We see our customers as invited guests to a party, and we are the hosts. It's our job every day to make every important aspect of the customer experience a little bit better. What we need to do is always lean into the future; when the world changes around you and when it changes against you - what used to be a tail wind is now a head wind - you have to lean into that and figure out what to do because complaining isn't a strategy.
Wow! If there is a takeaway from this book. It would be be Relentless when you come up with a new idea. Let nothing stop you! I love the idea of the presentation s with a 5 pages report on an idea you have. It would definitely make you think it through. It’s not as boring as PowerPoint presentation. Who knows you may be the next Jeff Bezos. New Ideas and the pursuit of those ideas is the future of our Country. Keep learning, take care of yourself and always pursue what you believe will work. When I was young I had an idea of a flying car. I didn’t pursue that idea, but today it is becoming a reality. So do not be like me instead spark the curiosity of possibilities.
I was hoping for a blow by blow account about the struggles, setbacks, conflicts etc of a startup. Instead it was really a fast dash through the headlines of the founding and growth of Amazon. I enjoyed other biographies like those of Musk, Jobs and Gates that provide rich insights into the pain, conflict and struggles of being a pioneer in an industry. I found this book boring, and lost interest very quickly.
Brevity good, but doesn’t really disclose Bezos working methodology, even in abstractions to protect confidentiality. I think some daily business activities as examples might be interesting.
A very fascinating book for going beyond the expected into the world of impossibilities. Definitely for anyone who wants to be inspired to be more than they are today.
