This book shows children 8 and up the universe, using the latest amazing information from astronomers around the world, and space probes around the galaxy.
This book by the Usborne publishers is a great book. It keeps the child's interest in Astronomy and has great pictures. I have yet to be disappointed by any of the Usborne books.
I might be a little biased because as a kid it was one of my favorite books. Now that I got it out for my kids, all the nostalgia about my love of astronomy and space is coming back, I'm glad I get to share it!
A wonderful book, you can recommend it to your children or students, whether kids or teenagers. They can spend their free time with this book to read a lot of interesting information about space and do many activities.
1) No awards 2)K-4 3) This book takes the reader on a journey through the solar system. It has detailed pictures and descriptions of space, and is fascinating for a child learning about the solar system. 4) The pictures in this book are great for children, there is a section that provides a map with the constellations, this part of the book is great for kids to try to look into the sky for themselves. It also provides up to date pictures taken from satellites of the rest of the solar system. 5) This is a great book to use when teaching kids about the solar system. It is easy for a kid to read on their own or in a group. I would use this along with a sky map found online to show the kids in two ways about the rest of the universe.
Very basic but it had a few occasional, interesting pages. Some of which had nebulae and famous astronomers. The rest of the facts were repeated throughout the book or were that every book has e.g. one light year is the distance light travels in a year. It only has one page about equipment and home astronomy which is just ‘ you need powerful telescopes, cameras as some things are hard to see with the naked eye.
Mommy would like to sit and read this entire book which is a surprisingly in-depth astronomy book. It includes all the planets, solar systems, moons, and constellations. Not age appropriate for Emerson.
Another great Usborne science book. Only out of date about Pluto, but hints that some scientists don't think it is a planet. Can be worked around. We always enjoy the option of the internet links even if we don't use them often.
Some of the reference material was probably a little more in-depth than strictly required, but this book provides a good introduction to astronomy for the young reader.
A brief but excellent look into space. This could be used as a children’s introductory science book, but it also has enough information to interest adults, as well.
