Moonprints breathes life into the old tale of Artemis and Callisto. Delicately crafted each poem touches subjects such as love, femininity, trauma, loss, grief and what we do in order to heal. It is a blossoming story with over 50 poems about two girls falling in love and learning that sometimes when you look for something you find healing in another person.
Ramona Meisel is an artist, writer and mythology nerd living in Germany. She’s a strange human hybrid of mended bones and a soul ripped apart at the edges. Her tongue is sharp enough to cut and her mind keen enough to bleed. When she’s not haunting the net she’s perfectly content to lose time in prose and poetry.
A modern take on Artemis and Callisto, which is an incredibly under-explored topic in Greek myth, and I loved the way it’s written as always with Ramona Meisel’s poetry.
2nd read in December 2020: I loved this one so much, I love how it's about Artemis slowly healing from her loss but also her guilt. Callisto and Artemis are so in love and beautiful together, I loved that Callisto is Artemis' future and this is what scares her.
1st read in May 2020: I've been so intrigued with Artemis and Callisto relationship since it was mentionned in Sunchoked and boy was I not disappointed. I also really love how all of the stories are linked together and should be read as a whole.
