Changing Leaves

Rate this book

Gina hasn't always made the best choices, there are people in her past that she's deeply hurt. One of those people being Jess, her best friend who she'd completely lost contact with. Though she never stopped thinking of her, she could never bring herself to reach out after the shame of what she'd done to her. Gina didn't even want to come back to her hometown in fear of running into Jess, but she had to take care of her mother who is ill with cancer.

But fate and a kitten brings them together again, meeting for the first time in years. The connection is clearly still there between them, but will Jess be able to forgive Gina in her time of need? As the change in seasons brings color to the autumn leaves, will it also bring a drastic change in both of their lives?

In this heartwarming, steamy novella Edie Bryant takes the reader on an emotional rollercoaster toward happily ever after.

Completely unrealistic, with an unhealthy relationship between character that does not respect boundaries, and another who is manipulative. And although I skipped it, the few sentences that I glanced revealed an unrealistic and poorly written and very possibly unsafe sex scene.
Truly reads as some young adolescent first shot at soulmate-fanfiction-turned-published-original-work.

I really like the premise and the execution of some early scenes. The scenes where Gina really lays it all out to Jess about how shitty she was to her was great. Leading up to that scene I was worried that there would be immediate forgiveness. It was a good scene because Gina wasn't kind about any of it. Having been in her shoes before(I had someone I loved cut me out before. The person never came back though) I found the outrage very realistic.

What I don't find realistic or at all believable is the rest of the story. Maybe I'm just extremely cynical but I don't see anyone recovering from that. It would be different if jess' reasoning was different or if Jess hadn't responded to Ginas feelings at the time. As is it, it felt like the kind of thing no relationship could come back from. The amount of time is also very relevant, 10 years with no contact is way too long for any of Jess' excuses to make sense.

Even beyond that, even if I could buy into them going out again, they didn't build up to it. An out of place sex scene is what starts it up again, when everything prior to that was pretty slow, suddenly the pacing kicks into overdrive. Then its time skip after time skip before the end and none of it feels believable because none of the foundation has been laid out. Again, even if I buy that they could potentially fix their relationship(which I don't) its still an issue that they rush the second half of the story.

The premise is interesting enough that I want to see someone else do it better. But man I did love that scene where Gina rips her a new one about running away.

Too fast

It wasn't a bad concept for a story, I love when there's the option of forgiveness and second chances. People aren't perfect. But boy was this too rushed. It needed fleshed out and more pieces to the puzzle that were left out. Other than that, not bad for a free ebook I found on Amazon.

Got from Unlimited library. Glad I did not pay for book. All I can say is Good Grief. Apparently written by a horny 18 year old for a horny audience that loves reading graphic sex. Did not finish. Will not read any of the other of this author's books

I thought this was a really cute love story, I think it could have fit a little more into it though.
Parts of it felt a little bit rushed.

After leaving work one day, Gina finds a lost kitten under her car, and calls the phone number on its collar, only to discover that it belongs to Jess, her long-time best friend who suddenly left town ten years ago after Gina confessed she had romantic feelings for her. Turns out Jess had those same feelings, and they confused and frightened her, and then she felt too ashamed to reach out again. But now she's back, to help care for her mother who has cancer, and the two clear the air and discover that time hasn't diminished their feelings.

This could've been a really nice romance with a deeper feel for the hurt Jess caused and more touching as they tentatively reached out to each other again.

NOTE: the blurb commonly seen about this book mixes up the characters' names.

Not a book I'd recommend. Frankly only read thr book because I got it for free. The beginning of the relationship spoilt the character arc.

Well, all I can say that this story is lacking in starts, middles and ends. It's short. And that is all.

A SWEET ROMANCE.😍
A tender tale of how misconstruing the actions someone makes can,and generally does cause undo pain, also ill feelings. For these two they were very fortunate. There emotional bond was equally felt. Which made the resolution mendable. Allowing them to heal and move forward.
LOVING CHERISHING LONG-LASTING LOVE 💘.

Too fast!

Again, another book of Edie’s is too rushed. This is the second book I have read by her. Very disappointing. Will not try another book of hers again.
