This is an excellent book that should be made into a Hallmark movie. I loved the characters and how the author developed the relationship between the characters. It's a feel good read that will leave you with a warm glow long after you finish. Logan and Chase are especially great together. I could see this playing out like a movie!
This is my first book I’ve read by this author. I laughed, I cried, my kind of book. If you are a believer in second chances at life, love, and redemption, then this is the book for you. So grab you something cold or hot to drink, settle in because you won’t be getting up until you are writing a review too!
I enjoyed this book immensely, the story drew me right in, grabbing my attention and captivating it the entire book. This is my first book by Irene Onorato, she is a gifted author with a wonderful writing style, the story has a natural flow to it and the characters and storylines she created are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. Her character development is amazing, especially for Chase, I loved how much he grew as a person by the end. I loved uniqueness and originality of this story, it is a wonderful coming of age story with a side of romance. There are three lead characters in this book, Dan Logan, Dory Devereaux and her son Chase, but a good chunk of of the book features Dan and Chase, Dan was spending some alone time on a secluded island when Chase washes or rather crash lands on shore. Chase, a troubled teenager, is stranded there until Dan’s friend return to pick him up. Dan saw that Chase needed an attitude adjustment and he handled him smartly and with ease. Chase’s mother, Dory, is filled with worry wondering what happen to her son. After a scare, she gets the call she has been waiting for and she is surprised what she finds. I loved how everything played out in this book, the story is beautifully plotted and contains a whole lot of heart. There is plenty of drama, angst, heartfelt emotions, new friendships and a possible romance. Irene Onorato, thank you for this wonderfully entertaining story.
🎧📚🎧 And fabulous narration, Dallin Bradford is a talented narrator and voice artist. He did a great job bringing these characters to life, giving each their own voice making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. His portrayal of each character is spot on, he takes each role and makes it his own sounding believable and just as I picture the characters to sound. He sets the perfect tone for the story, captures all of the characters emotions and projects them into this performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the great listen🎧
A memorable story The opening chapters of this book focus on the parallel stories of Dory, dealing with the destructive and rebellious behaviour of her teenaged son, Chase, and Dan, a construction company owner who is struggling to come to terms with recent personal and business-related life-changing events. It is a story of the power of, and need for, positive adult influences, ‘tough love’ and unconditional acceptance, and the importancey of seeking assistance to overcome grief and/or traumatic events. Chase and Dory share a relationship most modern parents of teenagers can probably relate to, and often dread! Dan’s instinctive reaction to Chase’s attitude begins his transformation as he inadvertently helps Chase to achieve a sense of responsibility for his previous, current and future actions, ensuring he develops into a young man any parent would be proud of. Ms Onorato’s writing style is excellent, drawing the reader into the story from the first page. This is my honest opinion of a review copy of this book received via StoryOrigin.
Oh! I loved this one! This is the first book in the Crescent Harbor Series. The storyline is beautifully written, and heartwarming. The cast of characters is amazing!! Dan and Chase are fantastic characters. Dan is handsome, caring, protective, and supportive. Dory, Chase's single Mom, is beautiful, strong, and supportive. The grandparents are fantastic supporting characters. The supporting characters are great! I liked the twists and turns, the adventure, and the little and clean romance by the end. Dallin Bradford did an amazing job with the narration. He has a beautiful voice, very pleasant to listen to. This is a great story, and I enjoyed it a lot. Looking forward for more in the series. I HIGHLY recommend it.
This is not my usual sort of book but I am so glad I took the chance. This is a wonderful story of love and redemption, of loss and courage, strength of character and faith. A Christian book but one that does not go overboard. Chase is a troubled teen with some anger issues and a smart mouth, Dan Logan is a CEO who needs a break, when Chase is shipwrecked on an island with only Dan for company, the two gradually form a father son type bond. Then Dan meets Chase's mother. A super clean romance that will have you laughing and crying in equal measure. The narrator is perfect adding so much to my enjoyment of the story. I received a complimentary copy from Storyorigin and am leaving a honest voluntary review
I received a copy of this from StoryOrigin then decided it didn’t look like my cup of tea so I put off listening to it. When I finally started it I still wasn’t sure about it. Rude goth juvenile delinquent wasn’t my favorite character. Chase grows a lot in this book. The author did an excellent job at showing how tough love and understanding and patience are important to troubled teens. Chase shed his goth appearance and rude persona to become a strong character that was saved both physically and mentally. Dory was a troubled single mom who didn’t really know how to handle her son after his dad’s death. Dan was the perfect hero that will have female readers drooling. I really loved this book!
Saving Chase was a really captivating story. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it! This book is a little different in that the romance doesn’t come into play until the last part of the book. Dan and Dory have a quick sweet relationship before the book ends. Most if the story is Dan bonding with Dory’s son Chase. Chase has run away and he ends up on an island with Dan. Dan has come to the island to breath after a difficult time at work. Their lives collide, and Chase learns a lot about being a better person from Dan. I couldn’t put the book down!
This was such a good book! This book is categorized as a romance but is more women's fiction. It is mostly about an angry 16 year old boy who lost his father at a young age and gets in trouble with the law. His mother takes him out of state for fear of him being taken away from her. He feels she would be better off without him and runs away. He gets into a dangerous situation which leads him to analyze his actions & behaviour and starts to turn his life around. The characters, especially Chase, were realistic and relatable. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
My take away from this book: Our youth need fathers/men in their lives. No more man bashing. Women, lift up your men. They have a major role in God's order. God's plan.
Saving Chase is well written. A heartfelt story, coming of age, with a little romance. It could be a movie. It is that good.
I was gifted an Audible version of this book from the author through Story Origin. Dallin Bradford, the narrator, presented this story beautifully. He's easy to listen to with a voice to match the characters. 5 stars for him as well.
The story reminded me of a Hallmark movie. It is clean and wholesome, a feel good story, with human errors and redemption. In this story, you can see the Chase’s personal growth throughout the story. The story has plenty of emotional tugs, angst, and drama. My interest was not captured by the story, and I had a hard time staying invested, regardless it was a good story. The narration was well done. I received a free copy of this audiobook, and am voluntarily leaving my review.
Just what I needed to get my mind off this crazy summer and the things going on in the world around us. I thought the relationship between Dan and Chase was great. Also how Dory's relationship with her in-laws was better than that with her own parents. All in all, a great book. I look forward to the next one in the series.
A teen in trouble almost hit bottom, the bottom of the ocean, not once but twice. A CEO had his buddies drop him off on an isolated island to get away from it all to fish in solitude for a few weeks, but ends up rescuing the teen in more than one way. Then he meets his mother.
Chase is sixteen but in a lot of trouble. His mother, Doris, left their apartment in Massachussets and drove them to Crescent to avoid juvenile detention. Can almost drowning bring him back to life? Dan will save him from death and made him realise what's worth in life. A second chance at happiness. Great audiobook and great narrator.
I listened to this book several times from start to finish. Because I wasn't drawn by the story. So each time I listened, I caught more details that I missed from the last time. Saving Chase could definitely be a Hallmark channel story. There were funny moments in the story... because of how Chase responded sometimes. Just a typical teenage boy. The narrator deliberated those moments well.
This book is a who saved who, did Dan save Chase or did Dory save Dan, who did Chase save. This book is a #1 in my books. You cry, you laugh you wonder what next. This book was amazing one I couldn't stop reading. If you have a rough teen this book is for you. We all are worth saving.
Life slaps some people in the head, but they just manage to shake awake and make the changes needed to win. This story is encouraging, and enjoyable. Lessons learned and Love finding.
Excellent story. Well written with the normal teenager knows whats best for him plot to start but he comes round when he doesnt get the response from the man who he ends up stranded with. The guy actually listens to him, and this make the young lad actually think. Its a sweet ending too.
Loved loved loved this book!!! You will laugh and cry! Irene keeps you on the edge of your seat with true to life characters! You will not be disappointed!!
This was quite an interesting story about saving Chase. Both Logan and Dory are dealing with a lot and reading their journey was very interesting. This was a great story.
Teenage child to a young man with Dan’s help right time and perfect circumstance. So perfect mother’s love! Irene’s book Saving Chase touches reader’s heart.
"Saving Chase" was an enjoyable read by a new-to-me author. I normally don't like books with kids as a major part of the plot because kids are rarely well-written characters (often depicted as behaving and speaking much older than the age they're supposed to be). In this case, Chase was a well-rounded, well-written character. He was a little bratty and immature at times, but what 16-year old isn't? His growth arc by the end of the book was nice to see. It shows that we should think twice about writing people off so quickly. Everyone can change for better, and the author did a good job of showing that.
I really enjoyed the first part of the book when Dan and Chase were stranded on the island, watching the creative ways they would find to survive (survive is a bit a stretch since I still found that part of the story interesting, though.
My only complaint is that I would have enjoyed it more if the time they spent "stranded" on the island had been a bigger part of the story. By the became a fraught-with-drama romance story. The romance wasn't extremely excessive, but I would have liked seeing that as a lesser part of the story.
It was a well-written, well-edited book that was full of inspiration and redemption. Some of the dialogue/narrative felt a bit stiff and unnatural at times, but not enough that it totally detracted from the story.
There were some Christian themes to the story that I enjoyed, which is appropriate given it is marketed as Christian Fiction, but for readers who are searching for deeper, heavier Christian themes, this may not be the book for you. This would be a great book for readers looking for lighter Christian Fiction with just a touch of Christian themes.
