Newfoundland Slanguage

Rate this book
A fun way to learn how to understand and talk like a bona fide Newfoundland native. Before heading off on holiday to Canada’s Atlantic seaboard with the notion that the natives speak the same English language that you do, be sure to pick up this fun pronunciation guide to nearly 300 words and phrases heard only in Newfoundland and Labrador. Like other books in the Slanguage series, simple English words and syllables are used along with clever illustrations. So don’t be a jinker (someone who brings bad luck) or a scut (a dirty, mean person)―learn to talk just like a Newfoundland native.

This book was really fun to read! I learned some new slang from my native form of English and found a few words people in my area actually use a bit differently than what was listed. I would definitely recommend it to Newfoundlanders and Come From Aways alike. It is sure to bring a smile to any readers face!
