When I wrote my first novel, Paranormal Nonsense, I was a Captain in the British Army. I would love to pretend that I had one of those careers that has to be redacted and in general denied by the government and that I have had to change my name and continually move about because I am still on the watch list in several countries. In truth though, I started out as a mechanic. Not like Jason Statham, sneaking about as a contract killer, more like one of those greasy gits that charge you a fortune and keep your car for a week when all you went in for was a squeaky door hinge.
At school, I was mostly disinterested in every subject except creative writing, for which, at age ten, I won my first award. However, calling it my first award suggests that there have been more, which there have not. Accolades may come but, in the meantime, I am having a ball writing mystery stories and crime thrillers and will claim to have more than a hundred books forming an unruly queue in my head as they clamor to get out.
Now retired from the military, I live in the south-east corner of England with a pair of lazy sausage dogs. Surrounded by rolling hills, brooding castles, and vineyards, I doubt I will ever leave, the beer is just too good.

Entertaining mystery listening 😉😁
This kindle novella is from my Kindle Unlimited account short story.
He is a private detective. He has been hired to catch zombies. His investigation does not find zombies but leads to the arrest of criminals.
I would recommend this series and author to readers of mystery fantasy novels 🤔😎. 2024 👒🤗

Still not sure what happened to the granny at the end

There has been a recent spate of ''zombies'' appearing out of nowhere in the Kent region which has attracted the attention of Tempest Michaels and his new office assistant Jim/Jane (now no longer a vampire - see book one - and living with his/her boyfriend). One in particular known as ''zombie granny'' has attracted the attention of people courtesy of YouTube and her husband wants to hire Blue Moon Investigations to find out why she turned into a zombie. The same day the zombie converts suddenly turn up in Rochester right in front of Tempest and his bookshop owning friend Frank. Knowing that there must be a normal explanation and having an idea of what might have caused the sudden outbreaks Michaels makes a beeline for a local casino, arriving just as his assistant Jim/Jane is pretending to be a zombie in a gang of zombies. He confirms Michaels suspicion and they manage to capture the guilty parties. Just another interesting afternoon in the diary of Blue Moon Investigations.
An excellent short story.

This was a very funny short story, a part of the Blue Moon Investigations series. Despite the fact that it's book no. 3.5 and I haven't read the first three books in the series, I could follow along just fine, so it would make a great introduction into the main series and the author's writing style.
Tempest Michaels is an accidental paranormal investigator; by that I mean that he is a private investigator who is misadvertised as a paranormal investigator (children, this is why, even in the digital age, good penmanship is a must). He doesn't even believe in the paranormal, yet he continues to get calls for shape-shifting neighbors and gnome-infested gardens. This time he is investigating a possible zombie outbreak in small-town England. It's funny and fun and keeps you guessing. Are the zombies real? Will Tempest be bitten and reduced to a brain-obsessed undead accidental paranormal investigator?
The writing is fast-paced and the dialogue and descriptions are both filled with wit and humor. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and will be looking for more Blue Moon Investigations books to read.
Also - there was no violence, gore, sex, or language, and no characters, living or otherwise, were killed during the events of the story. A good, clean read for the whole family!

"Zombie Granny" is short - that is a good thing. If it was a prequel it might make some sense (though it would not have drawn me into the series).
Zombies are launching random attacks, but Tempest knows better - along with Frank he puts an end to it quickly.
It amazes me that Steve Higgs bothered to write this without making it a chapter in one of the longer books.
Close to dreadful, very close.

This is an adorable short story about a hoard of Zombies (at first just old people thus called Grannie Zombies) overtaking a small village causing disruption all over the place --- made me chuckle to myself! I NEVER in my life thought I would read about Zombies but, what a great introduction to them!

Very entertaining short story. I already know the protagonist by reading another book from this series so I didn’t need any arm twisting to get me to read Zombie Granny. It is as witty as I expected. I highly recommend it and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I'm not a zombie fan, usually won't read anything with zombies in it... but I'm very glad I made an exception in this case! It was short, action filled and hilarious. Engagingly written, and exactly what I needed to read in these days of an actual world pandemic. I haven't read any other books in the series but that didn't detract from the story.

Tempest Michaels and the Zombies--not really. I think the best thing about this series is the humor; at no time does anyone take themself truly seriously. The solution here was very mundane; however, I was totally entertained. I really like James/Jane and the other rather crazy characters. Reoommended.

This story was a good bit of fun. Tempest, the private detective who accidentally was billed as a paranormal detective, has his hands full when asked to investigate the zombie granny. Bands of zombies are rampaging in different towns and it is up to him to figure out what is happening. Though it is not a difficult mystery it is enjoyable.

Overall, a short little side story in the Blue Moon Investigation series that hit the spot. While not going into too much detail and spoilers, this particular short story felt like a quick step into the semi-daily life of Tempest Michaels on a bad day. Worth checking out if you’re a fan of the series, but not extremely important.

Tempest Michaels is starting a new case trying to find out how people are being turned into zombies. A viral video goes live of a zombie granny getting hurt while attacking people. Only when she breaks her hip she snaps out of the zombie trance. Tempest has to figure out who is behind it and why.

Okay for a shortie
This book was not what I was expecting at all, it caught me a bit off guard actually. But the author did bring humor to the book and poor little granny wasn't a real zombie. I would say these are fun rates but not something I would read all the time.

Short story which means that the action has to be fast.
Tempest gets involved in all sorts of paranormal investigations - only to prove that the mysteries are all caused by humans.

I believe I was able to enjoy this short story so much because I am already familiar with the characters, but whether you have read other Blue Moon Investigations books or not - give it a try - it's great fun!

This was a very quick read. The investigation wasn't complex because of the brevity of the story but it was still written well and gives an introduction to the series that the main characters are a part of.

Wonderful story! Just too short! I wish I could meet his characters in person and have some tea with them.
