Delight is a six-week study of the first thirty Psalms. It takes an in depth look at the character of God and His faithfulness and goodness to His people through every circumstance of life. It reminds us that no matter what we face, we can trust Him.
Each week contains 5 days of study including study questions. Each week also has a memory verse and a weekly reflection to help dig deeper into Scripture.
I enjoy having a guide that helps me make my way through Psalm. It was always such an “overwhelming” book to read because of how long it was. But I’ve enjoyed studying it at a slower pace. It’s helped me focus on some of the things that I’ve missed before.
A great devotional and questions book to go along with a chapter by chapter study of the Psalms. It’s simple, well-designed, and very Biblically based. I noticed a few typos here and there. This would work well with a small group, discipling someone one on one, or personal study. It is a little intense because it has homework for 6 days a week, but it doesn’t take that long to read and answer the questions. I also love that they include the Gospel message and tips for studying the Bible in each of their studies.
I didn't enjoy this study as much as the two Advent ones or 40 Days with Jesus (Lent) one I did. The weekly reflection was good as usual, but most of the readings that accompanied each psalm just didn't seem to go as deep as I've seen in the other studies. And I wish there had been more questions that drive you deeper into the passage or help you make connections to other passages. The psalms themselves are great, of course, and nourished my soul deeply. But this study left something to be desired.
I really like the idea of studying each Psalm, one at a time. I have the next two books in this series, and I plan on reading them as well.
The discussion questions for each daily reading are almost all solid. They helped me think deeply about the Psalm and the personal application.
The weekly discussion questions aren't bad, but I wish they didn't repeat each week. They're not all relevant to each grouping of Psalms.
In addition, I would have liked a more historical understanding of the context of the Psalms. For my personal study, I did this book alongside two different translations, each with commentary. The combination of all three sources helped me better wrestle with the Psalms, their meaning, and the differing interpretations over the centuries. Schmucker interprets too many of the Psalms as directly relating to Jesus, which has been an interpretation over time, but ignores Jewish history.
Overall, this is a good introductory Bible study for someone new to consistent study. Each day didn't take too long. Even with my additional reading and highlighting, I spent just 15-20 minutes each day on my Bible study.
Also, the design is beautiful, and the layout gives plenty of space to answer the discussion questions.

I enjoyed studying the first 30 psalms more in depth with this study and the summaries that were written for each day. I found the questions to be repetitive and not always relative to the reading. About half way through the study I stopped answering the questions and just focused on the reading and summaries.
A beautiful overview on the first 30 Psalms. Some content was wordy and the review questions were typically repetitive and shallow, but I enjoyed going through this in conjunction with meatier commentaries.
It was nice. Fine. Pretty. Nothing super profound but a devotional worth thinking about. I found the discussion/reflections questions lacking though and thought a couple of the Psalms needed to be split up across more than one day due to the length, but overall it was a decent devotional.
A good study that dives a little deeper into the Psalms. It’s always so helpful knowing the context of when a psalm was written, helps the understanding of it.
The psalms intimidate me. I feel like I miss both the overarching message AND the details with each one I read. That being said, I needed a bit more from this study than it provided.
I used the Daily Grace Co. app, and this study did not have corresponding videos like others I have done. Besides that, the format was as I expected from previous books of theirs.
