Seeking Fate by Brenda Drake is the third book of the young adult romantic fantasy The Fated series. Each book in the series has switched the main characters to form a new romantic relationship however the fantasy side of the story does carry over from book to book leaving the series best enjoyed from the beginning.
The entire series is written around the three Layne sisters who have magical abilities when it comes to others fate and destiny. In Seeking Fate Daisy Layne has traveled to Europe to track down a first born son doomed by a family curse to die on his 18th birthday to try to stop it from happening.
When getting to Europe Daisy meets up with Andrei Vasile with whom she has been in contact with online for the past two years while he helped her research and trace family lines to find the one Daisy needs to help. When meeting in person however Daisy finds it hard to be as comfortable around Andrei as she had been online.
Having read the entire series from the beginning I knew that I would enjoy Seeking Fate. The series does a wonderful job taking a teen romance and intertwining it into a action packed fantasy series that keeps the pages turning. Love the idea of the girls taking tarot and fortunes to a whole new level with the abilities they have been giving in the story. Fun series that I’d recommend checking out!

Seeking fate is an interesting spin on online relationships. Daisy has never met Andrei, she knows his fate. Daisy has until his eighteenth birthday to change his bad luck. He is the firstborn son and cursed. They have been talking for two years and have become good friends. Daisy has only seen pictures of Andrei in his younger days when they meet he isn't quite what she expects.
The fated series is about a family who finds their perfect match. The family are magically gifted (Gypsy) and Daisy's talent is fate changing. The family are traditional and even though it isn't the usual thing for a lady to travel across Europe to meet a young boy Daisy has no choice. She wants to save her friend and end the curse.
When they meet they are both nervous and it takes them a while to see what's already there. Unfortunately, not everyone likes fate changes and Daisy has more than one problem to deal with.
I enjoyed this book it had some interesting themes and the romance was sweet. I've read 2 of the 3 books in this series. They are unique and creative.

I loved the first two books on the series, but this one somewhat fell short on my expectations. Probably it was because I kind of had high expectations...
The thing is, I loved many things from this book: the writing is amazing. The way the author tells the story, alternating between the two main characters really flesh out the story and gives it more substance. I loved the idea that they had been skypiing for two years and had feelings for each other, but discover is not the same to know someone on-line versus knowing the same person on the flesh. So l, following this, I really enjoyed how awkward they were at the beginning and how their relationahip evolved. It wasn't forced at all and was very real.
Then... why I didn't enjoy it that much? Because I knew from the beginning who the recipient for the curse was, which took away all the suspense for me. Also, I couldn't believe how easily they travelled from places to places, even being followed and with no money. I also felt that the issue with the Thorn members is not fully solved, and the steps taken to do so seem so... easy and childish with an "association" as big as that one...
Also, she is supposed to keep quiet about the mission and the cards, but she keeps playing her magic in front of crowds, saying they won't believe it is really magic... but I don't know... they are being followed... shouldn't she need to be more careful?
And to top it off, I don't understand why he doesn't tell her the truth until it blows on his face... to add drama later on?
All being said, I love the series still, and want to keep reading them.

I've been putting off writing this review for a while now. This book is so different from the rest in the series, the atmosphere in this one is so much darker than the previous ones and it's a little more predictable than the previous ones. It took me aback, and I didn't know how to approach this review.
The writing is good, but for some strange reason, it wasn't as engaging as the previous books in the series. The characters are well-written, I really enjoyed how well the dynamic between Daisy and Andrei was developed. The addition of The Thorns was unexpected and interesting, but I wish that they were brought in a lot earlier in the series, cause I have this love for stories about secret organizations/societies, and I think it would've made it all so much more intriguing.
It was a quick read, but it was predictable enough for it to be infuriating, and I couldn't help but feel let down by it.

This is, from what I can see, the third in The Fated Series by Brenda Drake. The Layne sisters each taking up a book. Fated as in powers buried in history and discrimination from secret societies plotting to eliminate them. Daisy must find the first born residing in Europe before he reaches his eighteenth birthday. With her powers she must save him and herself before death fulfills its curse. Helping Daisy chase down this unknown sole is Andrei who is fighting his growing attraction to her. Close calls and dead ends plague the quest they seek to accomplish. Likable couple and plot. Daisy focused on saving a life and it wasn’t easy as her own life might be in danger. She was in a plane and skimmed the pages of notes she’d written in the notebook on the tray before her. Her sister-Iris- next to Daisy in the seats and said to Daisy that she should get some sleep as Dairy had researched for two years this ritual and all that went into it and had gone over it hundreds of times. It had been two years since a spirit named Carina had possessed her older sister Aster. Daisy was the one who gotten rid of her. Daisy and Aster both were fate changers and had the power to change one’s fate with the touch of a tarot card. But with this power came consequences. Dangerous ones for anyone the fate changer touched after performing magic. Apparently it also gave Daisy the power to send menacing poltergeists on their way to the here after. Vrina begged Daisy to save the last Van Buren heir as a curse would cause him to die on his eighteenth birthday and Daisy had also gotten the curse if that last heir died so would Daisy. So Daisy had to find the heir and remove the curse. Her sister wasn’t aware what the doctor had told Daisy and her mom eighteen months ago or her sisters wouldn’t have helped her. Changing fates was taking its toll on onher and Daisy's heart was now weak. Daisy had wanted to take the trip for over a year but her mother had said she was too afraid and Daisy was too young to go alone. Daisy dreamed of a boy with blue eyes, whose eyes begged her for help and before it was too late for him or her. Daisy was determined to find him as they were now connected. The curse went from Carina to Daisy.. Carina had cursed the Van Burens centuries ago when one of the Van Burens broke her heart. Dairy could feel the curse crushing her her lungs at times, squeezing her heart until it hurt. Teasing her with touches of death. Daisy was afraid.Miri was the local fortune teller on the Ocean City Boardwalk. Daisy had grown close to Miri who had mentored and helped Daisy master her gift. Miri nephew Andrei had agreed to help Daisy and had agreed to help Daisy with her search. He was to meet them at the airport. They had twelve days to cross Europe and back it back to Asters wedding, His family feared Daisy, Daisy was doing good things saving people’s lives and she kept it up until the nosebleeds and the extreme headaches became to extreme headaches became too much for Daisy. There were risks helping this boy but Daisy didn’t want to die or generations of first born heirs keep dying. The deaths has to stop. . The infinity scar on her wrist throbbed and it only did that when someone around her had the fate of death. Fate changers got the scar when they bonded with their tarot cards. After the girls got off the plane they saw a hot guy holding a sign with Daisy’s name on it her ;last name was spelled wrong. on meeting face to face Andrei and Daisy were awkward but had been online friends for two years. They had found three potential victims. Iris broke her leg in Amsterdam so Daisy had to go just with Andrei to find the heir before it was too late . Daisy had never traveled without someone from her family. Andrei was also afraid of Daisy because of her talent but they travel together he is just careful not to touch her. Andrei saw a man that had been outside the bakery again at the station and he was looking at Daisy and then Andrei noticed his ring and took a picture and sent it to to his aunt Miri. Miri replied the man belongs to the thorn who killed fate changers . His two cousins were members and obviously got a hold of this man about Daisy. His aunt said she would take care of things, but they would have to change their itinerary. Andrei knew he’d have to be more careful, be more aware of their surroundings. Daisy meant something to Andrei many times she’d there as a friend for him while he adjusted to his new life. Once it was 3:00 am. Daisy’s time and she wouldn’t get off line until she was confident he was OK. He never meant someone as as Daisy and she was more than he expected. She was caring. She would risk her life to save a little girl facing death. Risk organ failure to to follow a homeless woman into an alley to change her fate. Andrei wished he was like that selfless. Andrei tried to forget how the thought of her in his arms was driving him insane.
I loved this book. I loved the aspect of a fate changer and how it took a lot out of a date changer physically at least in Daisy’s case and how she was willing to help others with their gift. the third book in the fated series, seeking fate, finds the fate changer, daisy layne, looking for the last of the van burens. his fate is tied to hers. his death will lead to hers. so she makes a trek across europe evading the thorns, a crazed religious sect out to kill fate changers, with her internet friend/european guide/love interest, andrei.
andrei knows what daisy is. and even though it can be dangerous to be close to her, he is already half in love with her when they first meet. too bad they both feel awkward without the safety of a computer monitor between them. it takes a while for them to figure out how to be with one another in person. that they are on this crazy journey only adds to that.
this book was enjoyable, but the big twist is given away too early. i'm pretty sure most readers figure out at the same moment i did who the last van buren heir really is. and then there was the unrealistic way these two kids traveled across europe. not just within cities, they moved across several countries. partly the issue is that andrei and daisy would identify where they'd have to go next and would talk about transportation but then the next chapter would start and they'd arrived in whatever city it was that they needed to be. this just didn't feel real. and i felt like we missed opportunities for the characters to deepen their relationship because we don't get to see them in these confined moments.
nonetheless, this is a fun adventure, and a nice conclusion to the series.

I adored every book in The Fated Series, and Seeking Fate is no exception!!!! Seeking Fate is told from two perspectives, and each one is gripping. Beautifully written, with a wonderfully described setting (Europe!), great world-building, and a slow burn romance, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. Brenda Drake is the queen of action packed fantasy-romance!

If Daisy doesn’t find him and change his fate, they’ll both be toast. Her online friend, Andrei, and her sister, Iris, are on board to help her trek through Europe in search of the cursed kid. Unfortunately, an evil underground society, who are intent on ridding the world of fate changes, are hot on their trail.
I absolutely loved the realistic awkwardness between Daisy and Andrei when they meet in person after two years of communicating online and through social media. We spend so much of our lives with people we interact with via electronic media and, especially for introverts, converting an online friendship to real life can be challenging. At one point, Daisy wonders out loud if it might be easier to switch from verbal communication to texting. Drake simply nailed it.
SEEKING FATE is the third and final installment in the Fated series. Drake provides all the information needed to enjoy Daisy’s story for newbies to the series. I enjoyed the characters and world of SEEKING FATE so much, I look forward to diving into TOUCHING FATE and CURSING FATE along with Drake’s other stories in the Entangled Crave line. Drake provides the perfect blend of paranormal elements and young adult romance.

I totally gave this book a fair shot-- I almost got halfway in.
The thing is, I wasn't pulled into it. I realized I was only halfway paying attention to what was going on. I suppose it isn't my type of writing?
The characters seemed to contradict themselves at times and the biggest fault, the one that had me closing the book was how the main dude was keeping a secret from her REGARDING THEIR SAFETY for no apparent reason. Like, why wouldn't he just tell her what was going on instead of trying to be caveman and dragging her off or changing things and lying to cover it up!
Also, seriously, who does magic in plain view of everyone???
*sigh*
So, no I just couldn't get into it. It isn't a horrible book, the changing fates concept is super interesting and was the one part of the book I really enjoyed reading about. Unfortunately, nothing else worked for me. 2 stars though because it was semi-enjoyable and I'm sure other people will enjoy this book.

The story was interesting and I wish the book focused a bit more on that part. There was a lot of traveling and sightseeing info in the book which at times seemed to interrupt the action of the story. I really liked Daisy and Andrei individually and as a couple. It ended well and without a cliffhanger.

"Seeking Fate" finishes out the Fated series, which follows the sisters who have the gift/curse of being Fate Changers. This means they can change someone's fate through tarot card reading. Daisy is on a quest to find the last van Buren heir- the firstborns of the family are cursed to die when they turn 18. There is only one left, and if Daisy can find him and change his fate, the curse will be broken forever. She is aided in her search by Miri's nephew with whom she has been communicating through social media for 2 years (but only seen old photos).
When she arrives in Europe, she is surprised to find Andrei- a very attractive 17-year-old who looks nothing like the awkward old photos she had seen. Thrown off her game, she and Andrei reconnect slowly in person, building on their previous online relationship/friendship. Meanwhile, they are traveling in search of the last van Buren firstborn- they have a few leads who might be it but she'll have to read their cards to be sure. To add to it all, Daisy's life is entangled with the firstborn, and if he dies, so will she.
Their way is complicated by The Thorns, a fanatical religious group with a sect that seeks to kill Fate Changers- and they are aware of Daisy and her path through Europe, showing up at every turn. On top of complicated travel plans and finding potential cursed heirs, Daisy and Andrei are fighting to stay safe. Daisy isn't making it easy, because she can't help changing the fate of people who come across her path, even if it eats her up inside (literally). Daisy and Andrei are racing the clock to solve the problem and save her and the firstborn's life.
Overall, it was a fast-paced and fun (although really predictable) story- I liked Andrei and Daisy quite a bit as people, and it was nice that they had a friendship backstory to build the romance upon (not a instalove scenario here). We read from both Andrei and Daisy's points-of-view which was also nice and built their relationship more quickly. The intrigue and thriller aspects of their travel also added an extra element to the book that gave it something extra. It's a solid addition to the series and finishes out the story nicely. However, I definitely wouldn't mind reading more about fate changers- it's an interesting idea- and the romance is a nice touch in this series!

3.5 stars — So, first things first: I totes didn’t realize this was the last in a series. I knew it was part of a series (it says “The Fated Series” on the cover), but I assumed it was the start of one. I really wish it’d been more clear, b/c while it wasn’t a continuation of the previous stories, as I was reading I could tell I would have gotten more enjoyment if I’d read the other stories first. So it’s essentially a standalone, but I find in paranormal series it’s harder to do a series of standalones, b/c there just feels like something missing. Like if you’re at a party and some friends have an inside joke, and while you can understand based on context, it’s not quite as fun as if you were in on the inside joke (shout out to the hubby for the analogy).
That being said, I really did enjoy myself! It was a fun and unique world, I’ve never read anything about tarot card readers and magic that surrounds that. I was surprised by some of the innuendo, particularly from Andrei, so I can’t decide if this is mature young adult or new adult…it’s sort of on that line I guess. I thought the world building was pretty good, I was never really lost…other than, like I said, feeling like my view would be more fleshed out if I’d started with book one. I will admit that oftentimes the paranormal/magical elements really fell by the wayside and it was more of a thriller/mystery book, you know? That’s a bit of a bummer. Probably another thing that would have been helped by reading the rest of the series…and I am tempted.
Daisy could be a bit of a conundrum in that she was purported to be this sweet, caring, empathetic girl, and I definitely felt that…but probably not to the degree to which I was told. She was also really insecure, and gave super mixed signals to Andrei sometimes. There were definitely moments where I got frustrated by her, but on the whole I liked her.
Andrei was his own conundrum…part playboy, part sweet beta boy, I never really figured him out I don’t think. And because we didn’t really get to see them interacting in those 2 years they talked with each other online, only heard about it, I felt like I didn’t understand how his feelings developed so quickly.
Even their chemistry was a conundrum. I definitely felt it, but like I said, I would have liked to see them making the connection instead of jumping in when it was supposedly already there.
Writing this review, I can’t decide whether to round up or down. I really did enjoy myself with the story. While I totally predicted the twist about the cursed heir from essentially the start of the story, I was still curious how it was all going to play out. But it also really felt like something was lacking. *sigh* I hate it when they’re solidly in that half star and I can’t decide. But my advice is definitely to read the series and not just this book…I just have a strong suspicion it would have altered my opinion slightly.

The first born son of the Van Buren family will die upon his eighteenth birthday. A twist comes when Daisy’s fate is tied to his.
Andrei, a handsome guy who Daisy has known for two years. He has offered Daisy to help find the heir and save her life. But what Andrei doesn’t know is his past is a bit darker than expected.
Time is running out and Daisy is being hunted.
Well just a confession, I haven’t read the other Fated series books. However, Drake does a wonderful job of providing enough information about the previous books. I quickly caught on to the past plots and grew to know the characters with each passing page.
I will be honest this book wasn’t exactly my favorite. At times I got bored and didn’t want to continue, because it was very predictable and detailed in areas I don’t care for. The plot of the story was almost laid out from the beginning. You can pick up a few hints here and there, and boom. The plot is revealed. Also, the plot was detailed about their search. I would have liked more action involving the searching and the book overall.
What I do love is the relationship between Daisy and Andrei. Daisy and Andrei have built their relationship from friendship and it has grown. Those are some of my favorite relationships, because they are based on trust and friendship. Friendship is so important in relationships.
I’m not sure if this is the final installment, but it was alright. Maybe a bit more of a bang is needed.

This was a very quick read being less than 200 pages. This was truly an interesting book because it is about three sisters that have a gift or curse where they can change peoples fate. All they have to do is a tarot card reading.
This was a fast paced book I was sad when I finished it so quickly. I think it was because of the chemistry between Daisy and Andrei I wanted to know what was going to happen between them. Their first meeting was a little awkward because it was there first time meeting since talking online. I loved that their journey took them around Europe because iv always wanted to go, so being able to read about it was just as good.
After reading this book I found out that it was the third in the series. So now I’m going to have to go an read the other 2. With that being said I feel like this book can be read as a stand alone.

Honestly, I loved this book. I have not read any of the rest of the Fated series, but that will will be remedied soon, because I really enjoyed this book. Sure, I had a few issues, but overall this was a cute, light romance that took me around Europe.

The cover is looking quite nice. The kissing pair for sure ist not everyones taste, and unfortunately not 100% mine. Maybe because Daisy - from her own description, was also looking quite differently. The light between their lips looks quite mysterious, which fits to the story, although it's not really about magic kisses overall. The diagonal shape of the titel I like quite much.
The writing style was quite simple. It was written from the perspective of Andrei and Daisy ( but no first-person-perspecitve). The length of the chapters was nice.
The characteres were also "okay". I no that sounds bad. But I think "okay" is a fitting term. Daisy and Andrei were nice, but also nothing more than that. I missed a little bit, that the had no real edges and were a little dull. Also I couldn't really connect with them, which might also have to do with the story itself.
When I read the story idea about a fate changer, I got really interested. I wanted to know everything about Fate-Changers and this world, the author made up. However, I got quite disappointed. The story was quite flat and also a little dull. There was no "deep" information or description of the fate-changer idea. I wished for so much, but got so little. Maybe that's the reason, why I am overall quite disappointed with the book. It was not totally bad. Not at all. I liked the traveling around of the characters. I was not really satisified with the end so - as I predicted it a long time in advance.
Maybe some of my disappointment can be blamed on the fact that I read this book in the series without knowing the other parts. Although I think, that is for sure not 100% the reason. There were quite a few allusions on the other parts - but I did not feel like, I was missing a lot there.

I've probably been daft but when I requested I thought it was the first in a series and not the last. I still think this can easily be read as a stand alone but would prefer to have read the previous books beforehand. Despite this, I still enjoyed the book and themes it focuses upon.
I can't say that I've ever read a book based on tarot card readers and the magic world the envelops them. It's a completely different and enjoyable take on a YA romantic fantasy novel.
The characterisation in the book at time felt a little stifled. The reader is told that Daisy is a sweet, kind, caring girl but initially doesn't show herself to be this person at all. She's guarded and at times offensive to someone she's meant to have spoken to on Skype daily for two years. Daisy eventually appears to sometimes be this considerate and empathetic character but not to the extent that it is initially implied that she should be. As a character she annoyed me at times with how she stopped herself from opening up and being the heroine of her own story.
The romance aspect of the story with Andrei was also part of the story that annoyed me. We never really get to understand why they chatted for two years in this book alone unless I needed to read the previous stories to comprehend this. It seemed pretty whirlwind and with little to explained what caused his sudden infatuation. I just prefer a building romance rather than just immediately seeming to fall into one another's arms.
The ending of the story felt very predictable and had a considerable impact upon my rating. The story had great potential but didn't quite live up to my expectations. This book feels a little darker and grittier than the previous ones, which I liked. But it also felt more predictable in parts. I found my attention wavering, it didn’t keep me engrossed quite like the other two books in the series. The characters are well-written, it was fun seeing how their dynamic changed throughout the story, you could definitely feel their chemistry on every page. The ‘big twist’ is given away far too early, in my opinion. I’d have liked the tension and wonder to build up a bit more. Overall it’s a fun, adventure driven story which unfortunately drags in places but still manages to tie up the trilogy nicely.

Seeking Fate by Brenda Drake
This was the very first book I read by this author and I gave to say I loved it! It was very well written and kept your attention the entire time it was so hard for me to put down! I'm kinda disappointed that it was the final book in the series and that I read it first but that will not stop me from going back and reading the other two books!!!

Despite being told I could read this as a stand-alone, I just wasn't feeling it. I never felt invested in the story or the characters, and they felt awkward. I'm not sure if awkward is even the right word... but something didn't click for me. I tried reading it over a few days, but then gave up.
I wish some of the scenes had been explained with more details. One minute they're sitting down to dinner, and the next Daisy is wanting to undo the top button of her pants. What happened at dinner? How was the conversation? These were people she'd been communicating with online for years, but we don't get to see how they act face-to-face. Andrei was also praising his grandmother's Romanian cooking, but not a single dish was described.
Then there was the foreshadowing of conflict... it just appeared out of thin air. I was getting used to the characters flitting from one thought to the next, like they said what they were thinking at all times, but Andrei's sleuthing skills were unexpected and unfounded. It takes him a glance and a quick conversation via text to learn about a secret society some members of his family are a part of, and of course they want to kill Daisy. It was suuuuper random. In the end, it just wasn't a good fit for me.

I couldn’t put it down. I love the premise. Three sisters who have a gift and/or curse of being able to change people’s fates. They’re called Fate Changers, and they have the power to change someone’s fate through tarot card readings. But there’s a faction of society that doesn’t find this ability appealing and hunt them down to eliminate them as they see this gift as a threat.
What I truly loved about this book is that Ms. Drake invites the reader on a cat and mouse chase through Europe. Daisy and her friend’s nephew, Andrei, must find the last Van Buren heir because her fate is tied to this heir’s due to an unfortunate incident of a curse being transferred to her in the previous book. This is the third book in the series, and while I haven’t read the first two books, the author sprinkled just the right amount of backstory to clue the reader into the past so she could focus on Daisy’s story. I’m definitely buying the first two books in the series so I can read about Daisy’s other two sisters and how their fates fared.
While SEEKING FATE is somewhat predictable, it is fast-paced and the chemistry between the Daisy and Andrei kept me turning the pages! Total book hangover.
If you love good writing about a sassy, smart girl and a hella-hot guy traveling through Europe, then this book is for you. Highly recommend.
