This is the last novel in the Anarchy series. The Warlord has had a long and eventful life but he is growing old. Fate and King Henry determine that he will not go quietly watching the sun set from his castle. He is sent to cement the marriage between the King’s half sister and a prince of the Welsh. It is while he is there that he uncovers a plot which threatens not only his life but the very crown which Henry wears on his head. With his grandson, Samuel, at his side the Warlord fights one last war to save the land he loves, England.
I was born in 1950 in Lancashire and attended a boy’s grammar school. After qualifying as an English and Drama teacher in 1972, I worked in the North East of England for the next 35 years. During that time I did write, mainly plays, pantos and musicals for the students at the three schools in which I worked.
When I stopped teaching I set up my own consultancy firm and worked as an adviser in schools and colleges in the North East of England. The new Conservative Government ended that avenue of work and in 2010 I found that I had time on my hands; having started work at the age of 15 I found the lack of work not to my liking and used the time to research the Roman invasion of Britain and begin to create a novel. The result was The Sword of Cartimandua.
My decision to begin writing was one of the best I have ever taken.
The conclusion of a major character and storyline. The problems with poor editing and sloppy writing are not as bad as the previous book. There are still many to be found. The reduction of star is for these reasons.
The characters come to life and you become invested in their story
It would be nice to have continued the series with the exploiters of the son and grandson. All of this series was very well done. Great reads! I recommend them all!
An excellent and exciting end to the story of Alfraed of Stockton, Warlord of the North, and Earl Marshall of England. I am sad that the saga of the Warlord is over, but I look forward to reading the Border Knight Series!
Best book in the series! This was a great way to say goodbye to the "WarLord". Now I need to start the Border Knight series to see what happens to Sir Thomas. Can't wait.
