Just finished reading this little essay about the early work of Schiele. I was pleased to see that plenty of his drawings and water colors are included in this edition. I got the Rizzoli (1976)published book and I have to say that the quality for the price is really good. Usually the art books can have brief description of the popular works from the painter but this one has an except that explains the key relationship between Schiele and his contemporary expressionist friends. The text stays away from the personal conflicts the artist suffered, and empathizes his appreciation of the human body, the color and the blank spaces. If someone with mayor studies about the artist reads the book, they might not find it as good as other works inspired by him, however, I do think it is a good book for new readers on the topic.
