Debbie Mason is the USA Today and Publishers Weekly bestselling author of the Christmas, Colorado series and the Harmony Harbor series. The first book in her Christmas, Colorado series, “The Trouble with Christmas,” was the inspiration for Hallmark’s “Welcome to Christmas.” Her books have been praised by RT Book Reviews for their “likable characters, clever dialogue, and juicy plots.” When Debbie isn’t writing, she enjoys spending time with her family in Ottawa, Canada.
Olivia’s life has been one heartache after another, but what happened the day one little girl showed up in her life would throw anyone for a loop and send them spiraling even further out of control. The last person she expected to come to her rescue is the very person who has called her out on her weaknesses. He also has the potential to rock her world forever, if they both take that one leap of faith.
PRIMROSE LANE by Debbie Mason is one of those sweet romances that has hidden thorns beneath its budding petals. Pretty sure Ms. Mason has thrown in every bump, every heart-tug and made Olivia’s journey to happiness one of the rockiest roads ever.
Olivia is in crisis mode and has been since the events that pulled her heart out of her chest and replaced it with agonizing pain. Finn’s less than comforting bedside manner belies the compassionate doctor he is. His fear of falling in love, as well as his refusal to actually see it made me want to scream.
Heavy on the “Oh no, that did NOT just happen,” this tale is proof that love is an uphill battle and only the strong can survive.

This was such a wholesome, cute, and enjoyable story!
First off, I want to mention that although this is a third novel in a series, this book can be read as a standalone. I read this book as a standalone and didn't feel as if I was missing out on any components within the story. If anything, my enjoyment of this novel only encourages me to go on the hunt and read some of the previous titles within this series.
Overall, this story can be summarized in one word: charming. Yes, there is more to it than just charm but from the characters to the cozy setting, it was purely....charming. It was easy to pick this up and quickly become enchanted within the story, settling in for a cozy evening of reading.
As well, even though everything surrounding this story sounds pleasant, it does face difficult topics and the characters are relatable in the sense that they are not perfect. These characters read as if they are real people having their own individual issues and struggles. I loved that. Even in works of fiction, it's nice to see "imperfect" characters facing their own daily difficulties.
This was a cute, quick, and enjoyable read--all of which Debbie Mason is known for. I have read Debbie Mason books in the past and I know I will continue to in the future. They are consistently well done and are a pocket sized semblance and reminder of home.

Well, she was here, just not here, here. She’d been dead— or undead as the case may be— going on seven months now. Perhaps “passing” would be a more accurate term because she seemed to be betwixt and between. She’d seen the light all right, only she’d been lollygagging, worrying about the ones she was leaving behind, and therefore missed the magic carpet ride to heaven.
Chard-a nay-nay.
How had she not noticed that the smiles and laughter that she’d faked for so long, that she’d felt only on the surface, had become real and bone deep? She’d never expected to be truly happy again. To have those moments of pure joy that set your heart and mind on fire.
My Review:
More secrets were exposed, a slow burn romance developed, and the ghostly hauntings continue in the latest installment of this cute series. Family dramas take center stage with a unique plot twist among the large cast of characters. I enjoy the humor and creative storyline and look forward to the widows and family meddling with the remaining two brothers.
In this third outing in the Harmony Harbour series, Primrose Lane, we head back to Greystone Manor and into the lives of both the event planner, Olivia who is struggling with a past that continues to haunt her and a true identity she’s trying to keep hidden, and Finn Gallager, the middle brother and doctor sidelined by injury and anxious to be healed and heading back to the Congo as soon as possible.
The writing style is smooth and witty. The characters are intriguing, quirky, and lovable. And the plot is a delightful mix of sentimental moments, budding romance, matchmaking drama, emotion, friendship, family, community, and a touch of mystery.
Overall, Primrose Lane is another quick, charming, tenderhearted tale by Mason that’s an easy, entertaining, satisfying read.

Book three in Debbie Mason's Harmony Harbor series. Yet another fantastic emotional journey for two people clueless to the fact that they are perfect for each other. Olivia Davenport has left her old life behind, or at least tried. She is now living at Greystone Manor and is the events planner under the name Dana Templeton, her past life one is one she left in pain and didn't want to return to it no matter what until forces beyond her control bring her old life to her. Finn Gallagher is just home to recuperate after being shot while in Africa working with Doctors Without Borders, as a doctor Finn knows an addict when he sees one and he immediately becomes suspicious of Dana. She's obviously hiding from something and he won't stop until he finds out what.
Ever since Olivia buried her son and then her husband she has had problems sleeping and problems with anxiety, she took her prescriptions maybe a little more that recommended but Finn flat out telling her she was abusing it in front of an audience it embarrassed her. It isn't until Finn finds out who she is and what she went through that he realizes just how broken she thinks she is and he feels the need to fix it for her.
Olivia son was dying of cancer and everyone was making her feel guilty for trying everything to cure him. Olivia and her husband were separated, her husband was a doctor working in Africa had an affair and fathered another child shortly after their son died he on his way back to the states and his plane crashed. He died before Olivia could finalize the divorce. Olivia has been hiding from her past life hoping she could get past the pain and move on she thought she was finally doing it when her husband's lawyer calls her and informed her that she has gained custody of her husband's other child, and girl named George; her mother went missing and is presumed dead. After a near breakdown she admits everything to Finn who quickly jumps in to help out. Olivia doesn't want George but takes her in none the less, they drive each other crazy it seems that George listens to everyone but her it's only after they bond over the death of Olivia's son that they find some common ground and finally start to get along.
Finding peace with George isn't the only thing wreaking havoc in Olivia's life right now, after her husband's parents find out about George and know they can hurt Olivia with it they threaten to take George way from her. And there is still someone out to ruin Graystone Manor and this time Olivia gets caught in the crossfire. The romance between Finn and Olivia was a sweet one, he was a bit of an ass at the beginning but soon jumped in to help out. Understanding Olivia was just the start and once he realized he loved her all he had to do was convince her that nothing could come between them.
Overall, it was a eventful book so much happens it makes you laugh and cry and with a touch of suspense at the end this book really has it all, complete with a mischievous ghost and her cat.
Oh boy, I really struggled with this one. Not in a bad way, okay, sometimes in a bad way. But if you follow me you know I like that about the books I read. Life isn't all sunny days. We make mistakes, sometimes over and over again.
Which for me was the case with Finn Gallagher. Yes, at times he really only had Olivia's best interests at heart. But more often then not I found him to be a little high and mighty with a bash of, I can fix your life better then you can complex.
Now this didn't mean I didn't like him, because often in the book I did. But I will say he's my least favorite hero. At times...I felt no warmth from him. Shocking I know, I'm usually always for the hero and against the heroine.
Nope, not this time.
Of course the same things I didn't like about him are also the things that made this a very interesting story. You couldn't help wanting to know what was going to happen next.
I really enjoyed Olivia. She was just so...sad! You couldn't help feeling sorry for her and want to comfort her. At times I wondered how those around her didn't notice she was falling apart. I wanted to yell at them to LOOK AT HER!
Again, all of it made for a good book.
Not only do you learn about about Finn and Olivia, you get to solve a little more about what's going in the manor. Tons of humorous parts with the brothers and the little girls. You won't be able to read it with a straight face. And lots of grandma issues too. All I've mentioned makes for a great, heartwarming story that will have you crying one minute, and spiting out your drink with laughter then next.
Debbie Mason is one of those authors who I constantly question why I keep reading her books. I end up angry at her heroes for about 60% of each book. However, her writing pulls me in and I inevitably fall in love with the hero anyways. It's that response that keeps me coming back. Stories that invoke that type of angry passion are the best!!
My heart broke for Olivia and all that she had been through in her life and the way a lot of the people around her treated her, particularly the men. The hits don't stop coming even after she's tried to outrun her past. I seriously wanted to strangle, her ex-husband, his best friend and Finn for their judgmental ways and the pressure and expectations they put on her. I can't even start talking about it without getting upset.
Finn was NOT likeable for a great chunk of this book. His assumptions about Olivia and the way he was convinced her to take on certain responsibilities, only to turn around and determine that she wasn't fit for those responsibilities was infuriating. Somehow I still managed to end up liking him and seeing that he did have a sweeter, more empathetic side to him but his stubbornness and self-righteousness was off-putting for sure.
I love the family dynamic of this series and the supernatural aspect (don't worry, it's not over the top) adds an extra angle to the story. This time we got a good glimpse at Aiden and what we can probably expect for his story. I can already tell that I'm going to dislike him and love him, but what's new?
*I received an ARC from NetGalley for voluntary review
New gal comes to town with a mysterious past. She is a special events planner. Eventually she is discovered as to what had her so scared all the time. She had some very sad events happen and worried it will only get worse. When the attorney from the past bring her a new challenge to actually raise her former spouses child she is really upset...He was unfaithful, ended up passing away + he requested this in his will. Many more mysteries are involved and romance could very well be around the corner if she allows it with someone that seems to understand her dilemma.
Wow I simply fell in love with Olivia. Life has been hard on her lately so hiding out in Harmony Harbor is working out great until everything catches up with her. Luckily Finn Gallagher is there to help her through. Recommended read.
There's just something so addicting about Debbie Mason's books, they are nearly impossible to put down and for some strange reason I always start reading right before bed and the I end up staying up until I finish them.
So we are back in Harmony Harbor and this time we get to know Dana or Olivia a lot better, from the moment we meet Olivia at the beginning of the series we know she is hiding something or hiding from someone and in Primrose Lane we finally find out what happened to her in the past and let me tell you she has had heartbreak after heartbreak and now that part is threatening her present so is no wonder she is stresses and maybe overmadicating a little bit and that's when Finn appears, he is a DWB doctor at home in Harmony recuperating after being hurt in the line of duty, he right away picks up something in Olivia that makes him take an interest in her.
The interactions between these two were both cute and infuriating at times, I mean I get Finn was trying to help Olivia but Oh Lordy he really messes up a few times and Olivia not opening up to the people that care for her was also infuriating, but throughout the book we see them connect on deeper levels, to recognize the other for what they are and what they mean to each other in the end, I liked that they helped each other a lot and that neither was blind to the others shortcomings instead they talked and supported one another.
The book is full of wonderful lovely moments but also the intrigue is strong, and more mysteries start to appear, Harmony Harbor is a place where it seem es everyone has a secret past and I can't wait to find out more.
Debbie Mason’s Primrose Lane is a heartfelt second chance story which features Finn Gallagher and Olivia Davenport. The third novel in the series takes place at Greystone Manor, a hotel located in the coastal community of Harmony Harbor, Massachusetts. The small town setting, the unique characters and the witty and honest dialogue appealed to me and I read the novel in one afternoon. Debbie Mason provided a few subtle clues about Greystone Manor’s event planner Dana Templeton in the first two Harmony Harbor novels. It seems that Dana is running from something or somebody. This interested me and I couldn’t wait to read her story. In chapter one, it’s revealed that Dana is really Boston socialite Olivia Davenport. Overwhelmed with grief, from the deaths of her son and husband, Olivia has become addicted to painkillers. Despite her substance abuse problem, Olivia is able to function as the manor’s event planner until Dr. Finn Gallagher returns home and uncovers her secret. At first, I didn’t understand Finn’s harsh attitude towards Olivia. The conversations between the couple were honest, very direct and emotional. Finn was tough with Olivia, he made her own and deal with her feelings. I loved the scene when Finn drives Olivia to Greystone Manor after she almost bought drugs from an undercover policeman. Olivia opens up to Finn about being named guardian of her late husband’s six year old daughter. His compassionate response to Olivia indicated to me that he was starting to care for Olivia.
I became invested in Finn and Olivia’s story, cried as Olivia bravely dealt with her issues, laughed at Simon, Jasper and Colleen’s antics and grew to love Olivia’s step daughter, George. Finn and Olivia learned to trust and forgive each other as they faced several obstacles during the story. Love how the author wove elements from the first two novels into Primrose Lane. Colleen’s ghost, the missing book of secrets and the knowledge that someone is undermining the Gallagher family’s interest in Greystone Manor adds an element of mystery to the series and connects the storylines. The well -paced novel’s conclusion was suspenseful and reminded me that intrigue and secrets are an important part of the small town community of Harmony Harbor. If you enjoy reading books by Emily March, Robyn Carr and Donna Alward---you will adore Primrose Lane!
And we finally get to crack the code that is Dana/Olivia. Obvious that she is hiding something and the little fractures that don’t quite reveal the story finally build to breaking point. Fortunately for her, Finn is in town recovering from injuries he received at a posting with Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) and he’s more than a bit interested in this stranger his family has trusted. His attitude, while harsh, was understandable: he’s worked with all sorts of people all around the world, and seen injuries and attacks from the worst of the worst. In fact, he can’t return to work and away from Harmony Harbor because of a rebel attack. He’s angry and frustrated and wants out of the town who knows him too well….yesterday.
But there’s something about Dana – and he’s determined to discover what it is. And slowly, Mason allows us to see Finn’s actual good side when the walls around Dana start to crack and her story comes out. Changing her name (she’s really Olivia), her living situation (she’s really a member of the Boston Elite) and trying to overcome the latest kick in the teeth that life handed her (losing her child to cancer), she’s just not willing to open up and allow someone close enough to her to deal another blow.
Character driven, Mason allows the stories of Olivia and Finn to work their magic on us and each other. Slowly we see the true caring nature that Finn hides behind sarcasm and some really judgmental statements: his brusque no-nonsense pacing so necessary in his work overseas as patients are many and doctors few are hard habits to break – but he does take the time to listen and hear, not just diagnose and prescribe. Olivia is so strong, with a life that has been full of tragedies, she’s managed to move forward, remain kind and caring (within limits) and find friends that even she doesn’t always realize are there for her. Sweet and gentle, the story draws you in and packs several moments that don’t feel terrifically ‘romantic’ but work beautifully for the plot and this pair. Several wonderful moments bring characters from earlier stories into the mix, and while it builds the sense of community, it also helps to work as a series of examples for the newly discovered couple. While there are no real new grounds broken here, the story is so engaging and the characters so real, you won’t care.
I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Olivia has had a rather interesting life. Synopsis: Son died of cancer, headed for a divorce because of issues that most people face during this time, before divorce is final her husband dies in plane crash. As if that wasn’t enough, her lawyer brings her a girl named George, who happens to be her deceased husband’s daughter.
Ms. Mason gives us an emotionally charged story. One minute I couldn’t help but laugh the next I was grabbing my tissue. I enjoyed how she slowed down the romance between Olivia and the new town doctor Finn. Finn was suspicious of Olivia thinking that she may be abusing drugs. Finn slowly awoke, realized his mistakes with the accusations with Olivia and worked on giving her something to believe in again.
The way Ms. Mason added the heartache into Olivia life just ripped out my heart at times. It was a lot to take in and give one person to deal with. But she made Olivia and fierce so she was able to deal with all of the struggles thrown at her. The struggles with George are a lot like what a step parent has to go through… Very realistic. Life with George wasn’t easy but over time they bonded over family Olivia son that died of cancer. With family it takes common ground sometimes to get past things.
I envisioned that sadness that Olivia carried with her and I wanted to give her a hug and tell her it was going to be ok. A lot of her issues hit home which made her that much more endearing for me.
Ms. Mason showed that life can be and is usually full of mistakes but with the sunshine we find laughter and through those stormy days we cry but in the end we heal and become survivors. I liked the way Ms. Mason had a way of connecting me, the reader, pulling me into the story and making me feel. I felt sympathy, compassion and hope. It is hard sometimes to convey that to the reader. It was strong.
Primrose Lane (Harmony Harbor #3) by Debbie Mason • Letting Go Another AWESOME Harmony Harbor HEA love story! Debbie has an amazing way with bringing out the best in all her characters. Although each of the books within this series could be read as standalone story, reading them all together and in order gives you additional background info and the full story of Greystone. In each book you not only learn about the main characters, but we still learn more about the supporting characters from the other stories. I cannot wait for more from not only this series, but anything from Debbie Mason. Olivia and Finn's story is full of emotional hurt that takes more than time to heal. To see what it takes and how the best laid plan does or doesn't work you'll have to read Primrose Lane. I definitely recommend taking the time to read not only this story, but the entire series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book via Tasty Book Tours through NetGalley for an honest blog tour review. Favorite Passages ~ • “Holy fig newton? Now that’s one I haven’t heard before.... • You Can Never Have Too Much Happy.
Thank you Forever Publishing for sending me a copy of PRIMROSE LANE. I really enjoyed this romance between Olivia and Finn. The story was so much more than their love story- I have been craving women’s stories and this one hit the spot. In the beginning I thought we got really well representation of a woman who wants a do-over but with one foot still in the past she’s trying to cope with her ghosts the best way she knows how. Then BLAST FROM THE PAST, the result of Her late husbands marriage infidelity is now Brought into her life to raise. Could you do it? Raise the love child of your husband and another woman? This absolutely happens and I enjoyed that aspect to Olivia’s journey.
This was my first book by author Debbie Mason, but it won't be my last! It was an overall good read that leaves the reader feeling happy and satisfied with the ending. It is book 3 in the series, but I started here and I was just fine. It gave me some of the back story on the previous books, and that was enough to give me a smooth read.
The characters were fun, the banter was natural and it left the reader feeling like happier. I loved the author's writing style and the plot. This was a good read, and I will be reading more by this author in the future.
Add this book and author to your TBR list and move it to the top - it is a fun read!
This one just didn't have the wit and movement of the earlier books. It had a slow start and then when "George" appeared on scene it went downhill. The ending was good though and, as usual, Colleen, Jasper and especially Simon made for a decent read.
I was not a fan of the ending. Thought it was a little too far fetched. The final outcome could have been the same with a little less dramatic sequence of events at the end.
I've read/listened to all the books in this series so was looking forward to reading Dana's story in this installment.
Dana/Olivia is the event planner at Greystone Manor and in previous books has been a very elegant, efficient, reserved sort of person, having everything under control in her life. But in this book she was a walking disaster, taking sleeping pills because she couldn't sleep and sort of getting hooked on them/forgetting how many she'd taken, drinking too much and making a bit of a fool of herself really, absolutely nothing like she had been in previous books which didn't sit well with me initially as it just wasn't like her character.
Then her bigamist ex-husband who has died (and his wife has gone missing) leaves details that in the event of their death his young daughter (born when he was still married to Olivia) is left in Olivia's care, when she'd lost her own son a couple of years ago too! What sort of an idiot would do that, especially when the child is the spitting image of the son she lost?! So that really irritated me! Supposedly the ex-husband, who spent most of his time overseas helping others, felt that Olivia was too demanding while their son was ill, having the temerity to want him to be there when he had a bad turn, which made him turn to another more willing woman and marry her!!!!! wasn't keen on the romantic interest, Finn, either. He was very patronising of Olivia and always seemed to see the worst in her. Maybe this would have changed as the book went on, but I was struggling with it too much and so unfortunately didn't wait to find out and gave up on this one.
I've really enjoyed the rest of this series, so hope this is a blip. Although saying that, this also happened to me with the Christmas, Colorado series, which I really enjoyed until one book (specifically one character) annoyed me so much I stopped reading that series too - seems to be a recurring theme with me and Debbie Mason books! I either absolutely love them, or get so irritated with particular characters I have to DNF them! I'm not giving up on this series though, fingers crossed the next one, Sugarplum Way, is back to the usual 5 star read the rest of this series has been.
That's an easy question to answer when you read a romance by Debbie Mason! She delivers another great entry to the Harmony Harbor series. In PRIMROSE LANE her talented hand paints a portrait of a couple who shouldn't work, but somehow do-Dr. Finn Gallagher and the mysterious event planner Dana. Finn is in Harmony Bay to recuperate from injuries he received overseas with DOB. He resents being back and signs on to take patients in town. Dana has come through for his family many times and it turns out that she is really Olivia Davenport, a wealthy socialite. In the beginning of the book, you wonder what bug was up Finn's butt with the way he first treated Olivia. He was so judgmental that you want to smack him upside the head. When he realizes that she is truly hurting he begins to discover what is underneath the surface from a woman who begins to invade his mind. Then he tries to rescue her, but manages to mess that up...a lot! But that gives you a glimpse of the real man and his good heart hiding behind his surly facade. At times the story is like a good slap-stick comedy and had me laughing out loud. And other times it had me nearly in tears as Dana/Olivia's backstory comes to life. She has suffered so much loss, but she came to town to start a new life. She was so generous and efficient that nobody looked beneath the mask she had in place. How could you not feel her anguish when another gigantic challenge came to town in the form of a little girl named George? As usual, you get to enjoy the things that make Harmony Harbor an enjoyable place to visit. Mason's town is a roller coaster of humor, suspense, family, and romance. PRIMROSE LANE is an emotional and thoughtful small-town romance written with a lot of heart. I love the feuding grandmothers, the wonderful cast of characters, and the ghostly thread woven through each story. It was a rocky road, but Finn and Olivia's romantic HEA was worth the bumps. No one writes heartfelt small town romance like Debbie Mason and I always count the days until the next book!
Foe the most part the romance in the book was cute and typical. However, it took me a long time to get into the book. I almost quit reading it. It could've went without the ghost and the villein in the story. Sometimes it seemed like too much was going on.

Review:
Olivia Davenport is running away from her painful past. She has lost her son and her husband and she has had enough heartache to last a lifetime. She settles at Greystone Manor, and under a new identity, she becomes an event planner for the estate. It is the anniversary of her son’s death, and to be able to cope better, she has been taking more of her prescription drugs than is wise.
Finn Gallagher is staying at his family estate, recuperating from an injury he received in Africa, working for Doctors Without Borders. He just wants to get better and go back to his job. He becomes concerned when he feels that Olivia is a drug addict and confronts her about it. He does not want his family affected by her behavior. The more time he spends with Olivia, he realizes that she is not who she says she is and he is determined to find out the truth about her. When he eventually finds out her true story, he is much more understanding and truly wants to help her.
To make matters worse for Olivia, her husband had kept a secret from her before he died. Although they were going to get divorced that never happened, because he died first. When Olivia finds out the secret that her husband kept from her, she is devastated. She does not know what to do, but she does know that her husband’s secret will change her life forever. Finn wants to help her and is willing to do pretty much anything to make her life better. But some things just cannot be made better.
The characters are well developed and well rounded. You cannot help but like Olivia, she has had so much heartache in her life but she is not bitter. She tries her best to maintain a positive attitude and is she tries to help and please everyone. She is sweet and caring and extremely sad. Finn is not so easy to like right away. He is suspicious and moody and conceited at times. He does not seem to care if he hurts his family, he wants to do what he feels is right, even if it means leaving his family. But as the book went on, he changed and became much more likable. I also enjoyed getting to spend time with the other members of Greystone Manor and watching them interact with each other. They were all people that I would like to spend time with. And there is a paranormal (ghostly) aspect in this book, and I loved it.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted women’s contemporary. This book has everything I enjoy when reading a book: great characters, humor, suspense, heartwarming moments and a ghost. You could not ask for more than that.
Dr. Finn Gallagher is itching to return to his work with Doctors without Borders, but the injury he suffered is taking longer to heal than he thought it would. So, for now, he's working as a doctor in Harmony Harbor determined to help Olivia Davenport. Except, it seems she doesn't want his help. Luckily though, he has a group of matchmakers on his side. Can they help him win her over, or will her painful past continue to make her keep her distance?
Returning to Harmony Harbor is always fun and entertaining, because the Gallaghers are a family bonded by heartbreak and now years later finding their way to healing and well-deserved happy ever afters. Right from the beginning, this story was spellbinding, fast-paced and had me sympathizing with the heroine because of what she's going through. The anniversary of losing a child isn't easy and having what her husband did on top of that would send any woman running. Will Olivia ever be able to heal from the pain of her past?
The dialogue was well-written, compelling and had me hooked due to the matchmaking efforts of the secondary characters; the tight bond the Gallagher family have that makes for good teasing; and the trouble Georgina or as she likes to be called 'George', the young girl the heroine finds herself guardian of gets into. Will George finally realize how good her life can be with Olivia? Will George be the one to help Olivia heal from her past? Moreover, the heroine faces some tough challenges throughout this story such as the hero and the power he wields as a doctor that could lead to her doing something stupid; and the opposition she faces when it comes to Georgina from those that wish to take care of her. However, I liked how Finn was determined to help her, especially once he realized how much she could help him too.
While the hero, he's been through so much and I could understand why getting back to his work was important to him. It helps him not to think about the past and all that his family have lost. However, being home in Harmony Harbor has made him realize how much he misses his family, which leads to big decisions needing to be made. What will he decide when it comes to his career and relationships? Furthermore, I liked the bond the hero shared with George. Seriously, the young girl responds well to all the Gallagher men and it's no wonder, because Finn and his brothers are quite charming. However, what I liked most about the hero is how he helped the heroine with the way she was coping with her loss. There was plenty of understanding but also some tough love. No way could she continue the way she was.
Overall, Ms. Mason has penned another really enjoyable read for this series where the chemistry was off-the-charts, the romance was wonderful in showing how much these two need each other to heal from their pasts, and where the ending had me concerned for one of the main characters safety, but left me smiling due to the news this couple received concerning both George and a surprise that the heroine never thought she'd ever experience again. I would recommend Primrose Lane by Debbie Mason, if you enjoy contemporary romance with a tiny dose of suspense, the fake relationship trope, the enemy to lovers trope, small town romances; or books by authors Emily March, Raeanne Thayne, Brenda Novak and Susan Mallery.
Primrose Lane is a fresh and heartfelt story of new beginnings, set in a picturesque domain owned for generations by the Gallagher family. Finn Gallagher has served with Doctors Without Borders in Congo, but has been forced to return home with a bad leg injury. Although he is happy to be back home, he is distressed by his physical limitations. His family is supportive, but they all have a hidden agenda. They are determined to find him a wife to keep him from returning to Congo. Despite his best efforts, he can’t escape his family meddling and attempts at matchmaking. They are trying to set him up with Olivia Davenport, the new event planner for Greystone Manor.
Their relationship starts on rocky grounds. False perceptions give rise to misunderstandings between them. Finn sees Olivia as a spoiled princess and drama queen, Oliva resents Finn’s judgmental attitude and his critical comments.
Olivia has suffered a lot, she has lost her young son to leukemia and her husband in a plane crash. This character is utterly vulnerable and is running from her memories. She never intended to stay in Harmony Harbor, but the family Gallagher made her feel part of their close-knit group. And yet she buries her grief by turning to prescription drugs and alcohol.
Olivia’s distress brings out Finn’s protective streak. He is worried about her and his concern is genuine. As they spend more and more time together, under the approving gaze of the whole family, including the matchmaking “spirit” of the manor, they start developing feelings for one another that go beyond friendship. They soon find themselves flirting with one another. These two endearing characters definitely deserved a new start.
Primrose Lane hit all my marks for a great read. It was so easy to get lost in Olivia and Finn’s story. It was sweet, uplifting and beautiful, with an irresistible whimsical touch. This story will make you laugh and has just the right amount of angst and drama. I loved every second of this gem of a story! It is obvious that Debbie Mason writes from the heart, her writing is touching and emotion-inducing, her storytelling is creative and inspired. I seriously can’t wait to see what she has in store for her readers. An advanced copy of this book was provided to me by the publisher, via NetGalley.
Dana and Finn give us a fun ride full of misunderstandings and cuteness. The little girl who comes into Dana’s life really helps her heal and see that she is worth more than she thinks.
When Dana and Finn first meet they do not have nice thoughts of each other. Both with preconceived notions of the other. For Finn it is the rich girl mentality he has from his last girlfriend and for Dana it is the doctor and him thinking he is better than others she gets from her husband. A husband who was weak and showed her a lack of understanding, kindness and respect. A husband who gives her surprises even after gone. And it is with the help of Finn and his depth of understanding, compassion and support that Dana is able to deal with all that she has happen to her.
For Finn Dana is a disaster waiting to happen. She keeps finding ways to hurt him for they do bumble around alot. Through this though Finn does see a caring and compassionate woman. He sees someone who is dealing with alot and not letting anyone in. The doctor in him wants to help and does. It is this compassion that Dana reaches out to and begins to let him in. Finn does the same and they help one another.
For Finn Dana helps him to heal even when he doesn’t realize it. She gives him a purpose and helps with the single ladies in town. When Dana is in trouble Finn is there and even goes beyond the norm. It is this that helps to heat up our pages. These two truly have chemistry but fear acting on it. As they explore themselves and each other we see two people who are in need of love and support. Who are lonely but letting the past bear weight on them that they cannot handle alone but together are able to do anything. They respect and find each other to be equals. I love the adventures with GG and Simon. They crack me up with the little girl who finds them to be bad juju. It is GG though that helps Dana and Finn in the end and gets Finn to truly see that all he needs and wants is in Harmony harbor.
These two are perfect for each other. They keep one another on their toes. Are both compassionate and kind. Wanting to help others and be there for their family. they have hearts of gold and help each other heal while giving us some sweet tender moments, fun moments and passionate ones as well. A wonderful addition to the series now I am excited for Aiden to find love in Harmony harbor.
