Rachel’s neighbor, Julia, was thrilled to be chosen as a judge in Juniper Grove’s annual garden show, so when the owners of the prize-winning garden invite her to a celebratory party, Rachel tags along. But the party comes to a crashing halt when one of Julia’s fellow judges drops dead. As Rachel struggles to piece together the events that led to the judge’s murder, she soon discovers that lies and ruthless ambition rule the supposedly genteel world of gardening.
In her race to discover the killer, Rachel must juggle her worries about Julia’s safety with her increasingly frustrating love life. Convinced her romance with Chief Gilroy has stalled and that he is keeping secrets from her, she must decide whether to accept things as they are or rock the boat.
This light, cozy mystery offers a clean read with a female amateur sleuth in a small-town setting. No foul language, sex, gore, or graphic scenes of any kind. It can be read as a standalone, but it will be enjoyed more as part of the series.

Karin Kaufman grew up devouring murder mysteries, especially of the cozy kind. Give her a mystery, a comfy couch, her sweet dog at her side, and (preferably) a rainy day, and she’s in heaven. She’s the author of the Juniper Grove Cozy Mystery Series, the Smithwell Fairies Cozy Mystery Series, and the Anna Denning Mystery Series. The Witch Tree, the first book in her Anna Denning series, was a finalist for a Grace Award. Karin also writes children's books in the Geraldine Woolkins and Woolkins Bookshelf series.
Another entry that I greatly enjoyed in this series! Wonderful characters & another interesting mystery. These are quick reads, but the stories never feel rushed. Looking forward to the next in the series!
Juniper Grove is having their annual best of garden contest and Julia has been asked to be a judge. After the contest is over there is a party at the winning house when suddenly one of the judges keeled over and dropped dead. Julia and her friend Rachel Stowe, mystery writer, girlfriend of the town police chief and amateur detective is also present at the party. Once the police process the scene and the body is removed, they question everyone because the coroner ruled that it was a murder by poison. Who amongst the guests would want to murder this poor woman? It seems that there are a lot of snide comments and innuendos going around Juniper Grove and Rachel is there to listen to it all. Rachel and her gang of sleuths begin to investigate to help the police solve the murder. After questioning one of the garden contest judges, this judge, Stella is found murdered inside her own greenhouse. Is someone specifically targeting the garden contest judges? Holly and Rachel along with Royce are afraid for Julia's safety so they keep a close watch on her. Will the gang be able to keep Julia from harm and solve the murders? This is another winner in the Juniper Grove series and it has an excellent conclusion.
Awesome. When, what should have been a fun event, judging the best garden in their community turns sour with a death at the winner's party things get really bleak. Are the judges at risk? As her good friend and neighbour was one of them. To make sure nothing happens to her the team are back on the sleuthing trail. What they find out surprises them. Another death rocks the group. Plus she and her Police Chief have had a bit of a misunderstanding. Can the group find the killer before anyone else gets hurt? Will she and the Chief resolve their differences? A nice plot that's well thought out and will have you heading in the wrong direction. Loved seeing how the characters lives are evolving.
'Jealousy and infidelity. You can't go wrong with placing your bet on those two dragons.'
I absolutely love Karin Kaufman's cozy mystery series! This is the ninth and now I can't wait for the next one. This time Rachel Stowe and her fellow Juniper Grove Mystery Gang members, Julia, Holly and now, Royce, whose addition to the gang is great, must try and solve a murder which happens at a garden party. Julia just happens to be a judge at this event. Will her life be in danger, too? Travel along with the gang, and Chief Gilroy as they solve the latest mystery in this small Colorado town. And....Kaufman gives us a great surprise! Loved it!
Another winner of a cozy mystery! Rachel is once again at the scene of a murder in Juniper Grove and it is up to her, the Mystery Gang, and the small police force to determine who killed and poisoned Caroline at the Garden Show. As always, Karin Kaufman does a masterful job of giving out clues throughout, red herrings, and then surprises you with who the murderer was (). The characters are once again top notch and Kaufman even gives us another little surprise at the end not related to the murder (although I actually guessed this part!).
I have read all of the Juniper Grove Mystery Books so far. Each one gets better, I can imagine sitting down with coffee & a cream puff to help Rachel and the Mystery Gang solve the murder. Grab a cup of coffee and relax, you'll enjoy the visit to Juniper Grove.
I love this series! The characters are so interesting and work so well together! The storyline in this book was quite interesting too! I LOVED the ending and we'll it leaves it open for another book!
Dumb motive but then aren't they all in real life? Another story where who-dun-it was kept secret until the end. I did have a suspicion early on, however. Very joyful scenes described, can almost smell the flowers' fragrance!
This has become a great series. Very Entertaining! Love the characters and the development of them. As you read you feel as your part of the story, it is so well written it just pulls you in. Great Reading Everyone!
