Teyla Rachel Branton grew up avidly reading science fiction and fantasy and watching Star Trek reruns with her large family. They lived on a little farm where she loved to visit the solitary cow and collect (and juggle) the eggs, usually making it back to the house with most of them intact. On that same farm she once owned thirty-three gerbils and eighteen cats, not a good mix, as it turns out. Teyla always had her nose in a book and daydreamed about someday creating her own worlds. She is now married, mostly grown up, and has seven kids, so life at her house can be very interesting (and loud), but writing keeps her sane. She thrives on the energy and daily amusement offered by her children, the semi-ordered chaos giving her a constant source of writing material. Grabbing any snatch of free time from her hectic life, Teyla writes novels full of mystery, romance, and imagination. She warns her children that if they don’t behave, they just might find themselves in her next book! She’s been known to wear pajamas all day when working on a deadline, and is often distracted enough to burn dinner. (Okay, pretty much 90% of the time.) A sign on her office door reads: DANGER. WRITER AT WORK. ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK. She loves writing fiction and traveling, and she hopes to write and travel a lot more. She also loves shooting guns, martial arts, and belly dancing. She has worked in the publishing business for over twenty years.
Once again Branton has done it again. I have absolutly loved reading this series thus far and cannot wait till the next installement. The book flowed awesome and the story developed beautifully as the story progressed. As I read the book, I saw myself there with all the main characters of course I was routing for them and wanted them to get through all the hurtles that they incountered along the way. I just could not put this down, because I wanted to know what was going to happen next. But alas, the story eneded and I have to say that was only downside for was that it had to end. I cannot wait to see what is going to unfold in the next installment. Great work Teyla Branton!
This book was a great episode in a wonderfully engaging series! This is the fourth book I've read from the Colony Six series. Yes, I know, it's supposed to be book 2 in the series. But I've already read books 0,1, and 3. The great news is that I loved it anyway, and having already read book 3 in now way diminished my enjoyment of this book.
I love the premise of Branton's Colony Six novels, and I love the world she's come up with as a setting. I get a wonderfully vivid picture in my mind when I'm reading her books, and this one was no exception. As is so often the case with books I truly enjoy, I found myself both eager to reach the conclusion yet not wanting it to end. When I did reach the end of the book, there was satisfaction mixed with excitement over where the series will go from here.
I restarted this one about 4 times because I got a bit lost. Finally, I started it and kept my focus on it to figure it out. I could handle sketches, and in order to get visions, you have to pay attention. It was good, I was a bit surprised how far one part was taken. It was surprising to me because of the caliber of writer Teyla is but it was still on the side of the line I could read. It was intense action all the way up to the last word. GAH!
I found this entertaining but annoying in that there was too much exposition in the middle of great tension. I felt myself thinking, just get on with it! I hope that aspect improves with the next book.
I can't wait to read the third and final book in this series. It has a little bit of everything to satisfy the reader. Action, adventure, love, passion and hope. I recommend this series. Happy Reading!!!!
A good second part to this interesting series! I do recommend that they are read in order, for more reading pleasure! I liked the characters & ideas, overall a really good read!
