I have written many books for business, but more recently I have had what my daughter calls "proper books" published. Three novels: "Long Overdue", "Loose Ends" and "A Rather Curious Crime"; also three books of light-hearted travel writing all set in South East Asia. "First class at last" features a journey on the Orient Express of Asia, out from Singapore, through Malaysia and into Thailand, "Beguiling Burma" features a river trip, and "Smile because it happened" is about things that make you smile in the land of smiles: Thailand.
I am active in the writing world, am a Fellow of SWWJ and a member of the Society of Authors, I write regularly for "Writing Magazine, give talks about my writing (especially the travel writing) and have also conducted writing workshops.
3 for neutral. I’m a very moody reader and it just was too hard for me to really understand what was going on, making it impossible to finish, Will update if able to read and enjoy at a later date.
Sea of Bones is everything it says it is and much, much more. Great job!
Synopsis: Juliet is used to wielding power and influence in her line of work, but when her beloved niece dies, she finds herself powerless in the face of her grief and has doubts over the coroner’s report of suicide. She travels back to her family’s remote coastal home where Beth was found. As Juliet delves deeper into the investigation, her personal and professional lives collide and she unwittingly finds herself pitted against dangerous opposition who seem intent on silencing her. In order to expose the truth behind her niece's death, Juliet must face the fact that nobody in her life is who she previously thought them to be – including herself.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to review this book!
Juliet is haunted by the death of her niece, Beth. Deep down, she feels that she didn't die by suicide, as the police report shows. So what really happened?
This book is a rollercoaster. So much happens, and yet, at the same time, the novel drags on. The first half is very dry and seems to take forever to slog through, and the second half just throws tons of information at the reader. I honestly thought that it wasn't paced well, and that too many things were going on to make it cohesive. Suicide, rock starts, politics, child sex rings, mental illness...all this and more happened in the space of one book. It was a little too much.
Sea of Bones by Debra O'Donoghue is about Juliet, Duncan, and their friends and family as they come to realize that her nieces death had a lot more to it than a suicide.
This is a very dark novel, and deals with very dark material, but is well written and engaging.
The mystery is intense and deals with a variety of very serious topics, and isn't suitable for a young audience, but for fans of Gone Girl or similar novels, this might be worth your time.
I did receive a copy in exchange for an honest review.
This book is definitely not what it seems. It is surprisingly twisted and complex. I had no idea where it was going to take me but I definitely enjoyed the ride, I felt the characters were well developed and interesting enough that I had to keep reading. The relationships between the different characters were well thought out and well placed in the storyline. I can honestly say I didn’t know how the book was going to end until the last minute. Big fan of books like this! Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC for an honest review.
I received an advanced reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review
This book was so so and it was hard at times to get through. It seemed like too many side characters and subplots, some where introduced and never mentioned again, and the narrative never really came together. Solid three
This started well, a young woman’s body is found on a remote beach. However, I really struggled to engage with the writing style as it seems to jump about.
I appreciate the opportunity to preview, thanks to Netgalley and the publishers. Just couldn’t really get into it. Sorry!

Thank you Legend Press and NetGalley for the copy of this book. A slow burner but gripping and atmospheric. A good thriller which kept me interested and the characters were good. Well written and I look forward to the next book.
Oo this was an instering book to read. I abostly loved it. Like holy cow it kept me pulled into it and I might reread it next year. I already told a few people who I think might like this book so hopefully they read it to.
I liked this one a lot. It had a good plot and an atmospheric setting with enough twists and turns to keep you interested. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for letting me review this book
What an amazing novel! The character development was incredible, the story line flowed seamlessly and I was captivated the whole time. Highly recommended!
Complex and dark thriller with lots of strands which need to be connected to solve the mystery. Interesting characters who gave moral dilemmas aplenty.
Thank you to the publisher for sending me an arc. I feel this book has so much more potential. There needs to be more twists and it needs to grip the reader in.
