Groundbreaking, thrilling and eye-opening. The astonishing true story of US Army sniper Robert Terkla, Never Fear Anything, brings a fresh and welcomed perspective to the sniper community. A journey leading us through his struggles to finding a life purpose, to operating covertly behind enemy lines attached to Navy SEALs in Afghanistan. Through the eyes of a surgeon with bullets on the battlefield, Terkla brings an extremely rare view of the hardships these modern day assassins face, while deployed in a seemingly forgotten war.
Probably the shortest most disappointing military books I ever read!!! I read the the whole book less than 45 minutes before bedtime. In the morning I re read the book thinking I missed chapters of something. A sniper that shot 1 guy ??? Come on man !! This book was an absolute joke ! Not even worth $2. Save your money. I'm absolutely dumbfounded how short & boring this book was. I've read hundreds of non fiction military books. This is by far the most disappointing!! Then the author gets medically discharged ? For what?? Nothing ever happened!! Plus he's a sniper & forgets his gun on an Operation.. Come on man.
Nick Erving should be embarrassed having his name associated with this little short story excuse for a book. Nothing but a money grab n for the author. Extremely disappointed in this short story. WOW 😞
Two of my friends and I chose to read together so we could have something similar to a book club. All three of us greatly enjoyed the book. The stories told in this book by Robert Terkla were nail-biting and very entertaining. This book will make your emotions go wild! Robert Terkla is a great author who shows what it is like to be the typical army man who loves America and will die for his country. In combat, he was injured after being deployed multiple times and he eventually left the war alive because of his injury. If you read this book you will be able to read what it is like to have a near-death experience. Terkla has a very clean flow when he writes his books which makes it even more enjoyable to read. "Give fear a name and it becomes just a problem. It's easier to solve problems than it is to conquer nameless fear." (Terkla 40.) This is a quote from the book that changed the way I think about problems and fear. If you read this book, not only will you learn many things about what it is like to be in a war, but you will also learn many life lessons. This quote is based upon the way Robert takes each step in life in his book. I would recommend this book to people who enjoyed "The Things They Carried" I would also recommend this book to people who are unaware of what it is like to have to live through a war and risk your life for your country.
I really enjoyed reading this book because of the intense action and cliff hangers that the book left me on. This book is probably one of my favorite books not only because the author is one of my favorite you tubers, but because I love reading about these kind of stories that involve recent events in war. I have always been interested in the armed forces so reading a book that was written by someone who experienced it first hand is very cool. Some of the parts that resonated with me the most are the stories that he put in the book that he also told on his youtube channel before he wrote the book. This book helps answer the essential question "What does it mean to be American?" because it shows the sacrifices people gave for our country and how we are where we are. "I looked down at my and all I saw was bright red but I still kept firing."(47 Terkla) This is Robert defending himself and his country even though he ripped half the skin off of his hand. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes action or to anyone that wants to read a book that shows how real it gets. I would also recommend this book to anyone who likes to be left on the edge of their seat after every chapter.
I was recommended this book by a friend, and I loved it. The book is a rollercoaster of emotions with many action packed narrative told stories. The book was a smooth read because of how entertaining Terkla is as an author. Terkla is the pinnacle of what it means to be an American. The everyday liberties we enjoy are being protected by Brave men and women like Terkla. To be American means to fight for the less fortunate and to serve and protect our beautiful country. A quote that really struck me was, "Everything you have ever wanted is on the other side of fear."(Terkla 29). Robert had to overcome many of his fears, and I thought this was a perfect quote to describe the whole book. I would recommend this book this book to anyone who has watched LunkersTV on YouTube. This is Robert Terkla's YouTube channel and he talks about many of the stories in the book.
I came to read this book because the author is a Youtuber. I watch his videos and when he released a book about his career in the military I was intrigued. I already read "American Sniper" and liked it, so I wanted to read more military books. I really liked reading this book because the military is very important to me. When reading I could envision the scenes of fighting and war very well. Despite the book being very short, it is very well written. The book is written with NY Times best selling author Nicholas Irving, who writes books about his military career. I would recommend this book to any person who likes military stories. If someone has read books such as "American Sniper" or watched movies such as "The Lone Survivor" or "13 Hours".
Rob goes into great detail about some of his experience while keeping the book moving. Unlike some of the books in this genre. Also if your familiar with his YouTube channel lunkerstv this fills gaps and fully explains some of the stories he's shared on his videos. Plus the stream of consciousness narration spills out just like he speaks typos and all. Good job man as a person on active duty who's seen the military break good strong people I'm glad you got your sh#+ together rock on
The grammer was off and it bugged me a bit. But the story itself has a true ring one that makes you feel greatful for all that you have. As a fellow veteran I can say it was pretty accurate with expressing feelings, inner military jokes, and the idea of being disposable. I love how it was not sugar covered and its raising attention to problems most veterans go though, volunerability. "There is no shame in taking care of yourself. You deserve it." - Robert Terkla
I highly recommend this book if you are interested in the lives of today's Combat Veterans. The book is well written and has the ring of truthfulness and shears light on the difficulties of leaving the military and becoming a civilian with limited civilian job experienc
This book is about Lunkers/ Rob in Iraq and Afghanistan and his experiences. The book is very emotional and reminds us to give our support to our troops. The book is slightly graphic or explicit but that is to get the point across. I would recommend this book to anyone.
My husband found this guy through youtube. Its the first book ive ever seen my husband read. so I figured it had to be good I read it for myself. Im not big into books about war but I like the reading first hand stories about what our soldiers go through. The ending has a great message!!!
Read this after his most recent book, Earned. I enjoy reading the stories from our veterans and taking what is not typically spoken about and taking valuable lessons from them. Great book and Rob is awesome.
I enjoyed the book and it was a really good, very quick read. I was hoping for more when I ordered the book. So, in that aspect I was disappointed in how short the book was.
This book by Robert Terkla really shows the reader what our veterans have gone through to give us our freedom. They go through morbid meetings with the enemies not knowing if they might die and they do it for us. This book really shows the their struggles on an everyday basis for the great country we call the United States of America.
In the book Never Fear Anything by Robert Terkla, it is about Roberts time at war. Throughout the book you can tell how self aware he is. In the beginning it is just him at base talking to fellow warriors. During one of his shifts in the overwatch tower, him and one of the other troops they start getting attacked by Taliban. He ends up getting shot in the hand and didn't even realize where he got hit just that there was a lot of blood. In the middle of the book Robert is in a town where he is at overwatch with a friend. And they make contact with the Taliban again. He goes to reach for his rifle and realizes he forgot it at camp. This is his second time doing it and ends up getting hurt again. This time it was worse and gets medically discharged. He ends up going back to the states and gets into a rough place because he feels like he lost the only thing he was good at and drinks a lot. His wife gets him out of this slump but it takes him a while to find what he is good at again.
