**see King's Indian Review for discussion of this particular collection of books and my interest in them**
i've worked on the Benoni lately from my recent re-review of "The Match of the Century", Fischer v Spassky ... Benoni translates as "Son of Sorrow" ... i doubt few people would argue that this is an apt moniker for Fischer ... but the Benoni begins with a Queen's Pawn opening (d4) which was a complete left hook to Spassky as one of Fischer's most famous quotes and one that is adhered to by millions of chess players is that the King's Pawn Opening (e4) is "Best by test" and it was a three-word truism he held to more than any other world class grandmaster ... and in the third game, Fischer down 2-0, a huge deficit in world championship chess, he opened with d4 and Spassky's heart and stomach must have dropped a foot inside his torso ... not to mention the internal organs of his seconds and the rest of the Soviet team ...
Son of Sorrow ... after winning this was certainly Fishcer's own truism
but i ramble ... this book certainly has a solid lineup of the most used lines and variations and will get anyone off to a good start
