She was making ends meet and trying to enjoy life. But a strange necklace caught her eye at the thrift store. Now, three gorgeous men have stumbled into her life, and she's torn between being terrified and excited. That is until they tell her she is the future queen of the Underworld.
Not only that, but she needs to bond with her hellhounds, the three heads of Cerberus, and protect the Underworld from a goddess who wants it for herself. Forced to face unnatural enemies, and too-sexy-for-their-own-good men, Poppy must choose: keep the life she's always had or take her rightful place as queen.
If she survives.
Daughter of Hades
Poppy never thought her life would get this crazy.
Sexy hellhound guards and being the future queen of the Underworld? She had been happy being a waitress and a freelance graphic designer in Chicago, hadn't she? What she was doesn't matter, that life is long gone now.
Before she can travel to the Underworld, she needs to find three judges that will preside over the souls of the dead. But who are they? Where are they? And how the hell is she supposed to find them?
As she battles agents of Hel at every turn and is confronted with mysterious new enemy Poppy is decidedly on edge. Will she find her judges in time or will her enemies get to them first?
Queen of the Underworld
Poppy’s to-do list might be short, but it's not easy.
1. Make it to the Underworld before the insidious human organization that wants to control it 2. Defend the Underworld the Norse goddess of Helheim 3. Claim the throne
A battle for the Underworld is brewing. Taking the throne might be close to impossible between having a goddess and a secretive human organization bent on the domination of all the realms on her tail. How can Poppy, her hellhounds, and her judges defend it? It doesn’t help when one of her judges goes missing while she sleeps. When they fall under attack Poppy must choose between fighting, staying safe, and searching for her missing man.
After a wild chase through the Underworld, Poppy has three questions. Who can she trust? Who will betray her for power? How many more secrets the Underworld is hiding?
USA Today bestselling author Helen Scott spends her time alternating between fantasy and reality. She likes to think she’d be sorted into Hufflepuff and would have been a Physical Kid from Brakebills. Her days are fueled by tea and cuddles from her four-legged kids and amazing husband in their home in the Chicago suburbs.
When not reading or writing, Helen can be found baking, enjoying a walk in the woods, crafting, or playing video games. She’s a lover of sushi and K-Dramas and is convinced there is magic in the world if you know where to look.
Whether paranormal or contemporary, Helen loves writing sassy, kick-butt heroines and drool-worthy love interests. She's the author of the House of Wolves and Magic series, the Cerberus series, and the Of Demons and Dragons series.
{I received this book free as an Advanced reader copy}
I have read several other Helen Scott books and though this was still steeped in Greek Mythology it was refreshing and different.
Poppy is just a regular 20-someth in ng finding her way. While shopping a a Thrift Store she buys a necklace and All Hell breaks loose ... quite literally!
It is a wild ride with plenty of sizzle ... reverse harem fans will live it! Give it a try!
Daughter of Hades:
I have read several of Helen Scott's books and just when I think she can't possibly out do the last book ... SHE DOES!
I love the characters, world she has built and the struggles and perils she throws t her Charaters! Characters so real you can see what they see and feel what they feel!
Queen of the Underworld:
Oh My Poppy!
This was a well written romp through the Underworld. Got to see some familiar characters from the Siren series and meet a few new charaters.
The characters and world are so well written and colorful that it is like being there while you are reading!
If there are no more Poppy books then I will deal but I wouldn't be sad if there were more!
When I read the synopsis I was very excited to get this. I love a good contemporary mythology mashup, and one featuring anything to do with Hades and the Underworld - I’m there. However this was a watered down version that just lacked in a lot of areas (my opinion only) and it made an interesting premise a tad boring if I’m completely honest.
The hellhounds and the judges had so much potential, but seeing’s how the just ended up ‘bonding’ with the MC it was just a good excuse for some reverse harem time. It go predictable and cliche. Skipped part of the last book - cause I was frustrated with the lack of any meaningful development in the characters - and even the final battle was boring.
