Normani Pope has always dreamed of the day she would be able to live a life out of an Urban Fiction novel. An endless bankroll, access to the latest designer clothes, and the envy of every chick on the block are all part of her fantasies when she meets Ward, an up and coming dope boy.
When Ward stakes a claim to the beautiful Normani, she accepts without hesitation, a decision she makes without considering the consequences that comes with dating a dope boy. The lifestyle Ward provides is as lavish as Normani expects, but she soon pays the price for being a thug’s solace when she’s the victim of a botched murder-suicide. Unable to return home, Normani is sent to live with her estranged aunt in Brooklyn. It is there that Normani lays eyes on a shiny red Lamborghini with no idea that its owner was going to change her life for better and worse.
Uriah “Urban” Mackenzie has always been held in a high esteem throughout the streets, and not because of his charismatic charm, deep chocolate eyes, and politician’s smile. Urban is the head of “The Trust,” a prestigious crime organization known for running guns, human trafficking, and funneling millions of dollars in cocaine throughout the East Coast.
Urban leads The Trust with an iron fist, refusing to allow anyone to one up him lest they deal with his wrath. He has New York City in the palm of his hand, with everyone bending to his will, except a bold and brazen Normani. Love has never been on Urban’s radar—even with a longtime girlfriend on his arm—but Normani’s beautiful eyes and damaged smile pulls him in. Soon Urban finds that he's willing to risk the life and legacy he’s built to see if the grass is truly greener on the other side.
I really enjoyed reading this book! Read the book!!! It'll keep you engaged from being to the very last page! I was screaming & fussing at the same time! I'm hoping Normani get a piece of happiness in her young life. Urban is that guy we all wished we could have a piece of. I really am curious to know who Normani father is. So many questions, and I will patiently wait for part 2! Thanks Ty for an amazing e Read.
This was my first time reading a book by this author and I was not disappointed at all. I loved the flow of the story. Pam is definitely up to something. I feel for Normani and didn't see the a lot of stuff coming. I'm definitely reading part 2 because I need to see what happen next.
This storyline was really good... I could not stop reading... The secrets, lies and drama just kept coming... The only problem I had was the errors... There was soooo many errors that it took away from the storyline... It could have definitely been a 5 start read if the errors were not so bad... Normani was in the middle of so many things... And the bad part is everything that she was caught up in had nothing to do with her... She was moved to a different state to keep her safe... But was this move really good for her... Just when she started getting comfortable and things started changing for the good... She gets caught slippin and caught up in some mess that once again she had nothing to do with... Not only that, with this happening who can she really trust... While still coming out of one situation and trying to figure that out a big secret that I did not see coming was revealed... I was in shock... This caused her to make rash decisions and now she is stuck in a bad situation... All because her feelings are all over the place and she does not know who she can trust or what her next move should be... Her cousin Trish also has a lot going on that she just does not know how to get out of this situation... She keeps trying only to be brought back in by force again and again... Just when she was ready to give up.. Here comes Koi to the rescue...this started a whole chain of events.. Will Trish give Koi a chance... Is Koi ready to be the man that Trish deserves... Will Normani be able to get out her current situation or is this really the end for her... Will she be able to find love with the man that has captured her heart... Now to see where part 2 will take this story...
This book was good from beginning to the end. Held my attention to the very end and what a ending. Really love Urban would love for him and Normani to be together. I don't like Shahily and I feel she's hiding something. So glad Angel got exactly what he deserved. Can't wait to see the growth in Trish and Koi is going to be the one to help her know her worth. Grandma Glory was too much with her six men in rotation...Loved it. So many secrets and I know it's more to come. Highly recommended. Job well done Tya Marie.
This book was so good. I really enjoyed it...I love me some Urban...I would love for him to leave that fiancée for Normani...lol...I hated Angel and he got exactly what he deserved...Tya you really outdid yourself with this book. This is most definitely a must read....Lordy the bomb that was dropped at the end blew my mind...I definitely didn’t see that coming...I can’t wait to read part 2...BTW I love Grandma Gladys with her 6 men in rotation...lol
This was a very good read. I really enjoyed it from beginning to the end. Everything took its time to unravel, but it did, leaving you with jaw dropping moments. I liked the storyline. It was well written and I never expected it to go where it did. Even though things are not crystal clear.... I’m sure it would be cleared up in part two.
This book had so many surprises, twist and turns wheredo I begin? The first page has you hooked. Normani was uprooted from ATL because of tragedy headed to NY to even more tragedy. I believe she can be saved by Urban because I know he has some feelings for her I can’t wait for book 2
It's at the end already?! It just started getting into the story. Anyway I like Urban he tells it like it is and I also like his brothers. The big shocker Nicole being Normani mom.... Wow!!!! I can't wait to see what happens with them in book 2. I like Trish and hope she gets a good man to love her. This was a good read. Great job Tya!
Man it was sooo much going on, but i loved Uriah from the start 😍 Urban is that man, Normani is a special souls and Urban feels it too, it’s Messed up that Nikki is her mom, didn’t see that one coming, Trish deserves for the cousin to get his cheating days behind him and do her right, he already came through and saved her from jumping, on to book 2
Normani lives in make believe world. Her parents are not right n the head. Nicole just surviving the big city, Trish is so lost believe a old ass man. Urban twisted in the head about his da needing Sha. Sha just a gold digger Koi to quite for me , Malone is straight psycho and a snake, evil and can’t be trusted. Gladys is the only one so far has since.
Wow. Is the first word I can say. What in the world is going on? It's too many secrets going on in this book. I am truly blown away, I never seen it coming. I will have to wait on part2 ro see what it will be. Fantastic Job Tya Marie.
When will part 2 be ready!! I did not see that part coming. Nicole is thw mother!!!! What will happen to Normani. Will her New York love come and save her? Will her mother come and save her??
This is the first book I've read by Tya Marie and to say that this book was good is a understatemen. I found out about this author from one of Bianca's books and I'm glad I read it. I definitely can't wait for part 2.
Listen this book had me from the beginning and it took my breath away with the way it ended. Lies, deceit and secrets are the recipes for a banger and this is it!
Really good read ... The only thing that kinda confused me was the characters changing ages randomly but other then that's I enjoyed the book I loved the character development it wasn't rushed and I'm eagerly waiting on part 2
OMG!!! This book is so good I couldn't put it down!!!! I want Normandi to get away, will she? Will Urban and Normandi ever get together.? I can't wait to see what is going to happen. Very good book.
I don't know what's going on with normani mom I don't like it not one bit. Ice deserve what she got playing normani like she did. Angel I was so happy when Nicole did him in This book was a great read from start to finish.
Y’all this book has so much going on! But all are good things. This is one that i couldn’t put down even when i was tired and sleepy myself. I can’t wait to get to the next book
