Rate this book
Kalen Hawkins has only two goals — find help for his sister in Nocturne Falls and evade the evil genius hunting them. After almost a lifetime of captivity, he has little trust to spare, even for a sexy elf with a sweet heart and a galaxy of stars in her eyes.

Faunalyn “Fawn” Ayre loves the people and peculiarities of the small Georgia town where every day is Halloween. It’s the perfect place for a nature elf to put down roots and live the life she’s dreamed of — until a mysterious stranger literally crashes into her happy existence. She can’t help but be drawn to the stunningly handsome man who is part fae, part … something else, and entirely too noble.

The last thing Kalen wants to do is draw Faunalyn into danger, but her loyalty and determination are impossible to resist. And she just may hold the key to his heart…and survival.

Born and raised a Jersey girl with easy access to NYC, I was never short on ideas for stories. I started writing when I was 11, and my passion for creating worlds exploded from that point on. Romance writing came later, since kissing gave you cooties at 11, but when it did, I embraced it. Since then, all of my heroes and heroines find their happily ever after, even if it takes a good fight, or ten, to get there.

I currently live in Central Florida with my husband, our four children, and two parakeets. I work part-time as a PCU nurse when I’m not writing or traveling between sports and other activities.

Touched by Her Elven Magic by Kira Nyte

Welcome to Nocturne Falls. Where everyday is Halloween.
From the kindle world of Kristen Painter.

A paranormal romance that reads like a cozy mystery. Fast, entertaining and surprisingly enthralling.
Evil comes to town in the form of a mad scientist in pursuit of two escaped test subjects. Kalen and Vivian are half fae and half vampire and have been in captivity most of their lives. He is naive and adorable.
The only discordant notes were when Fawn shut down her shop to do paperwork. Would a single owner actually close for a “sick day”? I don’t think so.

Excerpt:
“Kalen opened one of the boxes with a flick of magic and stared at the items it held. A burger, fries, and a piece of lettuce, tomato, and onion on the side. His mouth watered and his jaw tightened at the smell of food he’d only seen in movies.
“May I confide in you?”
His voice sounded alien even to his own ears. When he turned his gaze from the food, he noticed Faunalyn’s eyes had softened to a beautiful shade of shimmering lavender-gold. Her brows lifted just a little, and he wasn’t sure if it was pity or concern that touched the edges of her expression.
“Whatever you tell me, Kalen, stays between us. You can trust me.”
Blast that word.
But coming from Faunalyn, he couldn’t imagine the implied promise sounding any more genuine.
He nodded slowly, accepting her word. “I’ve never had a burger before.”
Faunalyn stared at him for a long moment before her lips curled into a smile. “Really?” She laughed and pulled out a chair at the table. “Well, then. What are we waiting for? Howler’s whips up a mean burger, so your deflowering of burger virginity is going to be spectacular.”

This book was another unexpected surprise. It is the fifth one in the Nocturne Falls Universe following A Dragon Speaks Her Name, A Dragon Gambles For His Girl, A Dragon’s Christmas Mayhem from Merry & Bright: A Christmas Anthology (Nocturne Falls Universe) following dragons and their keepers, and The Princes Protects Her Huntsman, which shifts to fae. The previous stories were good, the last one was great, but this one is something completely different, darker, sadder, more emotional, and overall great.
This is a beautiful love story of Kalen, a fae-vampire hybrid and Faunalyn, or Fawn, a fae, after their weird first encounter and Fawn's decision to heve faith in a complete stranger and help him and his sister. Kalen's sister Vivian is a big part of the story, as is Jackson, a nephew of a scientist who saved Kalen and Vivian. All four of them are extremely lovable characters. There is a bad guy in this story, and he is on a completely different level of evil, and he is human, of course. His goals give this story a very dark tone.
The author did a great job of incorporating her story in Nocturne Falls and introducing some of the resident characters, whilst keeping the consistency and atmosphere of the original series. This was without a doubt one of the best stories in the series.
The Nocturne Falls is a great series and the reading order is: The Vampire's Mail Order Bride (Nocturne Falls #1), The Werewolf Meets His Match (Nocturne Falls #2), The Gargoyle Gets His Girl (Nocturne Falls, #3), The Professor Woos The Witch (Nocturne Falls, #4), and The Witch’s Halloween Hero (Nocturne Falls #4.5) in Spell of the Ball Anthology, The Werewolf's Christmas Wish (Nocturne Falls #4.6) in Hex the Halls Anthology, The Vampire’s Fake Fiancée (Nocturne Falls #5), A Vampire's Valentine Surprise (Nocturne Falls #5.5), Miss Frost Solves A Cold Case: A Nocturne Falls Mystery (Jayne Frost #1), The Shifter Romances The Writer (Nocturne Falls #6), Miss Frost Ices The Imp: A Nocturne Falls Mystery (Jayne Frost #2), The Vampire’s True Love Trials (Nocturne Falls #6.5) in Taming the Vampire collection, Miss Frost Saves The Sandman: A Nocturne Falls Mystery (Jayne Frost #3), The Dragon Finds Forever (Nocturne Falls #7), The Vampire's Accidental Wife (Nocturne Falls #8), Miss Frost Cracks A Caper: A Nocturne Falls Mystery (Jayne Frost #4), Miss Frost Braves The Blizzard: A Nocturne Falls Mystery (Jayne Frost #5), The Reaper Rescues The Genie (Nocturne Falls #9), The Detective Wins The Witch (Nocturne Falls Book 10), Miss Frost Chills The Cheater: A Nocturne Falls Mystery (Jayne Frost Book 6), and ever growing series of Nocturne Universe Novels, which surpassed 40 by now. Great world to get yourself immersed in.

Found love when least expecting it. Kalen was so focused on helping his sister, and himself, from being captured again. And what better place to seek for help than a town filled with supernatural or paranormal. Then they came crashing down on a beautiful and kind-hearted elf that determined to save them.

Kalen was the epitome of adorable guy, a guy we need more in this world. He was just so good. And if everybody was like Fawn, war would be the very last thing people would know. I felt so happy reading this book. Yes, the captivity was horrible, but the love prevail was the best.

I was provided a complementary copy by the author / publisher, but this in no way influenced my thoughts or opinions.

I definitely will read more in the series because this was such a fun fast paced fantasy romance book with delightful characters, an engaging story line, suspense and action with a hint of mystery to it.

The two MCs in this one, Fawn and Kalen were so well suited to each other and it was essentially an inter species romance with Fawn being an elf and Kalen half fae, half vampire. I enjoyed learning about how he escaped and then their quest together to stay safe from the evil doctor. Kalen's parentage came as a total surprise.

There were so many different characters in this one and the little magical town felt like a fairy tale especially Fawn's smoothie shop, Magical Mayhem. I kinda now want to read individual stories for every character that was a part of this book.

4 stars.

Naughtiness 2*

Utterly enchanting, absolutely loved this book and cannot wait for the next one,

I loved everything about this book, the characters, interwoven in with existing characters in Nocturne Falls, I utterly loved it and I'm sure I spotted a secondary possible hero and heroine aswell, if yes I hope that stories told very soon by our lovely author.
No I won't give spoilers other than to say its longer than her previous NFU books and being a greedy reader I loved it even more.

Thank you for writing it this awesome book utterly loved it xxx

This is a great book; this book is part of the Nocturne Falls Universe and is written by Kira Nyte. The Nocturne Falls series is written by Kristen Painter and I was so happy that these new books by new authors were asked to write a story in the town. Nocturne Falls is a town that celebrates Halloween every day of the year and also a place that paranormal’s can live and not have to hide what they really are. Kalen Hawkins has only two goals find help for his sister in Nocturne Falls and evade the evil genius hunting them. After almost a lifetime of captivity, he has little trust to spare, even for a sexy elf with a sweet heart and a galaxy of stars in her eyes. Faunalyn “Fawn” Ayre loves the people and peculiarities of the small Georgia town where every day is Halloween. It’s the perfect place for a nature elf to put down roots and live the life she’s dreamed of until a mysterious stranger literally crashes into her happy existence. She can’t help but be drawn to the stunningly handsome man who is part fae, part … something else, and entirely too noble. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author.

My daughter and I love Nocturne Falls. Unfortunately, we’ve read all of Kristen Painters’s books and have ventured out into the other authors.
I do feel that the author here did a very good job, connecting our older, beloved characters into her story, which made the world come back to life for us. There was an end note by the author explaining a bit about themselves, which is why I feel that this book had a lot more innuendo to Fawn and Kalen fantasizing about each other, kissing, and references to possible intimate actions. I would then label this book not to be as much cozy romance as Kristen Painter because my daughter did not like it. And the rest of the books we’ve read these innuendos were not there which is why my daughter and I love reading Nocturne Falls in the first place.
But from my perspective, I do believe that the story was relevant and we are introduced to some other characters and a new race almost even though they’re half vampire. So I did enjoy this book which is why I gave it 4 (I think my daughter would give it a 3). I think that there was a part of the beginning of the book that was of it slower and then the story picked up pace.
I wouldn’t mind seeing more about celestial Faye in future books cause the host two have some pretty cool powers.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

3.5*

So I loved elements of the book, the inability to cope in modern society, the darkness that hangs over them with the threat of the lab. Fawn frustrated me at times as she already knew the power of nocturne falls to protect their own yet didn’t even talk to the sheriff until it could have been too late. Elements of the book were frustrating mainly as the secrets caused more harm and there were times I wanted to just give up. Kalinin is headstrong, overprotective but you can understand it to a degree with where he grew up but his sister seems far more wise than him. Though props to the author the threat of the Dr felt justified later in the book.

This book was less than 200 pages, but was somehow one of the most well-rounded novellas I've ever read. I want to re-read it again immediately. It was SO cute.

I was hooked from the beginning. The plot was even good. So was the romance of it all. For a novella, this was a winner. Also, it does take place in Nocturne Falls. ❤️

❤️Closed door romance
❤️Paranormal
❤️Cozy mystery
❤️Insta-attraction
❤️OG Nocturne Falls characters make an appearance!
❤️Hybrid MMC with no knowledge of his past

I absolutely loved this story. It had it all - mayhem (literally), murder, romance, mad scientist. I could not put the book down. The author did a beautiful job of developing the characters and their relationships with each other. The reader could feel the joy between the hero and heroine. Even though you know they are going to have a happy ending, you'll find yourself anxious to get to the part where you are finally reassured all will be well. Beautifully written story.

I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest
The characters + storytelling were very captivating
Kalen is only focused in saving his sister.
He does not have time for romance.
Fawn doesn't know what to make of Kalen.
The chemistry is there, but is this all there is ?
Will Fawn + Kalen give love a chance ?
The storytelling + the character's build were awesome!
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!

Wow wow wow

I reallllllly enjoyed this book! Written excellently, if that’s not a word than I’m making it up! Truly felt like a Nocturne Falls book! I honestly want Kristen Painter to reference these characters in her later books so that I can hear how they are doing! Only tiny complaint was that birdie wasn’t all into this story! Seriously though, very good story well written and the love development is very believable and genuine! I can’t wait to read more of your books!

Magical, ethereal and enchanting

This is one story that captured my head and heart. It's such a wondrous tale with a special happy ever after. This reminds me of my childhood and all the fae and elves.
I could easily see this as a movie, in similar vein to Twilight, but minus sparking vampires. Yes, it would make an exceptional movie.

Wow and wow. I just loved this book. It was a fun read with well rounded characters and a plot that kept my interest. This story is about Faunalyn, an elf, and Kalen, a vampire-fae. Kalen and his sister have been kept prisoner in a lab their whole lives. Upon escape from the lab, Kalen crashes his car and runs into Faunalyn. That's where the magic starts happening. This is a must read!

For me this was one of my fave Nocturne Falls Universe releases so far. It benefits from having more action than a lot of PNR novels and an interesting, engaging plot. It also has vampires and elves - always a bonus for this nerd!

the author has good ideas but the execution is always poor, every book so far..the same problems.. wrong words used, no depth to the characters and story.. rushed what ever situation. Lacking to much to be not just half of a story...

Excellent!

Most Nocturne Falls books are short and to the point. It is refreshing to have read the well developed plot with its several twists. Keep up the good work!

Two fugitives in the run literally crash into the life of this popular elf. Her magic calms one and draws the other.

Brother and sister experimented on and captive their entire lives breaks my heart. But Karen is gorgeous and strong and the sort of guy we wish more of in this world. I absolutely loved this story, there was action and romance and parts where I just wanted to sigh.
