When society falls, do you have what it takes to start again?
A year has passed since a devastating EMP struck the planet, leaving survivors in a dangerous world without power or communications.
Mike is one of those survivors. He has been living at a nearby military outpost for the last few months. He is growing used to the idea of settling at this place, as the country finally starts to rebuild.
But not everyone has the same idea about the future. When a supply raid goes wrong, Mike learns a staggering secret that puts him at odds with a treacherous new foe--a foe that threatens to destroy everything they've worked towards.
Does Mike have what it takes to battle unpredictable elements and dangerous enemies as the country continues to crumble? Does he have what it takes to protect his family? Does he have what it takes to survive in this world?
After the EMP, nothing can be taken for granted...

I can’t get enough of this guys books. I’m really looking forward to find out what happens at the end of dead days but between reading that I have read the Brian McDone series which was fantastic I think and the other EMP series as well. I don’t know how all these stories can go through a persons head and be able to put it to paper but I’m glad Ryan Casey found a way. I have not read a book by him that I’ve been bored by so far and nearly finished them all so that must mean something I think. Well worth the read
I really did not enjoy this book because his characters are stupid. The first book was not so bad because it appeared Mike at least had some common sense, but in the last book his not getting the rifles from the dead soldiers threw me for a loop. In this book when the safe zone was attacked and he did not have the sense to pickup a rifle, well, stupid, idiotic and total morons.
I read the box set and knew that I had to read the whole series. Great characters and back stories grab your attention so each of them you become quite attached to. This book brings a different group of crazies back into Mike's people. Just when did the name Safe Haven, lead us to believe that it really was a safe place? Very intense.
