In a world dominated by greed and political loyalties, the line between right and wrong is often completely blurred.

He wanted more than revenge.  His was a vendetta, a vendetta that he was capable of carrying out.  Tenodod was a cyber hacker who knew how to use the skills he developed while working for one of the most powerful systems developers in the world.  Only now, he was using those talents to bring down Bertram Lynnworth, Chairman and CEO of ESTG, and would continue until his vendetta was fulfilled, no matter who got hurt in the process.

Mystery, romance, and intrigue in a suspense filled thriller that will leave you asking how to protect yourself and your family.

We Own You appeared on every monitor in every ESTG facility around the world.  There Is No Escape voiced the laughing clown as Tenodod took over every system within the company.

Hackers can steal your identity, control your car, access your secret files.  What if one had a grip on your beating heart?  What if it only took 11 seconds?

Tenodod would make Bertram crawl for what he did to all those innocent people.  Unfortunately, Marc Lynnworth, Bertram's unsuspecting son, and hundreds of others, would become pawns in Tenodod's evil plot.  "I never wanted anyone to die; I only wanted your father to see the error of his ways."

A suspenseful, mind-piercing look into the very real secrets of cyber terrorism.

With a plot so real, you'll keep looking over your shoulder.  11 Seconds will draw you in and make you wonder not if - but when will it happen to you?

When asked why he writes under a pseudonym, he explains it this way, "My birth name was John Charles, but shortly after I was brought home, my parents changed it to Larry. I never got the real reason and I still have that original birth certificate." When he decided to write and publish, he chose to use his birth name - John Charles.

As a youngster, he had trouble reading. While in college, he learned that he had a form of dyslexia. When he was taught how to overcome the issues it caused, a new world opened for him. He now reads constantly.

John loves to read M/M mystery romance as well as action / adventure novels. He can be found with his Kindle or iPad in his hands most of the time.

He spent years in the technology industry and found himself immersed in writing marketing brochures, and technical and operations manuals. Writing fiction was not his lifelong dream, but emerged after his youngest went off to college. The writing bug stuck and now he writes every day.

Being single and living at the beach in southern Delaware has its benefits, too. You can frequently find him walking along the water's edge before the rest of the tourists and vacationers have awakened. He says that the secluded beach time is most precious.

The plots in his novels come from real life situations. "I have always believed that real life is more interesting than anything a person could make up. I listen, keep my eyes open, and let the world give me the ideas that make my stories believable and interesting."

"I find myself enjoying writing more than anything I've ever done in my life."

This, I think, is by far my favorite book out of this series. It was very suspenseful and kept you on your toes. My only problem, that has been with all of the books of this series, is it needs better editing. A lot of grammatical errors were made and some were simple. Other than that, this was a very good book.
Marc was a hacker, but he used his hacking for good. He would hack into companies to figure out what was wrong with their security, leave them a list of what was wrong and leave it be. But Marc stumbled on a hacker that was determined to cause major harm. This Tenodod was causing major wrecks, causing subway trains to derail, and who knows what he’s going to be up to next. Marc joins the alphabet groups to try to put a stop to it, but ends up put in harm’s way himself. All the hacker, Tenodod, really wants to do is make Marc’s father, Bertram, confess to what evils he’s done, and for him to be punished. But Tenodod went too far by taking Marc. And Bertram doesn’t seem to care anyway. But will Marc and everyone be able to stop Tenodod from his next major attack before the worst kind of devastation is caused?
People like Marc’s father, I swear, need to be throat punched or something. He treats Marc like he’s a criminal and Marc and the rest of his family like they are dirt beneath his feet. He let his job go to his head and that’s all he cares about. But even though Marc may be a hacker, he does what he does for good. He helps companies get better secure and things like that. He got thrown into a world he should have been no part of, thanks to his asshole father. And that baby went through hell. Thankfully, because he was good at what he did, people listened, but at what cost? That was the problem in a nutshell.. Marc is still just a baby really. Yeah, he’s in college and considered age wise to be a man, but really. Just a kid. Thrown into a game most men wouldn’t dare.
Some new characters were brought in on this one. Asher was there, of course, but there were more key players this time. And people who realize that while there are good ones in government, there are also those who don’t care and are just trying to look like big boys. Definitely the best of the series for me.

This was a very interesting read for me, while I love a good mystery...I am lost when it comes to technology. This book is all about cyber security and cyber crime and a lot of the tech speak was way over my head. Lol. It does not interfere with the story line at all, even the clueless like me can follow along.
What I found so intriguing about this story is that Tenodod (bad guy) and Theatzoon (good guy) are flip sides of a coin. They both process the same basic skills, really not basic at all. These two are hardcore hackers, but where one chooses to do good, the other chooses to go bad.
The family dynamics that play into Marc’s (Theatzoon) life cause quite a few plot twists. We have a love affair with Kyler, family drama, a crazy hacker wanting to destroy the world, every government alphabet agency involved in a race against time. In the center of all of this, it’s often easy to forget that Marc is just a college student who has been thrust into all this crazy.
One thing I would have like to have seen was a little more romance, even though I know it's not labeled romance. This is such an intense book throughout, a little more stolen moments between Marc and Kyler would have been nice, but that's just me, just my preference. This was a good read, the author did a great job of hiding the bad guy. There is a lot going on, but it all has purpose and in the end, you really are rooting for good to conquer evil. All in all, I really enjoyed this one. John Charles is a newer author for me and has some other titles I’m definitely interested in reading.

Great Read

I've read other books by Charles, and found "11 Seconds" to be a very interesting and intriguing premise. As with all books, there are pros and cons, but this story is definitely worth the read. It's an MM romance with a thrilling plot. Some characters have more depth than others, and some are more likeable that others, but as a reader we don't have to like all the characters, even if the author wants us to. Marc is the main character, and he's very intelligent, but he also has some family baggage. I enjoyed the hunt for the hacker, but also showing the relationship between Mark and Kylar. Great read.

3 Stars!

So I’m not quite sure how to rate 11 Seconds because I’m not quite sure how I feel about it. It was an incredibly intriguing premise and that blurb had me bouncing with excitement to sink my teeth into it. I love thrillers and I thought the whole idea of Cyberterrorism would be exciting. The author definitely has a wicked imagination to come up with this story and develop the character of Tenodod. I’m not sure if it was just me though, but I just couldn’t get lost in the story the way I’d hoped.

What I Loved: Again, the premise. I found the idea extremely exciting. Tenodod is a Cyber Terrorist determined to bring down Bertram Lynnworth and his company for how their greed, negligence and apathy destroyed lives. Bertram initially suspects and accuses his son Marc but it is clear Marc didn’t do it. Marc, however, is smart and resourceful, good at what he does so he decides to find the person responsible.

What I Liked: I liked the twists and turns that come with a story like this. I really liked the idea of how something like this happening would impact us today with our dependence on technology.

What I Didn’t Like: Unfortunately, I did not feel like I connected to the characters. Marc was likable and I wanted to love him but I had difficulty doing so. I felt as if the dialogue was a bit stilted and more “telly” than “showy”. I wanted to feel the same emotions he felt when I was reading but I just didn’t.

As for the rest of the characters, it was a similar feeling. I felt very disconnected from them. Kylar, Marc’s boyfriend, was probably the worst because I didn’t care for him at all.

Overall, this is one I would say you have to decide for yourself about. There is a real possibility that my mood had a lot to do with my feelings while I read 11 Seconds.

11 Seconds
By John Charles
Main Characters: Marc & Kylar
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.
4 out of 5 stars
Enjoyed this book but it took me a little getting into it because it seemed more of a cyber terrorism book than an m/m romance. It grew on me and I wanted to see how it ended so it was hard to put down. I think this would be considered an m/m romantic suspense book. I would like to see a little more character development. I had a hard time with some of the more techie stuff and I also would like a little more romance. All in all this was a pretty good read.
