Rate this book
What began as rippling waves off the Alaskan coast ended as a fearsome, towering wall of water that swallowed the small town of Hilo, Hawaii. In Tsunami! The 1946 Hilo Wave of Terror, readers will journey to this lush, tropical island to meet neighbors and friends as they prepared for school, work, and daily activities just moments before a crashing wave of terror swallowed their homes-and lives. With the benefit of gripping four-color photos, maps, and a diagram of tsunami formation, students will discover the causes of tsunamis, and learn about advances in warning and safety procedures since the Hilo disaster.

I thought it offered a lot of good info for kids but the variety of pictures and current tsunami coverage was a little lacking.
