Young Jessie Farrell is always being left behind. When she gets lost in a corn maze on Halloween Eve, she is befriended by a Unicorn named Gus who takes her on an adventure to meet the Spirit Bear who guards the pumpkin patch from a pumpkin stealing rat.

This is the first in a series of short bedtime stories about Jessie and Gus, son of the Unicorn King. This story is written in an easy to read play type of format.

The tale of Jessie and Gus was a favorite of the kids during the author's school readings. One class of eight year-olds asked if they could participate in the reading. The kids had a blast reading their parts out to the class and got quite into the characters, hence the format.

Stay tuned for more adventures with Jessie and Gus.

I love this cover! The story is a magical Halloween tale that kids will enjoy, and the length is perfect for their short attention spans. Listening to this book reminded me of sitting in the library listening to story time with my kids. The reader (and author) of the audio book has a pleasant storytelling voice. Instead of changing voices for the different characters, she names off the character who is speaking. While I personally found that a little distracting, it might make it easier for young children who have a hard time keeping track of who is who.

A cute story for the young (and young at heart).

Jesse feels like she is invisible in her large family. When the family goes to the local Corn Maze, Jesse goes off on her own and the adventure begins!

A Unicorn named Gus comes along when Jesse gets lost and takes her on a truly good time. Unicorns, Halloween, magical bears.....a great short read for all ages.

The narrator did a good job, but there was quiet a bit of background noise, which was a little distracting.

I love holiday stories!
This is a family tale about going to a farm shortly before Halloween.
What does one do there? Search for pumpkins, of course. Always a bonus if there if a maze or tractor ride.
I could relate to Jessie. I was the youngest sister and could not keep up with my long legged brothers.
If you don't speak up and keep up, there was a chance to be left behind.

Jessie has a wonderful imagination. Or does she?
She meets Gus and has an adventure of her own.

What a cute story! Brings back fond memories! It's nice to be taken away so effortlessly to such a fun and magical place. Great story and the narration was awesome. I think any little one (and even the bigger/older ones :-)) would LOVE it! Jessie and Gus are a great combination :)

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

A good candidate for a school play.

A good candidate for a school play. After all this was written like a script and had a good child friendly story.

My son & I listened to this book together before bed. This was a cute story. He really enjoyed it and look forward to hearing the other books. I received this audiobook free of charge at my request in return for my honest review.
