Dana Potter can’t believe her eyes when she witnesses a well-to-do woman stealing from a homeless man in broad daylight! Her town of Pippin, Georgia, is tiny and full of southern charm and hospitality. Why, they’ve hardly had someone litter there since Dana can remember, let alone steal in such a depraved way!
Her curiosity, and her indignation, are piqued as she becomes determined to bring the perpetrator to justice.
Her little investigation quickly turns into something far more sinister. The closer she gets to the mystery woman, the more she begins to suspect that the woman might not be as evil as she once believed. Over the next few days, Ms. Potter leverages her natural busybody spirit to get to the bottom of the real evil out there.
Along the way, she finds herself in situations she never would have imagined: face-to-face with a pistol, hoisting herself into an old sailboat, and reuniting two estranged lovers.
This was a fun little short story cozy mystery set in a small town in Georgia. In spite of its length, there was good character development of Pete (the local homeless man), Dana (the local busybody) and Susan (who is new to town). There was also a good mystery and some action. While I found some of the leeway the police gave to Dana to be unbelievable, it made for a fun little story. I'd recommend to people who enjoy short clean mysteries.
Having lost her partner, she tended to perhaps be a bit more forthright then most people welcomed but she was still a popular member of the small community. When she saw a woman stealing from a blind man begging the street, her blood boiled. Chasing her down was the next problem. When she does so the story she's told doesn't ring true. Involving the local police is next on her list. Can she find out the real story and perhaps make a difference. Is the blind man involved in the story or just a coincidence? Great little read and a wonderful plot that deals with a bad issue with sensitivity and feeling. Loved the characters and the down to earth approach.
Seventy is the new fifty and Liz Turner has written a juicy cozey mystery that gives you a spunky woman in her later years that doesn't take any mistjuf from any one with out trying to right it.A storey that deals with issues of the blind, homelessness, and family abuse , yet humor still finds I'ts way into this compelling little cozey mystery You need to read it to enjoy it. 😊 Kat
Small Town Corruption: A Dana Potter Cozy, by Liz Turner, is a sweet, enjoyable story! Dana is our main character, and she and the rest of the characters work together to get to the truth, and deliver the incredible ending of this book. Truly enjoyable!
It’s a simple fun read. With a little suspense and surprise thrown in for good measure. Didn’t take me long to read. Good for a commute or a wait where you don’t cant get to engrossed in a story.
This was a fun mystery book and Dana was sly as a fox and wise with wisdom. She sees things that others would pass over. I just bought the rest of the series and think they will all be just as good.
This was a short clean mystery. Great story and fantastic characters. Enjoy this author's books since their is no swearing in any of them. Clean and fun to read
