D'Arth Series #2

Best Laid Plans

Rate this book
Samantha D’Arth never expected to act as someone’s surrogate and it certainly wasn’t a typical undertaking on during the post-university world travel circuit, but her half-brother and his wife’s difficulties had made her understanding and compassionate to the plight of childless couples. What she hadn’t expected was to be confronted with Sebastian Luc and his girlfriend. She’d gushed over pictures of him in magazines as a teenager.

Sebastian and his supermodel girlfriend made for a beautiful couple, and it seemed that being rich and beautiful didn’t spare them the devastation of infertility, or from their own tumultuous tempers, placing Sam in a very awkward position.

I couldn't get into the story or the characters.

Sebastian Luc your typical aristocratic bad-boy playboy who becomes reformed after experiencing the love the humble poor heroine meh.

I think if Sebastian wasn't the mega rich aristocrat (who's related to royals, parents own stately homes all over Europe and of course has women throwing themselves at him) then he'd be a much more substantial character. I just couldn't get into him at all - he was shallow and one dimensional. Unlike Damon (from book 1) who worked his way up (and works very hard - thoroughly dedicated), Sebastian just came across as spoiled and annoying.

The book relies heavily on clichés - the characters are clichés of clichés.

poor humble girl with non-model looks

It also would have been better if the egg was also the protagonist to make their connection stronger. I also found their interactions extremely dull. Playboy is overwhelmed by ordinary humble poor girl who doesn't act like a model and isn't only interested in fashion (because that's the only thing that occupies models).

Un final muy soso

Ambas novelas me gustaron mucho en esencia. Buenos personajes, buena trama.

Great story

I really enjoyed reading Best Laid Plans. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series. This is the first time I’ve read this author, but can’t wait to enjoy more of her books. Best Laid Plans is well written and more unexpected! It’s not an insta-love type story. Sam and Sebastian have a lot of depth and their relationship grows organically. I definitely recommend it!
