In a powerful, smoldering novel from the bestselling authors of the Caldwell Brothers series (“Bad boy heroes to die for!”—Tracy Wolff), two tortured souls team up to overcome the past, finding the courage to heal . . . and to love.
Jason “Cobra” Stanley was born to fight. With a father like his, he had to toughen up just to survive. Now Cobra tries to take out all of his frustration, all of his anger, and all of his pain in the MMA cage. But after he receives one too many hits to the head during a match with Jagger Caldwell, the cycle of violence comes to a screeching halt. Cobra wakes up in the hospital, under the care of a nurse whose blond hair shines like a halo—and whose pure heart touches him on the deepest level.
Lorraine Bosch is a fighter too. Having escaped from her own controlling father, she prides herself on remaining professional, despite the chaos of the ER. But Cobra is the ultimate distraction. Lorraine knows she should run away screaming from his rippling muscles and shattered psyche. And yet how can she deny this broken man a second chance—especially since she knows exactly what he’s been through? Lorraine’s used to playing guardian angel. Now it’s her turn to find heaven in Cobra’s arms.

Well I will just say that the start of this book ticked me off and I almost dnfed it, but I read a few reviews from my goodreads friends that said it got better and I held on. And while it wasn't a great read for me I didn't hate it , and it did get better as the book went on. Making this a 3 star read for me. I did have one really big problem with this book and it really tainted the story for me. I seen the cover of this book on Netgalley and read the blurb and it sounded good. No where in the info I seen on this book does it say it's dark or that there is domestic violence in it.
NOTHING! See I read Dark romances and I love dark romances and even some dark not romances, but I know ahead of time it's gonna be dark. I am mentally prepared for the dark. I'm in the right mind set. See I am more lenient with men in Paranormal, Biker, BDSM, and Dark romances. I hold them to a different set of rules and overlook behavior's I would not ever tolerate in real life or in other romances. If I didn't I would never be able to read those genres.
Don't tell me I'm getting a love story about a sexy MMA fighter and give me an asshole that hits his girlfriend, and expect me to love or even like him. WTF? Even in Dark romances the dark is normally not from the hero beating on women. Jason/ Cobra our hero, just a few pages in, and he is beating, and choking his gf (who is not the heroine). The gf wasn't much better either. She sits there provoking him by telling him she is going to have sex with other men(mainly a man he hates), flips out on him saying he is cheating all the time, and of course she hits him too. Sorry but there just is no redeeming the hero that repeatedly beats his gf. After reading that I've got blinders on the whole book, and it colored the way I looked at everything.
Every time he told Lo he would never hurt her like that, I didn't believe him. And I know I rolled my eyes and popped off with snarky comments every single time. I would have been able to forgive him if he had just hit his ex gf just once realized how messed up and toxic that relationship was lefted her and then changed. But for 3 years nope sorry that's just too much to swallow. I also had a hard time connecting to Lorraine(Lo) the heroine at all. Lo just confused me. She was straight crazy. She had some multiple personality disorder going on. She would be herself then she would be her dead twin sister Heidi(Hi). It threw me off. Especially the fact that she had been wearing a wig to look like her sister and sleep with her sister's bf Ryan letting him pretend she was Hi. That was just plain gross. I get that "bad things", Really "bad things" happened to her but damn. It was hard to relate to someone a banana short of a fruit salad. Just sayin'!
I will say that the last 25 or 30% was good. He didn't seem angry and violent, her crazy just dried up and they had lots of hot sex. Hot sex always helps! I did like the fact that I didn't know who the bad guys was until they were revealed towards the end. And I thought the HEA was very very sweet. I just wish the author would have left out the domestic violence or not taken it to that extreme(3 years). Over all not a bad read even with the problems I had with it.
A hero who used to beat his ex-girlfriend and a heroine who posed as her dead twin sister and slept with her boyfriend so that he would assume she was her!
3.5 Intensely Told, Intensely Found Stars * * * 1/2 It's Live!!! If you are looking for a light, boy meets girl, both fall, have a hiccup in the relationship and then all ends well story...This is not the one. But if you are up for two main characters who have been traumatized, then destroyed some more and finally are quasi functioning adults meeting and developing what would be called a relationship... then this could be in your wheelhouse.
Visibly Broken by by Chelsea Camaron, M.J. Fields is a tale of childhood abuse by a powerful, political father on a son and how it can twist the mental psyche to the point where fighting and pain are needed in order to level out. The love interest also is broken. She is a victim of two major crimes... one killing her family, the other destroying her soul.
Under two different circumstances, these two meet. First as a nurse, caring for this wounded underground fighter.... and then when both are in a club where anything goes....It is during this meeting, our fighter sees angel blues eyes reminding him of the nurse from the hospital....But the woman in front of him doesn't look anything like her or act like her....
This angel/woman is full of secrets....She is driven to revenge for the loss of her family... and has been plotting and following those she thinks were involved. She lives a very controlled life... if you can even call it that... and when she bumps into our guy at the club.... all of her plans become turned around....
This tale has so much plot and intrigue, it is important to pay attention. It also has a man who once he has taken the idea of protecting his woman... he will do whatever it takes. He also is driven to please her and his needs fully... Luckily they both connect on a level which works for both...rough, hard and strong....but also caring and loving.
This is not an easy peasy story but the wrap up and meaning behind all of it is important.
Home is not a place or a group of people to be related to...Home can be found in the heart of the ones you love... and it can make everything worthwhile in the end....making your Home safe, secure and loving.

Yeah, that beginning was all kinds of twisted messed up f*ckery. It took a long while for Jason/Cobra to grow on me...can we say till the last couple chapters. I stuck through it cause I wanted to know what had happened to her and who the bad guy was. Plus I was hoping there would be appearances by the Caldwell brothers. There was lots of sex, but it sure wasn't pretty most of the time. The epilogue was beautiful and that part I really loved.
Visibly Broken was the spinoff standalone from Chelsea Camaron and MJ Fields’ Caldwell Brothers series.
This was a tough one going into it because we learned about Cobra through the series as a physical abuser to his girlfriend. To get Cobra’s story, the abuse has to be a part of the story, which I wasn’t looking forward to, so I’ve put this book off for more than a year. However, I’m glad I finally tackled it and gave it a chance.
Jason “Cobra” Stanley was an underground fighter, city government worker and secretly abused son to the city’s Mayor. He was just free from a toxic relationship were both had anger and violent tendencies. He had tons of baggage and it was an emotional tale.
Lorraine Bosch was the surviving member of her family from a horrific tragedy. She was alive, yet she was living in a prison of her own making....until the night she met Jason.
Visibly Broken was told primarily from a dual POV with a third mixed in, adding mystery to the plot. The storyline was dark and troubling, mixed with suspense and hope. Although the relationship building was the foundation of the book, a main focal point was the unsolved brutal murders of Lorraine’s family. Even with the difficult storyline, I enjoyed it and couldn’t get through the pages quick enough. It was emotional, yet also healing.
As to the characters, I fell in love with both Jason and Loraine. I was emotionally tortured by both at times, but was pulling for them at every turn.
No spoilers here, so no more about the plot. However, it was a fairly quick read, emotional and entertaining. The authors said it best at the conclusion: “Your past does not define your future. Fight to move forward and let nothing and no one stand in your way. Nobody can beat you down. You have the fight inside to overcome all obstacles in your path.” I enjoy the works of this duo and hope to see more in the future.
When I saw that this book was about Jason, who we learned about in Jagger's story, I was glad to see he was going to get his HEA. We learned he had an abusive father growing up and that he was stepping into his fathers shoes. I really wanted to see him heal and become the better man with the love of his life. We do get that in this story, but not before we get an up close picture of his volatile relationship with Missy. This book could be a trigger.
I've never read a book where the H was being abusive. In the past yes, but not in the present. I have to say, it made it hard to want to read this story at first. The girl he was abusive too, was just as abusive to him and their relationship was very toxic. It doesn't make it better or right, just not an easy thing to read about.
I give props to the authors for taking on such a sensitive subject. It will definately cause some controversy. The good thing is he splits with Missy in the beginning so we don't have to read this violent relationship for long before he meets the woman who helps him heal, however, she had a lot of issues herself.
I admit, I'm a bit conflicted with how I feel about this book because of Jason's abuse against his ex but I can say, the authors did redeem him to me by the end of the story.

“Life had broken her, just as it had broken him. But when they got together, their pieces became whole. And they continued on their journey, together, mended as one.” ~Steve Maraboli
Sometimes you read a story that slowly seduces you where you are partially immersed, unsure what to think, unsure whether the book will become a page-turner. Then, like a fighter on the mat, the book packs a punch to your gut, grabbing you when you least expect it, a move you did not see coming. Visibly Broken by Chelsea Camaron and MJ Fields started as a slow seduction but progressed to a frenzy of feels in a soul-searing suspense that rapidly bled its way from the ring to my heart.
Before I began the Prologue, one paragraph told me that this book would break me…and oh did it leave me broken.
“To break the chains that bind me, I must first acknowledge I am damaged. To change the patterns started long before me, I must first find the power from within to hold back. To be the man I want to be, I must break down the man today.”
Just 10 percent in and this story sunk itself into me where I felt the emotion and the energy entrancing and engaging me. My feels flowed fast and furiously as Visibly Broken began to beckon to me like a fight in the ring. I had to watch and wonder what was going to happen next. The feels pounded from the pages, searing my soul, brandishing my brain and hitting my heart as Visibly Broken bound itself to me.
Jason ‘Cobra’ Stanley is a blond, green-eyed, inked, tall, and muscular corporate executive by day and MMA fighter by night. Growing up as the rich Mayor of Detroit’s son, Jason was scrutinized with every move, abused for every mistake, and tortured endlessly by a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He takes his anger and angst out in the ring, punch by punch.
“It’s not about the money for me; it’s not about the title. Fighting for me is…conquering my opponent and conquering my past. Every win is a win I never had as a child.”
Gritty and gruff, rude and rough, I did want to like Jason…but I did. Abused all of his life, toxic relationships are all Jason knows. The broken boy shone through the broken man, and both broke me. I wanted to wrap my arms around him and never let go.
At the hospital for injuries, Jason meets the beautiful blonde and blue-eyed Lorraine ‘Lo,’ Bosch, his angel. An angel with a heart of gold. An angel who haunts his head. An angel haunted by a past more painful than his. An angel who has seen the devastation of the devil and is a fighter too.
“Somehow, Jason sees through it all. He sees me. Somehow, this man who calls himself Cobra can read me like a book.”
I bled for both the hero and the heroine, two broken souls who should be one.
“I need to walk away, but every time I look in her angel eyes, I’m drawn to stay. Those eyes keep me wanting more than I’ve ever wanted in my entire life.”
Their chemistry is passion. Their chemistry is pure. Jason and Lo are perfect together. They are each other's air. Each other’s hope. Each other’s salvation. Dark mixed with light, these two troubled souls must break free from the barriers of painful pasts that hopefully won’t break them again.
“I know in some way, shape, or form, I am going to scar him, too.”
Visibly Broken broke me in the best way in a twisted tale of guts and glory that gripped every piece of me...and I LOVED EVERY MINUTE. This fighter romance fought its way into my heart, hitting it hard, where it beat for these broken and beautiful characters who quickly became a part of me. My heart raced as this romance became my rush. A shiny gem filled with dark and light. Angst and anger. Love and hope. So many feels. Feels that flowed through me. I FELT EVERY WORD I READ.
I FELL IN LOVE with the intoxicating and intense Visibly Broken, a romantic suspense that seduced me so smoothly that I did not suspect to fall as deeply as I did. I was left wondering why I waited so long to meet one of Chelsea Camaron and MJ Fields’ spellbinding and soul-searing stories. I can’t wait to meet the rest of this series’ fierce and feel-inducing fighters who are already calling to me. Visibly Broken broke me in the best way, and I can’t wait to have my soul shattered again by this dynamic duo of amazing authors.

REVIEW: 3.75 stars--VISIBLY BROKEN co-authored by Chelsea Camaron and MJ Fields is a stand alone, contemporary adult, dark erotic romance story line focusing on MMA underground fighter Jason ‘Cobra’ Stanley, and nurse Lorraine ‘Lo’ Bosch. VISIBLY BROKEN is a spin off from the authors’ CALDWELL BROTHERS series with cameo appearances by Jagger Caldwell and the love of his life Tatiana Rand. You do not have to have read the previous series to understand the current story line. We were first introduced to Jason in JAGGER.
NOTE: VISIBLY BROKEN contains graphic scenarios of abuse, violence and murder, and therefore, may be triggers for some sensitive readers.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Lorraine and Jason) VISIBLY BROKEN focuses on the resulting damage and after affects of violence and abuse. Jason Stanley is an MMA fighter who ‘needs’ the arena to work off the violence that has controlled most of his life. Lorraine Bosch is a nurse, who despite the atrocities she deals with every day in the ER is unable to move on with her life since the violence that shattered her existence two years earlier. Meeting Jason Stanley on the job finds our heroine caught between the subsistence that marks the h*ll in which she continues to live; a need for vengeance against those who obliterated her world, and the pull of a man who could destroy her entire life. What ensues is the building relationship between Jason and Lo, and the ongoing need for betrayal and revenge.
Jason Stanley grew up in an abusive household; a father whose political aspirations and need to control were marked by power and abuse. Jason believes himself to be a monster- the product of a lifetime of violence and regret. Lorraine Bosche is barely existing in a world dominated by the past; a past that continues to surface every time she goes through the front doors of the family home.
The relationship between Lo and Jason is intense; Jason’s need to protect Lorraine Bosch comes at a time when his previous relationship has all but destroyed his heart and his soul- a co-dependent, physically aggressive, abusive and toxic relationship that will have some readers squeamish with the domestic violence. I have noted the triggers earlier in my review but I want to reiterate that the relationship between Jason and Missy is volatile and the reader is up close and personal in the first few chapters. The graphic $ex scenes are dramatic, energetic and sometimes angry, but our heroine is NEVER the victim or recipient of Jason’s mercurial temper. Lorraine Bosch is able to soothe the monster within.
There are a number of secondary and supporting characters including Jason’s ex Missy- a violent piece of work who pushes our hero one too many times; Jason’s ‘right hand man’ and sparring partner Brock; and Jason’s father Mayor James Stanley whose reputation is dirty and hard. We are introduced to Dr. Bennett, his son Ryan, and his step-daughter Rochelle. Lorraine’s history and past are connected directly to the Bennett family- a family that our heroine once considered her own.
VISIBLY BROKEN is a gritty and raw romance with dark and dangerous undertones. The premise is disturbing, controversial and dramatic; the characters are broken, colorful and charismatic; the romance is passionate and intense- a bit of insta lust/love between two people caught up in the violence of an ugly and distressing world.
"Visibly Broken" , absolutely, it nearly broke me, be warned this story is on the dark side. With warnings aside I still give this one a solid three and a half stars. Jason Stanley, son of the mayor has grown up with all sorts of opportunities , but oppurtunities mean nothing when your abusive father uses you as his fighting bag. Now a grown man and living with his girlfreind Missy Jason is determined to break the cycle of abuse. Jason" Cobra" Stanley has turned to MMA fighting to help release his steam and help to keep the abuse out of his home life , which for the most part he succeeds . Most part being the operative words, because his girlfriend Missy well , she just is trouble on two legs, Missy is aware of Jason's short fuse and his desire to never touch her I anger but when she does not get her way she purposely pushes his buttons , leading to a scene or two were Jason's upbringing comes in to play. On one such night Jason storms out to a underground fight that lands him in the hospital, badly beaten, unconscious and alone . He awakes to a beautiful blonde angel, Lorraine Bosch sitting at his bedside , but when they start pushing for information , his name, address and insurance he beats a hasty retreat, pain of no pain and also makes the decision that after three years he and Missy are over, they are just to toxic for one another to spite loving her . Jason, can not get his angel from the hospital " Lo " out of his mind , but he is no good for someone like her , so when his frustration level reaches a high he heads to the Lions Den A local BDSM club he belongs to in hopes of some play time. Jason is not so much into the BDSM aspect as he isinto the total control, however he finds it easy to loose his own Control when a women with Dark hair and similar eyes and facial features to his " Angel" shows up. Sex against a wall is suddenly on the menu for the evening, but this beauty is still distracted and watching another man while having sex with him. When the women takes off Jason follows intent on giving her a piece of his mind only to get a surprise, the dark haired beauty turns out to be his Blonde angel in disguise . "Lo" has just as many issues as him, if not more. Lorraine has had tragedy hit close to home, one that has her living in fear most of the time , except when she is taking on the alter ego of her twin sister Heidi. Everything about this women screams for Jason to protect her, be with her, so much so that after a incident at her home he moves her in with him. He tells her she should run from him, that he is no good, but Lo insist he will never hurt her and actually he is overprotective of her. Together these two become a support system for each other , Lorraine is a calming influence on Jason, amongst other changes he wonders about. "When the hell did I become a cat man? I have lots of love for pussy. I love a variety of pussy: dark pussy, light pussy, even multicolored, tattooed pussy. I have had smooth pussy and fuzzy pussy, but never did I think I would get up in the morning and worry about feeding pussy rather than feasting on pussy." When it comes to Lo, Jason will do anything for her and the same can be said about Lorraine for Jason. Though this story starts out dark and the mystery they unravel for Lorraine is dark and sad, the story line holds your interest , the sexy times abound and the mystery is solved all leading up to an HEA. This book should be tagged with a disclaimer of child abuse and domestic abuse, and I was totally surprised that it wasn't. I must admit when I started reading this before I was even finished with the prologue I was second guessing my decision to continue it, but I have only done that once in all of the years I have been reading so I pushed myself to continue. While this will not be a 5 star read or even a 4 star read for me I did start to get into it because of the way things progressed. But because of the way I felt in the beginning I honestly couldn't say that I really liked, but I did like it.
Jason "Cobra" Stanley was raised by an abusive father and a mother that turned a blind eye to what was happening. Unfortunately Jason learned to be quick with a punch so when his girlfriend Missy provoked him she would get slapped around...the part that really confused me is that she provoked him knowing what would happen almost as if she got off on it. I hate to even say that because it's not something I can wrap my head around but that is the way she came off. Anyway, Jason finally has enough of their twisted relationship and calls it off. Step one in the right direction!
In walks Lorraine...WOW, totally crazy past has her living a double life and not like an undercover agent double life, like she was two totally different people with the complete knowledge of what she was doing so it wasn't as if she suffered from some Dissociative Identity Disorder (Multiple Personality Disorder) nope she willing lead her life that way. Yes it did come out of a traumatic occurrence in her life, but once again her past leads me to tag this romance as DARK
How can these two broken people make a relationship work? I have no clue but they do seem to balance one another out if that is even possible. I swear I finished this book a few days ago and I am still having a hard time coming to terms with some of it.

DNF at 22% but I was close to putting it down even sooner... after the first chapter when the hero was shown in a very toxic relationship with his current girlfriend (NOT the heroine) and he hit her... to be honest, I expected something different after reading the synopsis, but this story turned out to be something I did not enjoyed... and since I have tons of other really great books on my tbr #BookMountain I decided to abandon this one... because even after somehow getting over that first chapter, I wasn't rooting for the main characters and the story didn't really catch my attention... I think that it's just a matter of my personal preferences because, again, I expected something totally different from this book... so hopefully some of you will enjoy it much more than me... but it's just not my kind of a book #SorryNotSorry :)
I love these two authors individually...put them together and it is explosive drama, romance and a harsh reality of people living on the edge of their sanity. Cobra was a tough fighter and a broken soul inside...having endured so much in his youth that it was heartbreaking. Lorraine "Lo" was a beautiful and tragic girl suffering from what I would call "survivor's guilt" and trying to get through each day with a set routine of safety and comfort. The fight scenes were brutal...and I'm not talking in the ring...but what happens between a man and a woman when they are really messed up in the head. Lo and Cobra calmed each other's inner beast and when the calm becomes a tornado again, it takes the two of them working together to make things right in the end. This was not an easy book to read. It was sad, painful, brutally honest and tragic but I really liked the harsh slap in the face. Read it if you want a challenge and appreciate stories that will test you.
***** 4.5 ***** "taming the beast with love" stars
**I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.**
Visibly Broken is an interesting read. This is unlike any other book in the Caldwell Brothers series. Both characters in Visibly Broken come from horrible pasts. Jason has a hateful abusive father. As much as he's tried Jason is following in his father's footsteps. His relationship with Missy is toxic and completely unhealthy for both of them. They feed off of each other. She pushes his buttons knowing what the outcome will be. He's promised not to lay his hands on her but they both know it's a promise he can't keep.
Lorraine/Lo is on her own after her family was murdered. She's the sole survivor, which leaves her with immense amounts of guilt. She meets Jason after he is brought into the emergency room after an underground fight leaves him unconscious. Their paths cross again in the most unexpected way.
Visibly Broken seemed to bounce around for me, it came across as very choppy. I was intrigued by the story line but some parts left me scratching my head. Definitely an interesting read.
Visibly Broken wasn't what I expected but I enjoyed it nevertheless. I was a little discombobulated in the beginning as it's listed under the categories of sports and young adult but I felt like I was reading an episode of Dateline.
Jason grew up in a violent environment feeling unloved and unwanted. This caused him to grow up in unhealthy relationships. Despite being brought up with rage and anger there was a man with a good heart He knew he had to break this mold when he met Lorraine.
Lorraine is a lost girl trying to find her way after tragedy struck. After seeing Jason "Cobra" in her ER she is immediately drawn to him. Jason helps Lorraine break out of her past and help her to heal and find a better future.
There are some predictable plot points but I thought they are easy to over look. It was fast paced and kept me reading.

This was one seriously huge mind@_(?. I loved it. Tough topic to discuss, but written so well. At first, the new additions of the players was a DNF waiting to happen. Then, I realized what was going on -- and this is just amazing after that.

After reading Jagger from the Caldwell Brothers series, I knew that I had to read Visibly Broken after having my interest piqued about “Cobra”. MJ Fields and Chelsea Camaron's writing absorbed me into their dark, fascinating world, dragged my heart through the tumultuous feelings of the characters, brought me into the light and left me pleading for more! If I thought that Tatiana and Jagger had me spellbound, Jason and Lorraine rocked my world and kept me riveted. They were hot, mysterious, and beautifully flawed in ways that had me heart and soul.
I began falling for Jason Stanley aka “Cobra” in Jagger when he rescued and formed a special relationship with Tatiana who he affectionately calls “mouse”. He is a shining knight in dark armor that had me won over with his damaged soul and I was ecstatic to get to know him more intimately in Visibly Broken and experience the scorching atmosphere between him and Lorraine. Jason grew up with a seriously abusive father and now spends his days working in the voter registrations office and his nights battling his demons in the boxing ring and going home to a toxic already dead relationship. Soon he finds himself walking away from Missy, injured and in the care of a beautiful blonde angel. Can he start his love life anew with a woman who has a shattered past and a shaky future?
Lorraine Bosch has spent the last few years in bone chilling fear and suffering from a tragedy that robbed her of her loved ones. She spends her days working as a nurse at Henry Ford Hospital emergencry room and her nights living in terror locked in her house all alone. That is until a battered fighter comes crashing into her life and has her coming from behind her locked doors and ready to live life again. “Lo” is fierce, twisted, and out for vengeful justice. She becomes more multifaceted and fascinating with every chapter. She is a heroine worthy of sympathy and admiration.
Chelsea Camaron and MJ Fields deliver another tormented, sizzling couple that grabs readers hearts and boils our desire. Lorraine and Jason are scarred, troubled, and erotic! I highly recommend Visibly Broken for a darker tale with a brighter ending and all the emotional feels and sexual tension that a reader could ever ask for. Step into the ring with “Cobra” and Lorraine and be ready to feel all the punches, the turbulent push and pull, and smell all the sweat and passion that transpires between these two!
Holy freakin shit! These two ladies are a bad ass pair. I don't know if I can find the right words for this review. The book was so freakin amazing!!!! I was so sad when it ended. Although the ending was amazeballs I wanted more. I loved the book that damn much.
Lorraine is a messed up little chick. Granted she has every freakin right to be. Her family is gone and she has no one. Only shes on a revenge mission and damn anything that get in her path. Shes fierce. She loves deeply and once youre in well youre in forever. She may be damaged and a little messed up, but shes freakin awesome. Sweet, kind, and caring. She works hard and wants to LIVE. Not just exist. That changes when Jason collapses into her life. She found someone that wanted her for her. Not someone else. This is exactly what the girl needs! Not only does she find him but she also finds herself. Shes so accepting and loving. Like I really just wanted to hug her and tell her bless your ever loving heart!
Jason. HOT FREAKIN DAMN!!! This man is on fire!! Ladies he is guaranteed to melt those panties and leave you shifting those thighs. Only at the first part of the book I really wanted to nut punch him. Hes just as damaged as Lo, but hes sooo much darker. He has to fight to release those demons. When they need to come to play he has to have that release. I get that. Sometimes a person just needs an out. Well, now he has a new one. LO. She is what he needs. She accepts him for who he is and will take what he soooo greatly gives. I'm seriously jealous of a fictional character. Jason may think hes evil but hes not. Hes a great man and super super super HOTTTTTT!
I freakin loved this book hard. Full of angst and tension. Never knowing if theres another twist coming. And boy do they come. Lots of them! I was completely in love with this read and all things that come with it. Great authors! They blend so well you cant tell who wrote what. They make an excellent team!
This is one of those reads you will either love or you won't, it's rude, crude at times dark includes an alpha male that is so far from a hearts and flowers kind of guy and at times scenes hold the shock factor but as the plot unfolds no matter what you think it redeems itself with a beautiful hea.
Lo: I'm falling in love with a man who calls me Angel and himself a monster.
Lo is a nurse, first meets Jason when he comes into the hospital after an underground fight.
Both characters lead a double life, both characters have secrets they need to share and both have a past they need to move on from and they do this together.
A plot with mystery, told in dual pov's, gripping and hot.
Lo and Jason both need rescuing from the dark memories they hold onto and there world's colide at the right moment in time.
Lo: He calls me his Angel, but I know better. I know he's mine.
3 1/2 stars Visibly Broken starts out kind of dark which is not my usual type of read. But I'm glad I stuck with the book because I loved the way the two main characters were able to help each other heal. This book has a great deal of mystery in it and lots of hot sex. There is a twist that really knocked me for a loop.. I think my jaw almost hit the floor! Jason is the hero of the story and despite being raised in a life of privilege, he's had a really shitty life. One filled with abuse. Lorraine's life is a mess as well. She suffered a tragic incident in her past that even 5 years later she's trying to come to terms with. She's leading a very unhealthy life because she can't let go of the past. When Jason and Lo meet there is a connection but circumstances separates them with no way to get a hold of each other. The storyline is deep. subject matter may upset some readers
I was given a copy of this book for in exchange for my honest review.
"I'm falling in love with a man who calls me Angel and himself a monster."
Wow just wow, this was so intensely fecked up on so many levels! But I loved it and couldn't get enough. I read it nearly in one reading and I would highly recommend it if your looking for a good dark read.
He calls me his Angel, but I know better. I know he's mine.
Knew Cobra from inside was amazing! He is not a I imagined in the Caldwell’s stories! He is nice, amazing, a lover, and a keeper! I fell in love by him!
I am torn on how to approach this review of MJ Fields and Chelsea Camaron’s book Visibly Broken. I liked it, its lead characters, and the story. It's well written. The problem is that feel I need to warn the reader that the story contains a plot element that many consider their "line in the sand.” The story infers that our hero commits physical violence against his previous girlfriend.
Visibly Broken's Jason “Cobra” Stanley is a secret MMA cage fighter at night and the son of Detroit’s mayor, who is an abusive father. Jason had a very violent childhood and has grown up to believe he will become just like his father. He thinks of himself as evil and uses cage fighting and its required training to keep his “demons” in check. He hopes this will relieve any of his violent tendencies in a safe environment. At the beginning of the book, he and his current girlfriend, Missy, have a very toxic relationship and she antagonizes him to hit her knowing it will destroy him psychologically. She succeeds. I understand the need to paint a very dark picture of a tortured hero for the reader, but I wish this could have been accomplished without Jason falling prey to Missy's machinations.
Our heroine Lorraine Bosch also has a violent past. Her parents and twin sister were brutally killed years ago. She is unable to heal from the trauma and is now searching to avenge their unsolved murders. During her day job as a nurse, Lorraine meets Jason after he is injured in a fight. Jason is immediately attracted and drawn to Lorraine and quickly realizes she is damaged and needs to heal. Once he gets past Lorraine’s very tall defensives, he helps her and they find exactly what the other needs in each other. Their relationship builds at a nice pace, and they have great chemistry. MJ Fields and Chelsea Camaron always deliver heated sex scenes.
I actually liked Jason, because he was very protective, alpha-sweet towards Lorraine and knew how to take care of her. If I could block out his actions with Missy, this is an great book. I would definitely recommend Visibly Broken ONLY IF domestic violence and dark subject matters are not deal breakers for you. I wish I could chop out about four paragraphs of the book, because those parts overshadowed the whole experience for me.

1.5 Stars, 3.5 Flames Let me just say first on, going into this book I did not know it was a spin-off series to the Caldwell brothers. Also, I like the idea of this book very much. Everyone loves a tortured soul redemption story. Especially if that soul comes in a six foot plus muscular frame with sexy tattoos running up and down his body. Overcoming the past, facing the demons that haunt someone, finding love and lust in the right person, and avenging a wrongful deed is a story I would read over and over again. But that is as far as good things go.
Reading the pro-log, I thought I was going to like Jason. Then the next page it went downhill from there. Jason seemed borderline abusive even if he says he doesn’t want to be anything like his father. He isn’t really but he has so much rage but enjoys being pushed by his ex. Then he meets Lorraine and he ‘changes’ but secretly hopes she pushes him over the edge. He doesn’t push her physically but sexually and a little bit cruelly. Then there is Lorraine who masquerades as her dead sister to avenge her family. This blew me away as the first chapter she is in she was her own person. It was over-the-top.
Finding out that they all knew the same people and even spent time together was a bit ridiculous. Everything came round full circle, literally. The family that Lorraine felt totally safe with were actually enablers and very interfering with Lorraine’s life. None of the characters were really likable or intriguing. About 40% in I was over it and ended up skimming through the rest. In the end, it was not a book I would re-read or recommend. Visibly Broken did not do it for me no matter how hot some of the scenes were.
I was gifted a copy of the novel from the JeepDiva in exchange for an honest review
I didn't realize when I requested to read this book that it was a follow up to the book Jagger by this same author, Chelsea Camaron and MJ Fields of which I also read and reviewed. I can honestly say that I liked this book, Visibly Broken much more than Jagger.
Jason 'Cobra' Caldwell is all kinds of messed up. He's a real bad guy, but bad guys need love too and therefore in comes to his life Lorraine Bosch a nurse who struggles with her own mysterious past.
Lorraine, more affectionately known as 'Lo' meets Jason in the emergency room where she works to patch up his badly beaten body after one of his street MMA cage fights go wrong. He would like to thank her for saving him but she gives him the brush off and Jason heads home to his girlfriend who continues to push his buttons causing him to fall deeper into his dark side of abuse. He knows beating on women is wrong but Missy has always done this to him because she gets off on his retaliation in a sick way. They're all in a bad way mentally.
Deciding to break things off with Missy, Jason heads to a bondage sex club where he meets up with a third equally hot girl who stirs him like nothing else...and this is where, if you can believe it, things tip into the crazy, wild sexy ride that is Visibly Broken more than they already were. And you will find the ride interesting and memorable even if you think you would never be drawn to this type of story normally.
I just finished reading Visibly Broken by Chelsea Camaron, M.J. Fields a few days ago and I am still not sure how I feel about it.
The book is a well written novel about two people that are (from my point of view) already more than just “broken”.
“Cobra” is dealing with it more or less for anyone to see – using violence as his outlet. An underground fighter who’s family is basically destroying him bit by bit – day by day just by being there. But the other one I think is even worse, because
“angel” is basically living several life’s. A before and an after, her life and … another, the nurse and the ….(spoiler alert). And the downward spiral for her seems to go even faster than “cobras”
Can two broken - basically really broken beyond repair – people really save each other ?
During reading I often wonder where those two were ever going to find a common ground. Because the darkness within and around them just seemed to constantly pile up instead of getting less.
But I could not feel the buildup between them, for me the spark was missing. It felt more like it remained what it was from beginning on “his DREAM of an Angel with blond hair shining like a halo”
Judging from the other reviews I see I am the odd one out here so I think if you feel you like the blurb you should give it a try and then later please comment to me what you felt …
