Seven Virtues Ranch #3

Oh Sweet Charity

Rate this book

Do we only get one true love in a lifetime?

Charity already had her one true love, and she’s not looking to find another. So when the ghost of her husband appears in the haunted eyes of another man, she's not sure she wants any part of bringing either of them back to life.

Theo lost his life to a suicide bomber on a mission in Afghanistan; Charity lost her beloved husband the same day. She holds tightly to each and every memory, knowing that she and Theo lived a lifetime of love in the year they had together. She's moved back home to Seven Virtues Ranch where she pours her grief into the recipes she creates, and the meals she serves.

Frank has returned to the hollow and Whispering Hills Ranch next door to recover from a failed reconnaissance mission in the Middle East. They managed to save his legs, but Frank seems to have lost his footing…except when he’s on his horse.

Charity has walked this road before, and she’s not sure she wants to help the wounded soldier find his way back into the land of the living. But she’s forgotten the old adage: The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. And there’s nothing “heartier” than a home-cooked meal at the end of the day….

For fans of Staci Stallings, Cami Checketts, and Brooke St. James. If you love clean and wholesome inspirational romance, you'll love the Seven Virtues Ranch Romance Series.

I loved this book. Charity is still grieving for her husband who was killed serving in the war over a year ago. She decides to just be there and help everyone else instead of trying to move on with her life. Frank is home from the war and is injured and unable to go back. He is struggling with his injuries and possible future as an amputee. He decides to go back to his childhood home that he sold to his cousin. He meets Charity there as she is the chef for the work crew. They both can see in each other the loss they are suffering and that draws them to each other. Will Charity be able to let go of her past to live in the present and think about a future with some else? Will Frank be able to figure out what to do about his foot before it's too late? Will he let Charity into his heart and let others help him or will he remain stubborn and try to do everything on his own?

Charity Goodacre Banner and Frank Flanner have both lost good men to war. Charity lost her husband and Frank lost men in his unit to IUDs. Charity moved forward after her loss by moving back in with her family and discovering her love of cooking. Frank might lose his mangled leg, which in his mind would make his men’s sacrifice even worse. He needs to get away to ponder his dilemma to see what life would be like with or without his leg and that means going home again. Even though Frank sold his family ranch Whispering Hills to Cord Overman who married Faith Goodacre in the first book, he still thinks of it as home. They both have to accept their past and the things they can’t change and open themselves up to new possibilities to move forward together. This was another wonderful sweet Christian romance in this series. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the Goodacre sisters’ stories.

This third book in the Seven Virtues Ranch Romance addresses some of the difficulties of military lives. Third sister in the Goodacre clan is Charity, a widow whose husband Theo was killed in Afghanistan. More than a year later she still struggles to accept her loss and move forward in her life.

Frank Flanner is back from Afghanistan with serious wounds, physical and mental. He chooses to recuperate at his childhood home, Whispering Hills, that he sold to his friend Cord Overman who is married to Faith Goodacre Overman.

The relationship between Charity and Frank builds so well and is handled really beautifully by Ms Doughty. There is a nod to PTSD and a another to the struggles of returning wounded military and the challenges faced to heal as well as to fit in to their former society. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to continuing the series.

Oh Sweet Charity is the third book in the Seven Virtues Ranch series by Becky Doughty and although each book is a standalone story, it is good to read the books in order because each includes additional information about the lives of the family as time passes. I have loved each of the books in the series but I think this one may be my favorite yet as it shares the process of grief and suffering--in a gentle way--as the main characters Charity and Frank are dealing with personal losses due to war. There are no simple solutions but love helps to heal them and give them courage to move forward. My only problem with this book is that I didn't want it to end. I am hoping the author will give us more of their story as the series continues.

I have really enjoyed this series and am looking forward to the rest of the sisters' stories. Charity is a wonderful woman who loves cooking, taking care of others and being needed. She is struggling to find herself after her husband's death, but loses herself in serving others. Frankie is a soldier through and through, but he is also kind, observant, caring and sometimes a little cocky. The chemistry between Charity and Frankie is almost constant and beautiful. I really enjoyed their story and the time they took getting to know each other and fall in love. My only complaint is I felt it ended too quickly. I wish there had been a little more before the epilogue.

Oh Sweet Charity

Charity is a young woman whose husband died for his country leaving her a widow at a very young age. She moved back home to live with her father a six sisters. She loved to cook and so took over the kitchen duties both at home and on her sister and brother-in-law’s property. There she met Frank another vet who was badly injured and had come home to heal and decide what to do about his leg and badly mangled foot. This was a great book and this series is well worth reading by one and all as it describes life on the ranch and away from the ranches involved in the story. This is my review and mine alone. I have enjoyed this series so far, and I think I like this book the best yet. Doughty describes the food in it so well I got hungry :-) The characters are well developed. There's good application of Scripture to several different characters' issues.

If you haven't read the first two books, you really should read them first, as each book adds more to the story for each of the sisters and their families.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This series gets better with each book. It is fun to see the progression of each family member. This one, about Sweet Charity and First Sergeant Soldier Boy, really tugged at my heart. Being a wife of a 20 year Navy Veteran I understand the woes of military life. But, I have to say, as wonderful as these two are in this story, my favorite was truly Jed! His precious heart for his girls, the way he is quiet yet oh so caring, his words to both Charity and Abby...yes, Jed stole my heart in this one. Definitely worth reading! And I highly recommend!

Issues of losing from being in the service in Afghanistan a husband, another mobility. Haunted by her dreams of her late husband she moved back home. Charity found a new venue that she loved, creating recipes and cooking, for the crew at a ranch. While the neighbor, didn’t feel complete, unless riding a horse. Decision to make with his leg, and the reminder of the men who lost more. Attraction, and maybe a way to his heart through his stomach, with her cooking. A good book of moving pass the hurt and lost, and finding a second chance at love. The series is good, can be read as a stand alone.

I have enjoyed all three books in the series. Each one is better than the last one - and the first one was pretty awesome. Becky Doughty has created a wonderful world with the Seven Virtues and Whispering Hills ranches. The characters are amazing.. The sisters paths to love or second loves are not easy but make entertaining reading. If you like sweet Christian romance, this book is sure to please.

Sweet and Genuine
This is the third book of the Seven Virtues Ranch series by Becky Doughty, and it is definitely another winner. This story gently deals with the realities of stepping forward into an unknown future after life has knocked you down, by trusting God is always with you and looking after you.
I am really enjoying this series.
I received a free ARC from the author and have chosen to review it.

What a story!

I, like Charity, fell in love with Frank Flanner. Charity, however, certainly deserved her battlescarred hero. I loved her giving nature and awesome sense of humor. Any book that makes me laugh out loud is going to be on my list of favorites. Add to that the fact that the story is about faith and family, and it is a winner. I haven't enjoyed a series so much in a long while.

Charity can finally process her grief

We first meet Charity in book one, where we learned she was a military widow. Now we find out more of her story. To see her want to protect herself but at the same time help Frank pulls at my heart strings. Thank you Becky for allowing us to see how she is able to remember her husband Theo but to also find new dreams of the future.

I received an ARC of this book from the author and this is my voluntary and honest review. I loved this book about Charity and Frank's love story. They were both dealing with losses and were perfect for each other. The author has a way of pulling the reader in so you feel like you are actually there. I look forward to reading all the books in this series, and I highly recommend each of them.

3rd in the Series and I'm still can't wait to read the rest of the books.

Oh man, I love this new series from Becky. I just wish some of the other characters were in the book more. But no matter what I love the sisters and their relationships with each and their dad. I love how quirky and human they come off the page. Great book k. Quick read.

This book touched so much in me. Very strong characters. I’m a sucker for a happy ending. This book had a happy beginning, a happy middle and a happy ending.

Loved it!!! Again, another enjoyable read that I don't have to skip through to avoid unwanted or descriptive sex scenes. This family is interesting and meeting the new people that come into their lives is a blessing.

Romance

I loved these characters, and the writing was great. This was a very clean romance. I cannot wait for the next one.
I love that this series keeps moving, and never feels like there are any slow spots.
Talk of God wasn't over done, or pushy. Nice job! Very enjoyable book!

Bait and Switch

This was supposed to be about Charity - imagine my confusion when it was about Hope. I did enjoy Hope's story. I do recommend this author, but I can't recommend Charity's book since I haven't read it.
