“That plane crash saved my life..."

Eli: I thought a weekend in a remote mountain cabin would help me recover from how badly coming out to my family had gone, but I didn’t expect my pilot and wilderness guide to be so hot I can barely stand it. Jake is everything I’m not--confident, skillful...and straight. But when engine trouble sends our plane crashing into the trees a million miles from nowhere, Jake becomes the only thing standing between me and certain death.

It’s hard enough to trust my survival to a complete stranger--but it’s even harder to resist the urge to watch him bathing in a mountain stream… and I’m starting to think Jake is not quite as straight as I thought. Jake makes me realize I'm worth standing up for, worth fighting for...but will he still feel that way once we’re no longer trapped on the side of a mountain?

Jake: I thought I was just dropping a tourist off, but once we are lost in the woods, I realize Eli is a man on a mission. We should be worried about bears and mountain lions and running out of food, but instead I'm too busy being drawn in by his intensity.

Eli is haunted, mysterious and hurt, and something about that combination makes me fall for him hard and fast. But when we finally make it back to the normal world, between his homophobic parents and my jealous ex, we feel more lost than we ever have. As much as I want Eli, who opened new feelings in me, feelings I've never had for a man before, I'm scared that the obstacles between us might be too great to overcome. Can we figure out how to navigate our family and friends...before our new relationship crashes and burns?

Lost With You is a 70,000-word out-for-you gay romance with high steam and a ton of heart. These boys are going to get their HEA, but it won't be easy.

Okay, I'm done... I can't do it anymore! These people are HATEFUL and it's not just the family, but it was the friends as well. I can't take anymore of this crap.

But first things first: I need the authors to stop naming their books with descriptors (as it is shown on Amazon).
Or said in another way, I will stop reading books where the decriptions are in the title! I feel like it's shady business, and I haven't read one of these yet (except Keira Andrews) where they don't feel... Off, somehow.

But now for the serious business. I'm wondering if an editor has seen this? Because there were a few things making me go:
description
Sentences like this:
That’s what I thought about, when Jake disappeared into the crevice, never to be seen again.

Except that we are at 19%, Jake is one of the MCs (and this is definitely not George R.R. Martin), and the next chapter is from Jake's POV.

Then we have this:
Something like this. A one-night stand with a man you’ve never even met.

Soooooooo, he's a ghost? Or you were sleepwalking? How would you sleep with someone you've never met?

And then the scene where they sleep and sleep together *wink* in the cabin, but wake up outside on pine needles.
Just...
Little niggles like this, that irritated me and took me out of the story.
description

Then we have insta-love. They say the 'I love yous' like two days after they met.

And then we have the hate! And it was plentiful and horrible and ridiculous. Every single person (except Jake and somewhat Eli) was so freaking toxic and meddling and it had me questioning whether Eli and Jake BOTH suffered from 'Stockholm Syndrome' or something like that.

- Eli's parents did not take his "accidental" coming out well. (And seriously he wrote a gay-robot-romance and gave it to his mother, what did he think would happen?!)
But still Eli does everything except lick their shoes, to get them to understand. He knew they kicked his father's brother out because he was gay, they said some horrible things to Eli and still he was like: "No I totally wanna stay with these horrible people." And it is never explained why he has this need to be 'pissed' all over and still comes back for more.

- Eli's sister Amanda (??). She starts off as an ally, but suddenly she's asking to meet Jake in secret, and then she's telling Jake to break it off with Eli. Completely out of the blue!
And when Eli confronts her, she manages to turn it around and come of like a saint, while it's suddenly Eli that's the asshole.
The rage-inducing shit was staggering and we need a *dance break*
description
- Then we have Jake's dad. Jake has this notion that his father is SOOOOOOO freaking great, but at one point it's mentioned that Pop threw Jake out at 16, so there's something iffy there as well.
And if you're planning on reading this book, don't read the next sentence: I think Pop was having an affair with Eli's uncle and he is of course in possession of the book.
Seriously, this is so freaking convoluted!

- Then there's Marcia.... Aaaaahhhhh the lovely caricature of a woman, who just wants everyone around her to be as miserable as she is, and she carries a grudge like it is going out of style and she needs to use up her earned points!
This bitch was so fucking annoying and when she blamed Jake for his Pop's pneumonia, because the old asshole wouldn't listen to reason, I threw in the towel.

“I don’t deserve it, but I’m glad you’re here.” She poured a paper cup of coffee, then stirred sugar into it. “You’re right, you don’t deserve it.”

description

- Lastly we have Eli's friend Cameron, who actually talks some sense, but STILL manages to butt in where he's not invited.

And it was just... These fucktards are HATEFUL and disgusting and I ended up hating Eli for being such a freaking doormat.
This book: definitely not for me.

Eli leaned against me. “When it feels like the world is against us, it makes me want to get even closer to you. That sounds healthy, doesn’t it?”

🛩🛩🛩

The blurb completely drawn my curiosity. I was hoping for a possibility of intense and enough adventure before the rescuing finally come or at least more ‘alone’ time between the two strangers to knowing each other and have some moments, but I need to swallowed all the hope because the after crashed moment only happen in just a moment before the rest of the story moved back into the civilization and their ‘after crashed adventures’ begin in town.

The story actually have the huge potential to develop into something way more deep IF the two MCs didn’t taking turn in annoying me at some level.

Those miscommunication and misunderstanding was very exaggerating, and Jake's ‘habit’ in keeping 'the secrets' was truly maddening. I know he’s still confused with the new fact that he’s actually bi and/or maybe gay, and Eli was his first experience with a guy. But for me what he did a bit annoying.

Eli actually has more potential side for me to love. He’s a writer, and have unique book about gay robots falling in love (sounds interesting huh?), but at some point he can be annoying too.

Eli and Jake must faced a lot of obstacles from the hateful people around them who trying to stand in their way, the family drama with ALL the secrets, Jake struggle (read : uncertainty) to finally come out and the whole process was not easy.

They're both wounded. Both carrying the weight of other peoples’ judgment. They also must deal with their own insecurity before finally reach their own HEA. And everything worth to fight for...

Lost with You story come with good premise, very intriguing start, a bit downhill at the middle, the ending was pretty good with a bit surprise twists and some secrets finally revealed. Even when there’s some part that annoyed me to some level and nearly made me give up, I must admit that whole story is interesting enough to follow.

Eli & Jake
After surviving a plane crash Eli & Jacob find comfort in each other's arms. Once rescued they face heartache and some painful family truths but will their love be enough to get them their HEA?
Amanda, Eli's sister, is great and my favourite line between Eli & Amanda is :- “Would you quit it with the red flags? You’re not a fucking matador.”
Great book Rachel Kane 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Crashing into Love!

A crash, secrets and family issues make the romantic pairing of Eli & Jake dynamic. Good solid love story. I like the MCs and the storyline. Perfect!

I really wanted to like this book. The blurb sounded good and I was hoping for some adventurous bi-awakening story. But this story was all over the place. The MCs were rescued way earlier than I would’ve liked and way too early to build any ground for their relationship. And so their connection / insta love just wasn’t believable. I know these situations heighten your feelings but this was ridiculous. But okay.
When they’re back home the story line really took a turn for the worse for me. It was as if the author couldn’t decide where to go with this book? Was it supposed to be a “survived a plane crash in the wilderness” book? An out-for-you-book? A love triangle? Once they returned from their plane crash the story was all over the place. The once likable sister turns out to be quite hateful and manipulative. The best friend/ ex goes from supportive friend to jealous bitch. The MC switches from confident to being whiny and self conscious and back again every few pages. And don’t get me started on that convoluted family drama. There was just so much hate and forced drama all around. I constantly was rolling my eyes and skipping pages.
This story could have turned out to be really good. The premises were there, but I had to force myself to keep going since the 30% mark.

5 Stars Wow I knew this book would be a great one by the blurb. A first read for this author. This was a great book I loved the characters but sometimes I could've of kicked their butts. The main story evolves around Eli's uncle's mystery book that he wrote before he died. Eli and Jacob starting a relationship together but Jacob is straight. This book is brilliant with a storyline of homophobic views and what it does to families does to a family and esp secrets that come out. I couldn't feel the characters chemistry but their journey together to get to the end is great.
Scenes of angst with Straight/ Gay, danger from plane crashing to wilderness obstacles, family secrets and more.
When a sci-fic writer boards a plane he doesn't know what about to happen. Eli is about to find out.. Running to the cabin where his uncle spent his last days and away from homophobic parents too.
Jacob replaced his sick father to fly a man into the mountains. Jacob had split up from his girlfriend and was a little gay curious. A book definitely worth the read.

Extreme circumstances can bring out either the best or the worst in people and a plane crash is about as extreme as it gets. For Jake and Eli, the crash is just the start. Throughout their story, they are both forced to make some important decisions as well as a few realizations about themselves and those around them. And bless their hearts, the hits just keep coming as they work through family issues and coming out on top of figuring out where they fit in each other's life. There are a few twists along the way and a few family members that I seriously wanted to shake until their teeth rattled, but Jake and Eli are absolutely lovable and they are adorable together. They do fall rather fast, but they certainly face the lion's share of angst in that short period of time. All in all, this one is a great mix of sweet and sexy with some bumps along the way to keep those pages turning.

Ah, this book! It's filled with angst and so many feelings! Both main characters have some issues to work through if they want to be together, and you can easily see from where each of them is coming and what they are facing.

Add to that some family secrets, and some less than healthy family's dynamics and you're set for a truly enticing read.

I truly love Eli and Jake, and really, this book grabbed from the beginning. A very recommended read, indeed.

I liked Eli and Jake, how they struggled to come together, stay together and how they found the hea they deserved. It wasn't easy with family and friends getting in their way, and their own insecurities holding them back. I appreciated how, while down and convinced there was no way to be together, they fought it, talked, loved and made it work. well done.

I thought the story was well written. The story had a nice pace to keep the story moving along. The two main characters had my interest from the get go and chemistry that started to pull them together.
Love the whole story from start to finish. Hope to stalk the authors shelves for more of their books.

Thank you for sharing your book with us.

I picked this book because I wanted a survival story. Their time after the crash is a surprisingly small part of the book but I don't even care. This book is perfectly angsty, has a realistic conflict and two people in love who actually communicate! I read it in one day because it was just too good to stop. 5 stars.

Eli and Jake had some obstacles to get through before they got their HEA. There is a lot of drama, dealing with trying to come out and on top of that just trying to have to start a relationship.
Eli and Jake are both likable characters.
I received a copy for an honest review.

I normally like Rachel's book however this one just did not do it for me.

I understand they go through a traumatic experience but I don't believe it would cause them to have insta love. the characters also don't seem to have much depth to them and Eli came across as quite irritating.

This took me a long time to finish, but I think that was more because of the reading slump I was in than it was any fault of the book.

It was cute, a bit dramatic/soap opera like (which was sometimes frustrating to read), and all in all an entertaining read.

Back to real life

This was really good. Great writing and pacing. Eli could be a little ridiculous at times, but the characters were balanced really well even if I didn’t like all of them. Would definitely recommend.

Not terrible by any stretch, but I can't say I enjoyed it much. Too many horrid, toxic people surrounding the protagonists, whom I also didn't care about all that much. The relationship lacked a bit of chemistry for me.
