally does so, it's a game changer.
Dexter meets 50 Shades really is a perfect description of this story. I actually was so involved with it at the end of this book that I had to download the next one and read the first several chapters before I was willing to set it aside and write this review.
Great start to a new series. There's a very short prequel which is worth reading beforehand. Celeste is trying her best to keep her head above water. She's studying, working several jobs to pay for her dump of a house. Her mother's dying and she's struggling to hold everything together. The story builds slowly where Celeste gains an internship with the FBI. She's obsessed with the serial killer- the press call him the heartbreaker. He captures his victims, holds them for weeks, tortured them and eventually cuts out their hearts whilst they are still alive. Fairly fast paced.
This read is intense and suspenseful. It is a steamy, edge of your seat, page turner of a book. In this dark romance the characters are complex, the story well developed and the plot gripping. Celeste and Alex's relationship is shaping up to be extremely complicated to say the very least. Does end on a big cliffhanger in preparation for book two. I can't wait!! This is my voluntary, honest review.
