As I see other reviewers have said already, this is a neat little book that pulls lots of short, useful advice together in one spot. Nothing really new to me, but I will be taking up some of the ideas on defining my view of success.
I really like the concept of this book. It's great to see all the age-old wisdom nuggets collected in one place, and explained in modern words for the new generations.
As a long-time personal development books reader, I didn't really learn any new idea from this book. Having said that, I could see how it could be really valuable for young girls and new graduates or other people starting their new career journey. It also had great concepts for people wanting to change career or start fresh.
For non newbies, I would suggest to skip the first half of the book and even perhaps straight to the Game Plan. I really like the 'Nailing It' section and the Game Plan list of questions to ensure you understand your vision, definition of success, strength and weakness. And to turn everything into your own personalised Game Plan. The list was a good refresher for me.
Lastly, I wished the book wasn't just targeted for girls, but rather for all gender. Because all new starters would learn something valuable from the concept.
But definitely a great read I'd be recommending to the younger generation.
This was an interesting book for those looking to make their own way in the business world especially and has some good hints, tips, and tricks to try out. There's a lot of affirmation in here as well, and it allows for there to be mistakes made, which isn't something that a lot of self-help books even mention, let alone say is okay. However, I didn't find much for myself in it as I'm simply not at that stage. I was really hoping this would have some applicability for studying and school, not just business, and especially for independent work, but that wasn't really part of this.
This book could have also done with some interesting background as to why women make up such a small percentage of CEO's and the like too, just so the reader is aware some things are out of their hands. I wanted this to just focus on a few more areas, but if this is your adventure, this is a good handbook to springboard from.
A good book for self reclections, planning and valuing one self. It brings out a different level of excitement towards life with such subtle, simplicity, good quotes and a good flow of ideas. I would highly recommend. One of the books that deserves more than one read.
Generic decent life advice, doesn't really deliver of the title. The highest praise I had for it was 'less ablest than you'd expect' until I got to the line "Nothing great can happen if you're not healthy". Sorry, but if you're disabled or chronically ill, may as well pack it in now, I guess 🤷♀️
