Dans une immense forêt, Xïnji le petit panda s'ennuie. Il regrette de ne pas avoir d'amis pour jouer avec lui. Une histoire sur le partage et la confiance en soi.
I really liked the illustrations, consisting of various cut and torn paper shapes, in this picture book whose story will be one that most readers may find relatable. Panda feels lonely and goes in search of a friend. But since he's not sure how to go about making friends, he decides to try to copy what the other animals are doing to impress another panda that he sees in the forest. But his efforts to dance like the flamingos, bounce like the lemurs, stomp like a blue-footed booby, and preen his tail feathers like a peacock do not go well, and he remains just as lonely as before. Then, the other panda asks for a bite of his snack, and sharing a meal leads to getting to know one another and a friendship. There's a good lesson worth sharing in this picture book. It isn't necessary to go to great lengths to have a friend. Sometimes one simple act is sufficient.
Ilustrações boas mas história com demasiada simplicidade na sua expressão. Panda masculino procura encontrar-se com panda feminina e faz tudo para a conquistar..
Oh my goodness, what a sweet book! Panda tries so hard to make a friend and upsets his community in the process, but it least in the end he finally gets it right. By the way, if you feed me, I'll be your friend, too.
A sweet story about friendship with engaging illustrations. This picture book moves through how a panda tries different ways to make friends by comparing himself to others and how they make friends. I liked how the author and illustrator communicate that the panda is willing to try to be a friend and the panda’s working through hope and disappointment along the way. When he settles in to his true self, friendship comes easier, but only after several disappointments along the way. Although not distracting to the story, the panda makes friends with another panda, and community is so important, but I wanted to see friendship develop between groups. That is often the next step in building broader community, and not the point here, so perhaps that is another story.
This book is about a panda who is trying to make friends. She does things to try and fit in with others, but is not successful at it. Later, she finds another panda, they share bamboo and become friends. I think this is a great book to have in the classroom because it shows how you do not have to try to fit in with people in order to become friends. I think in elementary students try to act like others in order to feel accepted but they need to realize that that is not true. I really enjoyed the illustrations on this book. They were very unique. It looked like the medium used was stamping and watercolors.
A sweet book about wanting to fit in and making friends. Panda takes a few trips around the jungle to discover that she is a valued member of society. The children could follow Panda on her journey, highlighting the different animals she meets. You could incorporate this into a PE lesson, looking at how various animals travel and taking Panda on a trip around the classroom. This could like to drama, science and geography.
A lonely panda wishes he could have a friend like himself. One day he sees another panda and goes to the other animals to find out what makes them friends with each other. Panda tries to mimick their habits, but the results don't always work.
A very sweet story about a panda that tries to make friends all the wrong ways. This book has a blue-footed boobie in it, so if you are reading it to 3rd or 4th graders...you might get some loud laughs or unwanted comments about that one. Illustrations are lovely!
Panda doesn't know how to make friends, so he looks to the other animals around him for advice. Little does he know, other pandas are not impressed by dancing, strutting, or leaping.
I love the silvery pages, bright colors, and overall design of this books. Kids will love pandas antics of imitating the other animals and be happy when he learns to just be himself.
It was a slow start, but then the text and illustrations began working together marvelously and very humorously and I become totally charmed by Panda's friend-making antics.
Poor panda just wants a friend! He sees another panda, but he doesn't know how to ask her to be his friend. Should he dance like a flamingo? Hop like a lemur? Or just be himself?
And I KNOW that I might sound ridiculous, but maybe a different animal could have been chosen so I wouldn't have to say "booby" repeatedly during a read aloud?
A panda tries to be like other animals to impress another panda, but he ends up acting like a panda (eating bamboo), shares it, and makes a friend with the other one.
