I'm a wife, mother, and author! Writing has always been a passion for me, and publishing my first series is a dream come true. I drink too much caffeine, never sleep, and my imagination is always churning out ideas. Eva and her men have been in my head for awhile, and I'm so glad to finally take you with me on this journey!
Disclaimer: reviews are only for Strange Angels, by May Dawson, and Date with a Werewolf, by K.T. Strange.
So I'm a huge fan of both these authors' books, and these books did not disappoint! Strange's one IS ABOUT ELI. Enough said. Dawson's is an extension of the Lilith and Her Harem series and actually is what made me go and read those books. Both are funny, sexy and well-written.
What is this delectable shenanigans? This is a surprise teaser of a new series from the mind of the devious Ms. Burkhart. It is part of a larger anthology and it promises to be another explosively erotic series. Instead of vampires, this time readers are treated to demons and sorcerers.
I've read Ms. Burkhart from the very beginning. Her style is maturing and it shows in her erotic writings. The sexual tension leaping off the pages will whip a reader into a horny frenzy. I love it. The characters are riveting and the worlds she creates are unique yet familiar. Familiar in that it is easily relatable and understandable and with her unique flavor. Fantastic! I can't wait to read more of Crimson Black. Recommended to erotic readers who enjoy poly relationships.
What Goes Bump in the night, is a fantastic collection of 16 Halloween reverse harem stories. It’s great way to read some spin offs for some of your favourite characters and be introduced to new authors/characters.
************************** Review for Samhain Goddess by Skye MacKinnon: With the Veil thin, ghost are able to reenter the the world of the living during Samhain and take on a visible and for some a physical shape. First with a sighting by Dewi, and not longer after Wyn and her Gaurdians see a ghost themselves. Then reports of ghosts are appearing all of the realm. Samhain Goddess is a short spin-off story, with Wyn and her Guardians. Just because it’s a short story, doesn’t mean that Wyn won’t get to spend some alone time with her men in the bedroom. I also feel like Wyn had a little bit of a closure moment at the end. I loved this story, and I highly recommend reading this and the full Daughter of Winter series.
Delightfully devious, this short story makes the female in me grin. Why? Because the story is essentially about four men who use magic to create an assasin...and get a smart female demon that wraps them all around her fingers. One of the men even recognizes how he's probably being played but his emotions get the best of him. Why do I love this so kuch? Why does it make me grin wildly with glee? Because Burkhardt essentially wrote a revenge take dedicated to all the women out there that are tired of being told what to do, how to do it, what to do with their bodies, oh, and my favorite...being called too emotional! This demon has the upper hand from minute one. This was a absolute delight to read, and the fact that there's a vague ending only made it better. I can imagine the many ways she runs the show!
Some contain sexual content. This collection of stories has Halloween as a theme in a few. Some of these stories are little pieces of a bigger series. As with any anthology, there will always be the one or two that like me, you just do NOT like. Even though these shortened stories, this book is quite lengthy. The very first story, was my favorite. Even though it says Halloween, anyone who reads PNR, would probably like this at any time of year.
What a great short read from Joely! This is part of What Goes Bump in the Night Halloween anthology. So its in there with some other awesome authors as well. So don't be disappointed that its short. But its got four wizards and they decide to conjure an assassin....and they get a woman. Must read!
Merged review:
I love Wyn and her guardians in this boxset. Ghosts of the past and loved ones running around..and interrupting sexy time lol but even a teary reunion. Loved it! As well as Joely's Conjured Shadows! Love this anthology!
I have not read any of the books in this series which I am now going to have to rectify. Drawn on from page one I absolutely loved this story, I could easily follow it through without having read any of the others. It was exciting and well written, I love the feelings between Eva and her guys, I love the Halloween style short story and am a little in love, highly recommend this story
Celestia’s trick or treat mayhem by Yumoyori Wilson
It is a great Halloween story starring Celestia and all her guys, I love the series and this is a beautifully written story set at Halloween, of course, nothing ever runs smoothly for the gang but this trial is much more fun than what they usually face, I loved this story and highly recommend
Embers of Samhain by CJ Strange
This prequel intrigued me although I must admit I am not entirely sure what was going on. Penny is captured during a mission by someone who says he was saving her. I am rather intrigued and plan to read the series

This story is awesome, romantic and steamy and now I need to read the rest of the series! A date between Darcy and Eli on Halloween a beautiful little story within what appears to be a great series and I cannot wait to dive in!
The Hunters Moon by Elle Cross
Corbin is a homicide detective and a very fiesty heroine, strong and take charge. There is some bad juju going on and Corbin has no idea what is going on. Exciting throughout it is a very intriguing story and I will be reading more
Tricked by Mila Young
I think this is based on the elves and the shoemaker, Rains life changes on her 18th birthday and she learns a few truths about herself. I really enjoyed this story, sweet and steamy with excitement and magic and I look forward to reading more
Soul Echo by Harper Wylde
Ooh exciting, I cannot wait for the full book to come out next year. Liss is trying to survive the best she can, but a ghost changes her life and helps her discover more about herself. The story drew me in straightaway and I am excited to read more
Four Lilac Spells by Bea Paige
Set before Ferns third book this is Lissa and Nostras story. It is romantic and sweet, showing Lissas love For her stubborn mate. It is a great to be able to read their story and I absolutely loved it
Strange Angel’s by May Dawson
Halloween ends up with a mini mission for Ellis and her guys, but as missions go it’s not so bad. It’s nice to catch up with Ellis Ryker Nim and Jake, a great novella Halloween story
Forbidden Hex by T.J. Spade and Montana Ash
I have read the first book in the series and loved it, it was great to read about Maeve and the guys in a Halloween story, all I can say is poor Bish! With steamy romantic moments, humour and excitement this is a great read, I totally love these guys
Conjured Shadows by Joely Sue Burkhart
I am hoping this is the start of a new series, when the men conjure a demon they get the unexpected and nothing goes to plan. Well written it captured my interest and I need to read more
This is a fabulous anthology and I have enjoyed every story in it, even those relating to series already out you can still read each as a stand-alone and for those not read it’s a good try before you buy, a group of very talented writers this is great value for money and I highly recommend this anthology
1. Frightful Nights: C.R. Jane: Fun Halloween novella. I love Eva and her men! I loved reading about them having some fun. That epilogue was epic too. I can't wait to read more about Eva and her guys! 2. Trick or Treat Mayhem: Yumoyori Wilson: This hilarious and steamy, oh so steamy novella features Celestia and her men and the shenanigans of Halloween night. You get some glimpses of Arielle and her guys in all their glory also. Oh I call dibs on Orion and Odion, I licked them they are mine LOL! Fantastic novella from Yumo and Arielle's costume is awesome hahahaha! 3. Embers of Samhain: C.J. Strange: Great sneak peek into a prequel for Blaze of Chaos. Blaze of Chaos is on my TBR list, but I will now be moving it up the list to read sooner. I can't wait to read more about Penelope and her team. 4. Hyde with Me: Stacy Jones & K.B. Everly: Spectacular short story take on Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde or should I say Dr. Jekyll and Ms. Hyde. I can't wait to read more of this story. Its a great start to what I'm sure is going to be a fabulous book. 5. Losing Alyana: Beth Hendrix: I really need to read Hoodwinked, with that being said. This is a great story and you don't have to read the other book in the series to understand this one which I think is fabulous. Entertaining Halloween story to say the least. 6. Samhain Goddess: Skye MacKinnon: I have moved so many books up my TBR list because of all the amazing Halloween anthologies. I can't wait to read the Daughter of Winter series. This sin-off is great! Fantastic detail in this short story about Wyn and her guardians and Samhain. Cute ghost story, oh and steamy too! 7. Date with a Werewolf: K.T. Strange: I'm going to start with I love Dracy and the guys of Phoenixcry, now with that being said....I love this story( Eli is definitely my favorite, well him and Cash). I thoroughly enjoyed this date with Eli and Darcy, it was sweet in the beginning and then steamy then sweet at the end. So good!! 8. The Hunter's Moon: Elle Cross: Great spin-off novella! But you don't have to read Grit to thoroughly enjoy Corbin's Halloween story! Maybe we will get to see more of Corbin's story at a later date. She has intrigued me since reading Grit and Grit 2! 9. Tricked: Mila Young: Awesome start to the Elves and the Shoemaker fairytale. You don't hear or read this particular fairytale very often, let alone a retelling of it. The start of the retelling with an RH flair even better. I can't wait to read more about Rain and her elves. 10. Soul Echo: Harper Wylde: Oh wow! The first 5 chapters in this book are phenomenal! I absolutely can not wait to read the whole book in February! Felicity or Liss and other sups being hunted, just wow awesome story so far, can't wait to read more. 11. Four Lilac Spells: Bea Paige: It was an amazing learning more about Nostra and Lissa. Especially after reading Fern's Flight. I really liked reading what happened between other characters other then the daughters of the clans. I would love to read more of their story, like when they first met or their story throughout all the Daughters of Hex series. Fantastic edition to this anthology! 12. Strange Angels: May Dawson: I love Ellis and her guys and it was awesome to read more about them. Great, steamy Halloween adventure! I absolutely love the Lilith and her Harem series, its on my reread list along with some of the other authors throughout this anthology! 13. Forbidden Hex: T.J. Spade & Montana Ash: Fantastic novella and you don't need to read Forbidden Hybrid to understand it. Although now I really want to find time to read it! Fun, steamy, well written collaboration of 2 fabulous authors! 14. Conjured Shadows: Joely Sue Burkhart: Spectacular wizard, demon short story and as always the lovely RH twist. This story would be even better if it was ( hopefully this happens later) extended or even made into a series. That would be frickin fantastic!
I absolutely love this anthology. It has all of my favorite authors, with fun, sexy, steamy new novellas all in one place. Bloody fantastic and amazingly written group of books!
Halloween done the Reverse Harem way; scary, funny, and so, so sexy! This Anthology contains 16 stories by some of the best RH writers on the market. It's full of characters you definitely want to investigate in the dark and absolutely wouldn't say no to biting you. Time to go trick or treating with angels, demons, witches, werewolves, elves, vampires, and maybe even a unicorn! Stories by C.R. Jane, Yumoyori Wilson, K.T. Strange, Harper Wylde, Mila Young, Mary Martel, Joely Sue Burkhart, Skye Mackinnon, Elle Cross, Montana Ash, C. Strange, K.B. Everly, Stacy Jones, Beth Hendrix, Bea Paige, May Dawson, and T.J. Spade. I will be reviewing this story by story, so please be patient. I will get to them all, promise!
Frightful Beginnings by C.R Jane, 5-star rating. Eva has never had a Halloween. The only time she tried to celebrate like the other children it didn't turn out well. This year will be different. Lexi and her men, Beckham, Mason, and Damon plan to make it her new favorite holiday. A movie premiere, the after-party, and a haunted house surrounded by three gorgeous, adoring men and a bestie should do the trick. Without a doubt the sexiest Halloween imaginable even with Eric's stalking. Bet he wishes he stayed home by the end (or maybe not). I love Eva and love that she gets spoiled by her loves and Lexi after everything she's been through. The pampering, dancing, the singing, and the kissing. Swoon-worthy. And Lexy at the premiere and club was hysterical. She's a great addition to the group. This is the perfect treat for everyone who loves this series.
Celestia's Trick or Treat Mayhem by Yumoyori Wilson, 5-star rating. DOO DOO DOO. It's a night for tricks and plenty of treats as Celestia and her men enjoy themselves at Aslan's Halloween Festival. When they go into the dark forest they become part of a game of five trials where only the fulfillment of their pleasurable desires can set them free. This is a lighthearted holiday romp full of silly and sexy times. It leaves you wanting a set of twins (or two sets) of your own!
Hyde With Me by K.B. Everly and Stacy Jones, 5-star rating. Jaquelyn (Lyn) Hyde, chemical pathologist student has already lost one mother. She can't lose the second one. So she is determined to do anything to find a cure for the disease slowly killing her aunt. When she is convinced she's found the correct formula, she uses the only test subject available to her, herself. Jacky is created. More interested in fighting and two blue-eyed twins, Jacky has no time for dull little Lyn's life, her classes or her sweet Southern crush. Somehow these two are going to have to learn about the other and learn to share! I am a huge fan of KB Everly. Her writing is original, sometimes dark, always sexy, and always entertaining. For this story, she is paired with Stacy Jones, another fresh voice. This twist on Jekyll and Hyde is a prequel providing the backstory on what is sure to a most unusual and captivating RH. Brilliant start!
Four Lilac Spells by Bea Paige, 4-star rating. This Sisters of Hex series novella is set during a period of time in Fern's Flight. You really need to have read Lissa has loved Nostra for what seems forever. He feels the same but in frustrating Nostra fashion, he refuses to Entwine with her for her safety. Even though without his magic, he is dying and this is his best chance. So Lissa is trying to save him, his way with her magic and specially crafted spells. This is an intense read covering a few vital hours in Lissa and Nostra's relationship. It highlights Lissa's strength, her love for Nostra, and her willingness to do whatever it takes to save him. Nostra is well-meaning but frustrating and foolish. He's the one who originally declared that the Sisters would beat the evil Queen because they had the one thing she could never have, love. Now he's refusing love and hurting himself and Lissa. In the end, however, he's no match for Lissa and her power. She will keep him alive; he's too important to the war and to her. Reading this also clears up the mystery of Lissa's state of undress during the battle!
Frightful Beginnings- I'm a fan of this series and was pleased to read this fun tidbit. I'm glad I read the author's note, though, because of the timeline discrepancy. I'll be interested to see how the epilogue pans out.
Celestia Halloween- The storyline of this was strange and haphazard. It wasn't my cup of tea, but the author has a decent following, so it's really only a personal preference.
Embers of Samhain- Well, that... was a bit of a mindfuck. Like many of the excerpts in this book, this snippet would be utterly useless without some knowledge of the books it belongs to. Luckily, this is a series I'm acquainted with. On that note, this was certainly a hook that makes you want to know more.
Hyde With Me- This had an interesting start and an interesting stop. Almost everyone has heard the story of Jekyll and Hyde, so there are certain elements that needed to stay consistent: the drinking of a formula by the scientist and the carnal existence of what comes after the drink. From Jekyll and Hyde to Jacqueline Hyde (Jacky and Lyn), this retelling has some spicy promise. Looking forward to how the storyline unfolds, as well as the steamy reverse harem scenes with both a com and sub being in the same body.
Losing Alyanna- I like that this story is from a succubus's perspective. I'm definitely down with the demon books. I appreciate that the main love interest is female and it makes me want to read the Demon Exchange series that has the harem Alyanna is part of. I'm also a not eager to find out what happens next.
Samhain Goddess- This was a sweet short story, with an out-of-left-field, but still hot, sexual tangent.
A Date with a Werewolf- I needed this steamy tidbit from one of my favorite series! The best thing about this is that having read the books makes this so much better, but it's not necessary to make the scene make sense.
The Hunter's Moon- What an opening. Gruesome. This was another intro... I was absorbed. The Remnant Gods books get me like that.
Tricked- Mila Young's book are like my junk food. There's always an explanation as to why things progress the way they do in the story, especially when it comes to accepting mates while human. I'll be honest, though; it's the sex scenes that draw me in. I will be looking forward to reading the rest of this retelling, as it's inly the beginning, and I really want to know why it was titled Tricked.
Soul Echo- This one should be fun; can't wait until the rest of the book comes out! It opened painfully (the FMC was in pain) and there are so many questions that need answering. Definitely a fan of Harper Wylde.
Lilac Spells- This short story was both tragic and beautiful. While it was obvious that reading the accompanying book(s) would fill things out, this was written in a way that it wasn't necessary. Everything translated into text to make this a true short story and not *just* an excerpt or teaser. That being said, it still makes me want to read more.
Strange Angels- This one had a lot of context missing. I'm not giving a bad review for that, because every book in here is either the start of something or the middle of something. There were some plot holes in this story, but those may have been filled in with the books this story belongs with. The sex was hot, though.
Forbidden Hex- That was hot. Though there were definitely points in this short story that made me wish I had read the book (something I'll remedy soon), it worked more as a hook than anything. I love me some mmf, so the mmmf was appreciated.
Conjured Shadows- I enjoyed the perspective of this excerpt, but what the hell, Joely Sue! I want more! That was barely a taste, even though it was oh so yummy. The "oops" definitely thickens (heh) the plot.
This is a great set of novellas and short stories surrounding Halloween for some of my favorite series, there was also a few new to me authors that I will be reading the rest of their series.
Frightful Beginnings - C.R. Jane This is the first book I have read by this author and I will be reading the rest of the books about Eva and her men. Celstia Halloween - Yumoyori Wilson Loved this steamy novella that features a Halloween night involving Celestia and her men. I got a huge chuckle out of the song that Arielle kept singing Embers of Samhain - C. Strange Great prequel to a series that is now on my to be read list. Penelope and her team kept me pulled in and I want more Hyde with me -Stacy Jones and K.B. Everly Ok I so want more of this story. I want to see exactly how Jacky continues on. Losing Alyanna - Beth Hendrix This was a great story and made me automatically go looking to see if there was more to this series Samhain Goddess - Skye MacKinnon Wow I love this Halloween addition to Wyn and her guys. So many different feels watching everyone deal with their ghost. A Date with a Werewolf - K.T. Strange I really enjoyed the date that Eli and Darcy went on, it was sweet and a perfect reason for me to follow up with the rest of the series The Hunter's Moon - Elle Cross Great introduction to a new series to me, I will be reading more of Corbin Tricked- Mila Young What a great start to the Elves and the Shoemaker fairy tale, I soooo can not wait to see what this author has in store for Rain and her men. Soul Echo - Harper Wylde While I hate teaser chapters this was a perfect way for me to check out a new to me author that I will be reading more of. Four Lilac Spells - Bea Paige This was an amazing story and I automatically went to mark more of the series to be read at a later date. Strange Angels - May Dawson Great, steamy Halloween adventure for Ellis and her men! Forbidden Hex - T.J. Spade & Montana Ash This.... this book had me scrambling to see how many books were in the series and if they were open to Kindle unlimited. I will be reading more of this series. Conjured Shadows - Joely Sue Burkhart I really hope that this book will be extended or made into a series at a later date.
Spoiler free, as always. So, I read this anthology through my Kindle Unlimited subscription. I was excited - I love a few of the authors involved, and was looking forward to reading new ones. It wasn't until I actually started reading, though, that I realized that the majority of these stories aren't exactly "stand alone" stories - they all take place in universes that are part of larger book series' by each authors. Which is great in the case of Yumoyori Wilson and Elle Cross, the two authors in this anthology whose book series' I've read. However, in the case of the rest, it was a bit...Disconcerting. To suddenly be thrown into a story where not only did I not know the characters or the backstory, but had no idea of the context of certain things. It made it harder for me to stay interested in some of the other stories.
As for those two - Celestia's Halloween by Yumoyori Wilson was fabulously dirty. Completely out of context of the books, of course, other than including the characters, really, but a delightfully spooky and sexy read! I enjoyed it immensely as the short interlude it was obviously meant as!
And Elle Cross' brief interlude into The Hunter's Moon was an AWESOME look at Corbin Troy, and I adored it! Not so much sexy time, but I loved the action, the sarcasm, and the hilarity involved, and the obvious Halloween tones.
The other stories were good, but due to the fact that I haven't read their main series, and thus knew absolutely nothing about them, I'm afraid I simply...Wasn't as invested in them. A bit disappointing, tbh. I would have preferred true stand-alone stories, I think. Or a disclaimer recommending that the reader look into the previous books in order to understand each story better. So only four stars, one star off due to that.
This is a really nice anthology, with a mix of stories, some of which are RH.
Celestia Halloween by Yumoyori Wilson (4 ⭐️) Smoking hot Halloween story. Celestia finds herself and her guys trapped, and must pass 5 trials, each upping the steam level :)
Embers of Samhain by CJ Strange (3.5 ⭐️) Intriguing but I also felt a little lost. This is a prequel novel, and I am intrigued enough that I will be looking for the series when it is released.
Hyde with Me by Stacy Jones and EB Everly (5 ⭐️) This is a really interesting take on Jeckyl and Hyde, and a prequel story. It was a fun read, and I will definitely be looking for the series once it is out.
Losing Alyanna by Beth Hendrix (2 ⭐️) I felt like I was missing out on parts of the story, and didn’t feel connected to the characters,
Samhain Goddess by Skye Mackinnon (4 ⭐️) This is a short story spinoff of the Daughter of Winter series. We get to catch up with Wyn, her guys, Dewi, and a couple other characters as they encounter some ghostly haunting. I really liked Wyn’s own ghostly encounter ❤️
Date with a Werewolf by KT Strange (4 ⭐️) Darcy and her guys from the Phoenixcry series. This is a short and steamy read.
Soul Echo by Harper Wylde (4 ⭐️) This is the first 5 chapters of Wylde’s new book that releases in Feb. 2019. I was hooked, and wanted to read more about Liss, Josiah, Maxon, Falcon, and the rest. February can’t come soon enough :)
Four Lilac Spells by Bea Paige (4 ⭐️) This is Nostra and Lissandra’s short story. The story takes place during Fern’s Flight when Nostra is magicless and refusing to Entwine with Lissandra - it is emotional and also has some steam too.
This was a fun anthology. It had a nice mix of stories from books I have read and new stories that I can't wait to learn more about.
Samhain goddess by Skye MacKinnon was a story set in the wynter princess series. I loved this series so I was happy to get more wyn and her guardians. It's wyn's first official event as queen but she doesn't have much time to be nervous about it because there are ghosts. The story was short but gave me everything I could want and made me desperate for more. I really hope that this isn't the end of wyn's journey.
Hunters moon by Elle cross is a spin off of two of her series with Corbin as the main character. It was nice getting to know more about her and learnign a big secret about her past with vesper. I liked that it had so much mystery and information but never felt rushed. I loved the bits from the brightling series. I am looking forward to more from corbin's pov.
Four lilac spells by bea Paige takes place during fern's flight and tells the story of what happened between lissa and Nostra. Their story has been told through out the sisters of hex series but now we finally get to see it though Lissa's eyes. They are soulmates and are trying so hard to save the other that they are willing to sacrifice themselves. This story clears up some questions about how Nostra ends up the way he did in the book but still leaves some unanswered. This was a great little addition to one of my favorite series.
Fantastic reverse anthology with some of my absolute favorite authors!!
Hyde with Me by K.B. Everley and Stacy Jones is a unique twist on Jekyll and Hyde. It was fantastic!! I feel like Jacky is that bad girl side most (all?) of us we wish we could unleash!! Can’t wait to see how this turns out!
Celestia Halloween by Yumoyori Wilson. Celestia is never less than brilliant!! This Halloween she gets put to the test...in a very good way!! This was such a fun read!! Just maybe don't read it in when you're in public! ;)
Four Lilac Spells by Bea Paige. We met Nostra and Lissa in the Sisters of Hex series and i'm so very glad they got a story of their own! This book was soooo good. It will rip you heart out and then put it right back!! We end with a familiar scene from Fern's Flight...now to wait for more in The Sisters of Hex series!
Tricked by Mila Young. Fun, steamy read! Thoroughly enjoyed this retelling on a classic fairy tale! Can't wait to read more of Linet and her elves!!
The Hunter's Moon by Elle Cross. Such an exciting read! Where some of the other stories were heavy on the romance, The Hunter's Moon was full of action, suspense, and intrigue! Felt like Urban fantasy at it finest! And, quite frankly, left me on the edge my seat needing more!
So that's just a few of the fantastic stories in this anthology!! You definitely need to get this book!!
I love anthologies, so when I was told about a Halloween anthology, I said sign me up!! Some of my favorite authors are in on this one too, so double win for me. Elle Cross with Hunter's Moon, Amazing. Lieutenant Troy is back, and it seems someone has marked her. the hunt is on. Deimos and Balin make appearances. Demon cat is actually not a cat and some sort of guardian who worships her, I guess lol. There is a lot that is not as it seems in this short story. From near death experiences to twists you don't expect, this is a great read.
Bea Paige with Four Lilacs. For those of us who have been reading Sister's of the Hex, we have been waiting for Lissa and Nostra's story. I loved it!! I have loved these characters and their supporting roles since the beginning, so to see their story was everything I wanted and more.
Hyde with Me by KB Everly and Stacy Jones. 100 stars if not more. I was so excited for this RH prequel that is a new take on the Jekyl and Hyde story. Jacuelyn Hyde will do anything to save her Aunt, she has already lost her Mother. She is a chemist of sorts, what she concocts she tries out on herself first. Now she must deal with the end result, Jacky. They don't see eye to eye. Jacky thinks Lyn is boring, Jacky wants other things. Will they learn to live with one another. This is going to be a great series now that we have the prequel :)
The Hunter’s Moon by Elle Cross was awesome! And it’s about time Corbin got her own story which with the way the ending of this was she still has more to say so I shouldn’t be too surprised she has another book in the future. This book was one of the reasons I bought this Halloween Anthology because I absolutely love Elle Cross’s books.
Merged review:
Conjured Shadows by Joely Sue Burkhart was a fantastic story. I absolutely love reading books because her writing style is so different than any other author.

An Amazing Halloween Anthology!
There are so many amazing authors in this anthology and so many amazing stories. Yumoyori Wilson, Elle Cross, Joely Sue Burkhart and Skye MacKinnon just to name a few.
Celestia’s Halloween by Yumoyori Wilson was freaking fantastic! It was amazing to see Celestia and her men again!
Samhain Goddess by Skye MacKinnon was great! And she was another reason I bought this Halloween Anthology. And it was awesome to see some familiar faces in this book.
Conjured Shadows by Joely Sue Burkhart was a fantastic story. I absolutely love reading books because her writing style is so different than any other author.
Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed all the books but there’s no way that I could talk about every single one of them because otherwise I’d be writing a book myself if I did that. Lol ;)
Do I recommend this book? That would be a big HECK YEAH I most definitely recommend this book because I absolutely loved every single story that’s in here!
Yes this is short and sharp story but I held my attention from page one all through till the end! The guys are all so different and this story is from Ian’s POV and we don’t really get to know the three other guys. Plus we only get a quick glimpse at who Rue is and what she is going to mean to the guys. Colour me intrigued on how they all connect and who she is, what she does and if she saves the day! And that ending....what did it mean? This book has it all-mystery, demons, wizards and blood!! Excited to see what comes next.

This is an interesting and exciting set of short stories by a number of very talented authors. Some great connecting books in some great series! Highly recommended read!

Four Lilac Spells - Bea Paige I love this short quick story for Lissa and Nostra. I love getting to know these two as a couple more and seeing how they overcome their issues together. It is also great to have this glimpses of Accacia and her men and seeing how they have really connected more! I love everything about this series by the super talented Bea Paige and this book just ties the other stories together and fills in some of the gaps. Can’t wait for the next set of stories in this exciting series!
Celestia Halloween - Yumoyori Wilson I love reading about Celestia and her guys just getting home together with all the other drama going on in the background. It is great to see the twins connecting together with Celestia but I do want more of her with the other guys as well..I would live more time especially with the tiger twins! I good short story that keeps the reader interested in all these characters and got me excited for the next book! A fun and steamy read
Tricked - Mila Young This is s good Introduction to an exciting new story by the talented Mila. All the main characters are really interesting and I am excited to read more and learn about them in more depth. This is a quick, fun, action packed read and an intriguing take on a classic fairytale! Cannot wait for more.
What Goes Bump in the Night: A Halloween Paranormal Romance Anthology is an amazing compilation of some amazing authors in the paranormal romance field. This book is a great read for anyone who loves stories filled with hot guys and steamy stories. My particular favorites are by Bea Paige, Joley Sue Burkhart, and May Dawson. Bea Paige's Four Lilac Spells finally gives us Nostra and Lissa's love story. I have loved these characters since I first was introduced to them in the Sisters of Hex series and this steamy interlude gives readers an unexpected twist at the end that makes you want to go read Fern's Flight so that you can find out what happens next. Joley Sue Burkhart's Conjured Shadows is a fantastic and steamy read that involves that inadvertent summoning of something that was not expected and leads to an incredibly steamy scene. May Dawson's Strange Angels delves back into the world of Lilith and her Harem and gives us a new steamy scene between Ellis and her guys which definitely made me happy as I have come to enjoy these characters. So many other great author's contributed to this anthology that are too numerous to mention, but it is a fantastic read and is a definite one for anyone who loves steamy stories.
What a funny, sexy, adventurous, dark way to enjoy Halloween! This Anthology brings together several wonderful authors and the world of their creation. You can be delighted with an adventure of a favorite character or get to know new ones that will definitely make you need to know them more.
CONJURED SHADOWS by Joely Sue Burkhart We get to see Crimson Arcana been conjures by Wizards that appears to be fighting the dark forces that are taking over their world. This story get me pumped for more, because we see that this is just the beginning. The dark set, kings, lords, demons, magic, steamy scenes, need I continue?
HUNTERS’S MOON by Elle Cross Who wasn’t curious about Troy Corbin, Vesper’s BFF? In this one she is presented at the center of the plot and we get a glimpse in what goes in her life. So many secrets to uncover. Also so many surprises this one brings to the wonderful Grit world. And we get to see crossing over characters from the Brightling series.
CELESTIA HALLOWEEN by Yumoyori Wilson Costume? ✅ Friendship and relationship bonding? ✅ Sassy familiar singing Baby Sark Doo doo? ✅✅ sexy games? ✅✅✅ and we can’t forget the candy, chocolate syrup? ✅ I think I don’t need to say more. For halloween fun and games follow Celestia and her friends in Aslan Acadany Trik or treat!
What a great collection of stories by some very talented writers. Some were familiar names, and some are new to me, but all write scintillating stories about sassy, sexy heroines and their delicious alphas that cover every species of the paranormal world. Author Bea Paige invites us in to her Sisters of Hex world with her tale about Nostra and Lissa, two witches who play a key role as the story unfolds. You don’t need to know the story in order to enjoy this novella, and that is the beauty of all of these tales. They standalone perfectly and you’ll leave totally satisfied, and hopefully, eager to read more. Skye McKinnen brings us a tale from her Daughter of Winter series with Wyn and her Guardians and Elle Cross has a fabulous entry that brings us back to the Brightling Court and a character that deserves her own place in the sun. These are just three of sixteen tales that will leave you smiling and satisfying. Great anthology! Highly recommended.
This was such a great anthology! It had some of my favorite authors such as Yumoyori Wilson, Skye Mackinnon, Joely sue Burkhart and last but not least K.B Every who co-wrote an amazing twist to the classic Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde with author Stacy Jones! Hyde with Me is a prequel to a new series that is all about Jaquelyn Hyde is a shy quiet college student studying chemical pathology and spends most of her time trying to find a cure for the disease that is killing her aunt who along with her uncle took her in after losing her parents in a tragic accident. After testing a new "cure" things go a little haywire and Jacky is created. Jacky is the complete opposite of Lyn she is dark and dangerous which could cause some problems for the sweet and quiet Lyn. Add in 2 sexy blue eyed twins and a charming southern gentlemen and who knows what is going to happen next! I am so excited to read what happens next in this new series!
Most of these short stories (if not all, I haven't gotten through all of them yet) is either a prequel, or extra scenes, that go along with a series. The prequels are not bad seeing as it doesn't really give away much to the series.
But the ones that are just there to get you interested in a series kind of suck. Nowhere in the description does it say that these are part of a series, just that its never before seen tales.
I was expecting stand alone stories that could be easily read. Wasn't expecting the stories to be full length novels either, just fun short reads. Not really fun to read when you're missing half the story.
I gave this a 3 star review because the writing is nice, there's not a lot of grammar or spelling mistakes, and the authors have some nice writing styles. If you've read the books these stories go along with you'll love this anthology. It just wasn't for me.
This review is only for Joely Sue Burkharts story! I skim read the rest but i couldnt get into them because i was so excited to read her story!! The rest seemed good but i didnt have the patience to get attached and do more than a quick skim through!
I was so excited to see a new release from Joely Sue Burkhart, i recently discovered her Queen Takes Knights series and omg im still so in love with that entire series after i devoured it over a few days!! One of the best RH book series ever!! So to see another book by her had me so excited! I actually really enjoyed this super short read. Im intrigued to know more after that abrupt and cliffhanger ending! The dynamics of the four heroes in the story is so interesting i need to know more!! And Crimson Black/Rue is so mysterious, there wasnt enough of her in this short read so im definitely looking forward to more of this book! Great read from this author yet again!
The stories I have read so far have blown me away! I will update my review as I continue to read them over the weekend. I loved Four Lilac Spells by Bea Paige, Celestia's Halloween by Yumoyori Wilson, Hunter's Moon by Elle Cross, and Hyde with Me by KB Everly and Stacy Jones and can't wait to delve more into this anthology when I am not dealing with the real world job haha.
These stories have action and suspense, but also amazing romance and some are packing in the steam department. These stories have everything you could possibly want in an anthology. The stories are so different and some are new stories while others are from previous series by authors. Its got a great mix of stories, creatures, relationships, etc.
You will not be disappointed, make sure you pick up this anthology RIGHT NOW ❤️❤️❤️
As stated, this is a short story for an anthology, but it's one hell of a short story. You get hooked right from the get go. It's set in a time of horse and carriage, but it's not stuffy feeling like some stories can be. It packs a punch that only Joely Sue can pull off. It keeps you hooked while the men try to figure out what to do with a female. And how the female really is. The ending makes you hope and beg and pray that Joely Sue turns it into a series(fingers crossed!). If you're a fan of her work, then you wont be disappointed by this.
Merged review:
...no words
Oh my God. I dont even know where to begin. The emotions. Holy cow the emotions. Some of these short stories are part of existing series and some of course are (hopefully) beginning a of new series. The existing series that have short stories in this anthology? Ahhhhmazing. The other ones that arent part of series? For the love of God I will sell my kidney to see them made into series of their own. I tried to drag out this anthology because I loved what I was reading. It just wasnt possible to do though. I DEVOURED it. Well done. Seriously. Well done.
So far I've only read Bea Paige's Four Lilac Spells so I'm reviewing that one, but I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the stories. Four Lilac Spells is about Nostra and Lissa's love story. It is set during a time in Fern's Flight (the final book in Fern's story), having read that adds to the enjoyment of this story, but if you haven't read Fern's Flight I think Four Lilac Spells would still be enjoyable (and probably make you want to read Fern's story to see what happens next). Nostra is sick and has lost his magic and there is only one way for him to get better, he is being a stubborn man though and won't do it. Lissa tries the spells and with the help of her friends try and save Nostra. There is a twist at the end which is quite unexpected. Great short story.
Such a fantastic group of Authors and stories. I particularly loved Forbidden Hex. It’s a great follow up To Forbidden Hybrid which I recommend is read first but not essential. Hilarious and packed from beginning to end. Maeve, Bishop, Lucian and Gabe are back. We carry on where we left but a few weeks on. It’s Halloween. Bishop really doesn’t like Halloween This is just an ordinary day for Bishop. Being late for the last few weeks he’s trying super hard to get to work early. Then he spies that thing sitting next to Maeve and he knows it’s not going to be a good day. Oh how right he is. He gets a Hex put on him in the most hilarious way. Read on to find out if Bishop can find the Spirit of Halloween or is he’s bad luck going to continue forever? I highly recommend reading this
I really enjoyed this book! Ever since I "met" Corbin in Grit, I hoped and wondered if she'd get her own story or series and I'm so glad she did! This story could be read as a standalone but you'll really get the most out of it if you read Grit and Grit 2 first. I love how Corbin is written so uniquely and distinctly; Elle Cross does not just rewrite the same characters in new stories. They are each so very different and Corbin has a blend of darkness and humor that drew me in right away. I really, really want to know what happens next, as the book ends on an intriguing cliffhanger. I can't wait to fall more deeply down the rabbit hole with this one!
Where to start.....this book was amazing so many great authors in one sexy terrifying anothology ...what more could you want you have your horror your heartbreaks and then mix in the sexy times with hot guys and you have the making of a great story but it's more then just a great story it's multiple from so many talented authors....some of the stories are additional stories to ones that are already out and then you have the start of great new stories that I can't wait to dive into....well done to all the authors that contributed to this spooktacular book....I looked forward to stalking all of you.
