If you work through and understand, there is no question that your GRE score in the math section will be higher

I have tutored several adults as they prepared for the graduate record examination (GRE) battery of tests. The reason why I was brought in was that they were older people that were about to pursue advanced degrees and they were uncertain regarding their math skills. Several different study aids were used, including the official material on the GRE web sites.
This book is thick, containing the necessary overkill needed for the effective preparation for the test. There is nearly 600 pages of material covering all the math that appears on the test. Very little of it is devoted to explanations of the material, the assumption is that the reader needs only the briefest of reviews. The rest is problems, some of which are quite advanced, generally speaking there are more problems than most people would ever work through. A section of 80 advanced questions is included.
There is no question that the student that works through all of the problems in this book will be well prepared for the math component of the GRE. For most people, going to that extreme will not be necessary, the proper concentration on the areas of weakness will be adequate. Yet, it is good that there is more in the collection than most people will need. Better too much than too little.
