On Delicate Wings is one of those books that evokes emotion. It might not always be good emotion, and at times left me angry at the main characters for their actions.

And while I would not recommend this book directly to teenagers, I think this book would be great to have parents read with their kids/ discuss the issues dealt with in the book and try to show teens where Mia, the main character, went wrong, and what she should've done differently.

The story crafted is realistic and situations occur that happens to a lot of teenagers today. I remember going through it when I was in high school.

It's a story about bullying, wrong choices, living with consequences, and learning from mistakes.

Great read.

On Delicate Wings was a very touching, heart wrenching and emotional read for me. And I loved every word of it.

The MC, Mia, has to deal with a lot of dark and difficult subjects that unfortunately many teens face nowadays; bullying, peer pressure, dysfunctional families, just to name a few. L.J. Higgins handles it all with such realism and the story completely draws you in.

I highly recommend this book for older teens and adults alike. It will entertain you, move you and break your heart. Great job, Ms. Higgins!

'On Delicate Wings' is the story of Mia, who struggles with her reputation as a nerd at school. When beautiful and charismatic Chelsea arrives, Mia has a chance to befriend Chelsea and become one of the cool kids.

I really had no idea what 'On Delicate Wings' was about going into it. The story really is about Mia's quest to become popular. In Mia's quest to become friends with Chelsea, she gives up her relationships with others. The main relationship she gives up is with her best friend Margaret and her close relationship with her mother. All this change leads Mia's life in a negative direction.

'On Delicate Wings' is a heartbreaking story. It is the story of so many typical teenagers. In their quest to fit in many make the wrong decisions. In this way I found Mia to be very relatable. I think many of us can understand her struggle.

Many times I found myself not really liking Mia at all. At other times I  really could sympathize with her. Chelsea is easy to really despise and is the villain in this story.  However, I think the author really did a great job of showing why Chelsea is the way she is and what drove her to do such manipulative things. Margaret as a character acted as any ditched best friend probably would. She is a good friend to Mia but at is jealous of the 'coolness' Mia has gained.

.

The ending of 'On Delicate Wings' totally took me by surprise. I didn't expect it as all. The way the story ended really added a hard-hitting impact to the rest of the story.

I really enjoyed 'On Delicate Wings'. It is not only the story of everyday teenagers, but also a dramatic story of how bad decisions and the need to be popular can really impact lives.

The need to be popular. The all-pervading desire that has driven so many millions of teens to abandon self-reason and self-identity and be the person everyone wants them to be and not who they are.

Mia is just such a teen, one of the obscure masses at her high school who just doesn't fit in; she's smart, a misfit, a target of the mean girls, and overlooked by the hot guys she wants to be noticed by. Throw in a little harmless dysfunction at home and, yep, Mia is as typical as it gets.

Enter Chelsea, a cool, fearless girl from the wrong side of the tracks who zooms into school and amazingly latches on to Mia. Mia sees Chelsea as a ticket to the "it" crowd, and if she has to compromise her morals a little bit, well, so be it.

This story is an interesting one because not only do you see Chelsea's recklessness rubbing off on Mia, but you also see Mia's goodness rubbing off on Chelsea. But, as is often the case in stories like this, the center cannot hold.

There is a definite message to be found in On Delicate Wings. Many of the supporting characters were little more than stereotypes for me, but Mia and Chelsea were well thought-out and interesting. I would recommend this book for teens.

This is a very thought provoking and heart wrenching story written especially for young adults from high school age on up, but is also for parents to learn from and better help their teenagers to make better life choices. Many teenagers feel a deep lack of confidence trying to fit in with the ‘cool kids’. Mia thought she was a ‘loser’ so when the new girl, Chelsea, comes into the picture, she is easily persuaded to join Chelsea in her downward spiral in order to become popular. Eventually Mia saw through Chelsea and her manipulative ways and decided to turn her life back around. Unfortunately, tragedy strikes but it allows Chelsea to see how she had negatively effected all the people around her. This highly motivates Chelsea to make her life better and eventually help others to not make the same mistakes. At the end of the book Ms Higgins has a number of thought provoking questions that parents can discuss with their children, or teachers with students. I enjoyed reading this book and the life lessons it provides. I could hardly put the book down. It makes my heart go out to all the young people with similar experiences in their own lives. Well worth reading.

How often as teens (and probably far into adulthood) do we wish we were someone else – the popular kid, the cool kid, the one who has it all together. Mia believes all her dreams are coming true when new girl Chelsea thrusts her into the spotlight. It’s where she wanted to be and cool kids try everything right? Drugs, alcohol, and so much more. And suddenly Mia finds herself doing things she never contemplated or wanted in this mad race to be everything she thought would make her happy. Sometimes, getting what you want isn’t a good thing at all. Mid-teens will enjoy this story as will those who want to briefly remember their own teenage years and be glad that time is far behind them. (Says the mother of a teenager.)

Wow

When I first began this book, I was a little doubtful but wow, L.J. Higgins really captured my attention with this story! It has such a powerful message that most teens could relate too! It is so powerful and well written, I almost read it as a memoir.
Everyone must pick this book up.

What a powerful story. Powerful and incredibly sad.

Mia is a girl who operates on the invisible side. She has a best friend and a good relationship with her mother, but at school she goes by unnoticed. The boy she likes doesn't know she exists and the "in" crowd could care less.
When a new girl wants to be Mia's friend, she thinks that's the answer to her dismal life. But Chelsea isn't just any high schooler. She's troubled beyond what Mia could imagine. Will sticking by her side give Mia the in she's always wanted or will it break her beyond repair?

With a shocking ending that no one sees coming, this book will break you. It's so well done and you can't help but feel for each and every one of these characters as they try to navigate more than any teenager should have to.

Be prepared to cry, but don't let that turn you away from a book you won't soon forget.

Who doesn't want to be popular in high school?

When Mia meets Chelsea, her life is flipped upside down and she finds herself getting pulled out of the shadows she used to reside in. But Mia quickly learns that there's more to Chelsea than meets the eye and as they get closer, the more she learns that things aren't always as they seem.

On Delicate Wings is a well crafted story about two teens in high school that are from two completely different worlds. It addresses real life issues and draws you into their stories. It keeps you reading to find what becomes of them and their friendship.

I really enjoyed the reality figure of this story and the message it teaches teens. It's a very inspiring novel that fans of Contemporary Fiction won't want to miss.

On Delicate Wings is a fantastic read. I felt for both Mia and Chelsea as they navigated through some of the hardest times of their lives. Life is so hard these days for teenagers trying to fit in and do whatever is "cool". One thing I really liked is how at the conclusion of the story LJ Higgins has included questions about some of the issues that popped up throughout the story to discuss with your teenager or to think about yourself. I would highly recommend this as a parent to read and I will also be recommending it to my teenagers to read. Sometimes our kids might not open up to us but I feel this book will help with that and give you some topics to discuss together. Awesome job LJ Higgins I can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve for us next.
