But he found me. Now he knows my real name, my secrets, and all the details of my sordid past.
I’m out for revenge and no one will stop me; not even the pragmatic Zane Lewis. If he thinks he can silence me with the promise of more mind-bending sex, he’s wrong.
Ivy Matthews is the most frustrating female I’ve ever known. I’ve broken terrorists faster than I can pull information from her sweet lips.
The only time she’s pliant is when she’s under me, or when my mouth is exploring her sexy curves, and then the most exquisite filthy words and breathy moans fill my ears.
If she thinks she can walk away from me, she’s wrong.
Riley Edwards is a Wall Street Journal and USA Today Bestselling author, wife, and military mom. Riley was born and raised in Los Angeles but now resides on the east coast with her fantastic husband and children.
Riley writes heart-stopping romance with sexy alpha heroes and even stronger heroines. Riley's favorite genres to write are romantic suspense and military romance.
Wow! This is a sexy book. Really sexy. I love Susan Stoker books, eventhough I only read one before this spin off. Miss Edwards done this book justice.
I do love the author who can maintain the character toward the end. And Miss Edwards just nail it. The banter is hilarious and commanding at thr same time. I love Zane. He is bossy and demanding. Hot as sin too. Ivy is sassy and smart mouth. Together they exploded.
The plot is standard. And yet I found myseld entertain the whole through. I am looking forward to read Miss Edwards books
RECOVERING IVY (Special Forces: Operation Alpha Series)(Red Team Book 4) by Riley Edwards is a romantic suspense with an off the charts hot and sexy military ALPHA (in all ways!) and a heroine who is living with secrets from her past that she refuses to let destroy her and her quest for justice for her sister. This book is the fourth book in this series, but can be easily read as a standalone. Believe me though, I will be going back to read the previous Red Team books with the other hot team operatives and the women they have their HEAs with!
Ivy Matthews is independent and tough on the outside, but it is a cover. She is working undercover for the man she believes killed her sister. Both sisters were brought up by an abusive, drug-addicted mother and Ivy feels responsible for not being able to save her sister, so she wants revenge for her death.
Zane Lewis is the head of a private firm of elite ex-military operatives. Being the leader, Zane believes he is responsible when they lose a team member no matter the circumstances. He believes his sole is dark and no woman will ever be able to love him, so he satisfies his sexual needs with one night stands with woman who are never repeated.
Zane picks up Ivy in a bar. Their night together is steaming hot and unforgettable. Zane wakes up alone and cannot believe, Ivy left. He is usually happy to get rid of his one night stands, so he cannot figure out why this one is different. Ivy does not have time for a relationship and even though she left nothing behind, Zane finds her. Zane will not be happy until he has all of Ivy’s secrets and can figure out why she alone can calm his darkest demons even as she gives him attitude, sass and fights him every step of the way believing she is not good enough for Zane.
I absolutely love when a hero and heroine, who both feel unworthy of love, find it with each other. Zane is hot, sexy and take-charge with a vulnerability for Ivy that none of his friends and co-workers have ever seen in him before. Ivy has grown up abused and always leaves a relationship before they break it off with her. She cannot believe an honorable, rich and gorgeous man like Zane will want her when he learns her secrets. The sex scenes are explicit and hot, but also show the amount of caring and love building between the H/h.
Ms. Riley has written a believable and beautiful romance for these two wounded souls. The suspense adds to the romance and will make you turn the pages even faster. I cannot recommend this romantic suspense enough. I am looking forward to reading many more books in this series and the fictional world this book is tied to.
Again, one night stand not for me but I will say Zane was the most amazing character ever. Ivy was a strong women she had to be to survive. Zane loved her something fierce and he was just the perfect combination of sweet and protective.
Oh and by the way, all of Riley Edward's characters love with something fierce so its not just Zane but I liked him a lot because he was funny, sweet, caring and sometimes (all the time) sarcastic which is amazing.
Recovering Ivy: Special Forces Operation Alpha: Red Team Book 4 is by Riley Edwards. This series is about Z Corps and the men who work for Zane Lewis. All of them are former Special Forces from the various military sections. Together in teams of six, they are prepared to go anywhere for any length of time to solve any problem that arises in the world. They mainly deal with those involving innocent women and children, drugs, or missing people. Each of the three teams, Blue, Gold, and Red have their areas of expertise; but are always available to help each other out. Red team is the ultimate team and is stationed at headquarters. The others are stationed at distant places. There is only one member of the teams that is female and she is on the Red Team. Zane Lewis is concerned with his company and not with women. He has worked hard to get where he is and needs no distractions. He feels the responsibility of his men’s welfare as they are often in very hazardous situations. He is gruff and rude and doesn’t mince his words or his actions. Everyone who meets him is afraid of him and treads lightly when he is around. His men and their families know that underneath his gruffness, he is generous and kind and helpful. He is also scornful of the men as they have fallen in love and found their women. His company is looking into Forrester and a company that makes smart watches for kids. He is also involved in prostitution and drug running. He was also a suspect in the murder of Joanna Long; but nothing could be proved. They would turn the case over to the authorities except for the question of his assistant who has completely faked papers. She doesn’t exist. As they begin to try to figure out who she really is, Ivy continues to follow her boss, Forrester. She is trying to build a case and find evidence that he was indeed at least an accomplice to her sister’s, Joanna Long, murder. When they locate her, she does not want them to finish the case until she has finished connecting him to her sister’s death. Ivy has already had a crappy life up until now with her mother telling her she didn’t want her all her life. Looking for escape for a while, she picks up Zane at a local bar and had a one-night stand with him. However, he isn’t satisfied with only one night. Will they join together to bring Forrester down or go their separate ways?
Wow, what I can say about this book except for its raining men, hot alphas galore! Frivolities aside, reading the note from the author at the beginning of the book helps you understand a lot about the main characters that are created in this story. Although this is a crossover involving some people “borrowed” from another author’s series this can be read as a standalone and the main focus is on Zane and ivy.
Zane is the tough alpha and very protective of his men and their families. When he quit the forces to set up his security business his aim was to rid the world of the bad guys, he has no time for relationships and one night stands are his norm. That might have worked well in the past until Ivy landed on his bed; she’s a game changer and turns his world upside down.
Ivy is a product of a messed up childhood who grew up with drug-addicted parents. She is extremely independent and argumentative, cloaks her insecurity with a tough shell of sass and bravado, no thanks to her mother’s verbal abuse. Her battered soul needs inner healing and she’s not sure if Zane can deal with her demons.
I must say what a treat reading Ivy and Zane’s story. It was like an action-packed movie unfolding inside my head with drool-worthy hotties, both man and women included. There is as much activity in the field as there is in bed, but all this is just icing on the cake. What I loved about Recovering Ivy is that the author tackles a more serious issue re drug addiction and how it affects family members. The author’s in-depth characterization of Ivy is brilliant and Zane’s emotional growth is what makes this a great tale, two broken people healing each other and making them whole.
“I will not quit us, and I won’t let you run away from it either. I’ll fight for us; I’ll fight when you can’t. I’ll make sure when we cross the finish line you are stronger than you have ever been.”
It's a fast-paced romance spiked with attitude and passion, the perfect book to tuck in on a lazy weekend. I really enjoyed Zane and Ivy’s story and I bet you will too!
The book is a good storyline that is captivating and action-packed. The characters are intriguing, engaging, and well developed. I did like reading this book.
After reading the spin-off series, I had to go back and read Zane's story. I'm glad I did because it showed more about this grumpy take charge man. I loved that Ivy stood her ground with him when everyone else was intimidated by him.
My issue with the storyline was that there was so much I wanted fleshed out, in particular, her mother. I wanted more of an explanation. Other than that, still a solid story.
Best one so far! Zane’s character is really good and so is Ivy.
So still a few niggles. Spelling mistakes etc but I loved it! Best one so far!
Zane meets Ivy on a one night that was incredible. When he wakes up and Ivy has gone, he’s really sad that he doesn’t know who she is. When he’s investigating an employee at a big tech company, he meets Susan who is Ivy.
Ivy has had a terrible life. Her mother is a drug addict who got together with a pimp/drug dealer who had a daughter. Ivy’s stepsister Joey has been murdered by the man who they are investigating. Ivy is working for her sisters murderer as she tries to prove he killed her. Zane believes Ivy is in danger, so moves her in with him.
Ivy is a very complicated lady who thinks she’s not good enough for him. Zane doesn’t think he’s good enough for her. Sparks fly between them and they can’t help but give in to them. A really good book.
In the blurb it says that "he found me", technically they ran into each other when he was on a case. The blurb also mentions the H not letting her go but but the first 35% he doesn't want to fall for her. H was a one night stand, never the same girl twice manwhore. h want with anyone in a long time. The H was a real areshole in the beginning on the book. He was constantly thinking about what he used to do with women, it got annoying. And all of this was getting on my nerves and I already read 40% of the book. I had a hard time liking the story until about 60% into the book. That's when I liked how both MCs worked past their defenses and found love. They weren't so jerky towards each other either.
Oh my word! I was on the hunt for something different and that is what I found with Riley's books. To say I am in love with this series and all her other works is an understatement.
I have binged on each and everyone of her books and love each and everyone.
Hot, steamy, sexy, sizzling with hot alpha males. I am in heaven.
This story is part of the Special Forces: Operation Alpha series. It is also a Red Team crossover novel. The book contains a forward by Susan Stoker and explains that while this book is set in the Special Forces: Operation Alpha world and has some of the same characters, it is not a collaboration other than to consult on the pre-existing characters to ensure consistency. It also appears that Edwards has several books in this series, along with other authors. All of the books set in this world are listed in the back of the book. At the time of this review, I have not read any of the other books in this specific series by any author involved. I have read and reviewed other books by Riley Edwards.
The story follows Zane and Ivy. Zane is a team leader for his group of mercenaries, Ivy is a woman struggling with personal issues. There is a trigger warning at the beginning of the book as the story involves topics that could be problematic for some readers. The story is well written and keeps a steady pace. The plot drew me in and I was unable to put the book down. I both liked and didn't like the character development. Ivy drew me in even though I found myself questioning the plausibility of some of her actions. Zane is a character who doesn't share much, which makes him feel flat at times, but at the same time, he's intriguing. Together they have good chemistry which translates well to the page when they are not too far into their own heads.
This book appears to be the third one that Edwards has written for the series so some of my questions about the characters may have been addressed in the previous books. The overall story did not suffer from not reading the previous books. One thing that I did love about the book is how it dealt with the aftermath of the trauma. Zane's reaction was true to his character and so was Ivy's. It was both refreshing and frustrating to read. Thankfully there were other characters there to verbally slap them around about their own behavior. This set up a great exchange for discussing how the aftermath of trauma can affect people differently and how those actions can be misinterpreted.
The series is intriguing and I look forward to reading more from this author.

It's a fast-paced romance spiked with attitude and passion, the perfect book to tuck in on a lazy weekend. I really enjoyed Zane and Ivy’s story and I bet you will too!
I absolutely loved Zane! He is a true man. Protective? Yes! Bad ass? He’ll yeah! A beautiful specimen of man, dimples included? Obviously! The best part of him is his ability to love! Once he met Ivy, it was over! The man who couldn’t do anything except be critical when the rest of the team fell in love. Now, he’s in for the ride of his life! Ivy doesn’t take his BS. She calls him on it and puts him in his place!
Ivy is one of the strongest women I’ve met. Yes, we are friends because I did let her have my perfect man. She was raised surrounded by drugs and addiction. She never fell into the trap! She beat it back with every bit of strength and determination. She lost her sister to addiction and she was on the trail of the man who killed her!
Side note: I have dealt with drug addiction destroying your family for years. I’m one of the lucky ones. My child emerged on the other side of addiction after 17 years of her 31 year life. The way Riley Edwards explained it and where the fault lies:
“No one likes to see family in pain. But it never mattered how much you wanted it for her. She had to want it. She had to make the choice to change.”
This is the absolute truth. It’s heartbreaking and next to impossible not to blame yourself!
I admire Riley Edwards in her ability to shed light on a growing problem throughout our population. She did it perfectly!
Finally, Zanes words to Ivy about her doubts and her inability to see the good in herself was breathtaking!
“I will not quit us, and I won’t let you run away from it either. I’ll fight for us; I’ll fight when you can’t. I’ll make sure when we cross the finish line you are stronger than you’ve ever been.”
I loved this book! 5 stars and a happy heart!

Zane doesn't do repeats. So why is he biting heads off because he woke up to an empty bed? Damn, he didn't even know her last name. An unexpected meeting has both he and Ivy pretending this is their first introduction. A strategic phone call and the client/perp is called away leaving Ivy in the hands of Zane. He has questions. He needs answers. Then he needs her, again.
She has a past life she doesn't want to discuss. She has a plan for revenge. Nothing will get in her way. When revenge and justice cross paths can Zane and Ivy work together? He plans to play with her and more. She just doesn't know it yet. And when she finds out....?
This is the first book I've read in the series and it does stand alone. However, I'd happily read the previous three books and any after this one. Plenty of steam, feelings change those who don't feel worthy of finding love. The team will give all for any one of them besides driving Zane to distraction with their razzing that he has been caught by a woman who takes no prisoners or anything else from a man she doesn't want. They all care about the team/family and their love is strong and loyal. This has my strong recommendation. Read for Words Turn Me On
This was my favorite book in this series so far. I knew whatever woman ended up with Zane would have to be strong, and Ivy was the perfect match for him. She stood up to him and didn’t let him bulldoze over her, but conceded when necessary. And who knew gruff, cold Zane was hiding all those sweet words under his mask!
Because this deals with addiction and abuse, it was hard to read at times. Ivy went through a lot in her childhood and it had followed her into adulthood. Zane had his own demons to face and together he and Ivy faced down every obstacle. This was definitely not an easy, love at first sight, no drama romance. It was gritty and intense. They both had to fight for their happily ever after. Zane blew me away with the way he handled Ivy. His care for her showed in every one of his actions. And when Zane needed a little help, Ivy was there for him just as steadfastly.
I loved these characters and this story. It was heartbreaking and heavy but there were also spots of humor thrown in. I loved the way Zane’s team teased him and his responses to their teasing brought some light into the story. Zane finally met his match in Ivy and it was perfect.
I've waited a long time for Zane's story. He thought he was too damaged to ever find love, well he found it in Ivy. She's his perfect match, but she won't give in when she doesn't have to and that drives Zane crazy. All his employees love it, it's about time the mighty have fallen. The story was poignant, the responsibility that a boss/leader feels and the author perfectly shows what it takes to be a leader and all that it entails. Everyone has faults and for your perfect match it doesn't matter what they are, as it's part of who they are. It was very nice to see some of Susan's characters in this story as well. Garrett and Tex ... "it takes him a week to come down from his high from working with Tex". Perfect description. And come on, Fletch's house, absolutely awesome! Can't wait for the next chapter.
The dedication at the front is very inspiring as well. I highly recommend Ms. Edwards for this series and her other books are just as spectacular.
Need a page Turner with action, suspense and romance this has it all!
Zane runs a top level special operations - hired guns with moral compass - securing our world one case at a time. The dirty work that has to be done & no one wants to do it, know about it. Ivy a survivor of abuse her entire life is at risk. This is a special force action story but it has deep soul touching depth. Survivors often feel broken, not good enough or too damaged to love. This looks at the reality they are champions hero's they survived and are stronger not broken. They can love n loyalty like no other because they know the ugliest of the world n cherish the pure, good and value loyalty n strength. Perfect book for someone struggling with self esteem or to fight for what they want n h ed...truly moving story. Violence 3, sex2

The crew is dropping like flies, paring up with the women of their dreams. Only Zane Lewis knows that there isn't a woman like that out there for him. Zane had a tough up bringing and his team is his family. He takes the responsibility for all their deaths personally. Zane heads to the bar to unwind and blow some steam off. He meets Ivy Matthews. They have one hot night of passion. Ivy leaves before Zane is awake the next morning.
Zane and crew are investigating a man for drugs and prostitution. Imagine Zane's surprise when his sexy, one night stand is at the meeting with the man. She is his assistant.
Zane's protective instincts make him want to protect Ivy. Ivy grew up with a drug addict mother, who is a real piece of work. She doesn't think that she can be with a rich man like Zane. They find out stuff about each other and the Red team bring the bad guys to justice, but not before Ivy is taken hostage.
Zane….I mean do you really need to say more. The man, the myth, the dimples!!
It’s obvious from the previous books it would take a strong woman to tame the Viper and Ivy is that woman.
Both with baggage for days about their pasts, each desperate to help the other overcome obstacles, it almost becomes too much but common sense (helpfully knocked into shape by Wolf et al) prevails and our awesome couple become total couple goals.
Zane just is who he is, no apology, no excuse needed. An ass of the highest order, he won’t change for anyone. Ivy wins this on the basis she doesn’t want to change him, she loves him for who he is, sees underneath all the outer gruffness and adored him regardless.
Zane for his part, just want Ivy safe and happy. That’s all, and he will do anything to make that the case.
Another amazing book in this series (the best one I would say and the one I return to for re-reads more often)
Zane had a not so easy childhood. He dad left when he was a young kid. Then Zane Lewis holds himself apart from the team. He thinks that will help him be the best boss and leader for his team. But little did he know that little by little he was letting his team in, especially when it comes to his brother and sister in law. Ivy had a crazy childhood and who loved her step sister. She had never wanted the live that she was dealt, she has been living her life the way she thought it should be lived, not the way she grow up. Zane also pulled himself up from where he came from.
One night in a bar Zane meets Ivy, they go back to his place to enjoy 😁😁 themselves. Ivy leaves before morning. ( side note Ivy has this about leaving before she gets left ) That piss Zane off. He attitude around the office is so bad and everyone wants to help but can't because doesn't allow anyone in.
This is a wonderful story. Can't wait to see what happens next.
I received a free copy of this book however all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own. This is hands down the best book I have read this year. I had never read any of Riley's books before this, but having finished this, and loved it, I have gone back to the beginning of the series (not that it makes any difference to this book as all background is explained perfectly). From the get go the storyline grabs you and doesn't let go, I'd normally say until the last page, but as there is the tempting teaser to the next book, I can't even say that! It has romance, suspense, murder, searing red hot sex scenes and sexy alpha males (described so well I was salivating!). Absolutely not one thing I can grumble or say I'm disappointed about, well besides the wait I've now got til the next one..................................
Zane and Ivy met in bar. They share one night together. A night neither can seem to forget about.
Zane is working a case and Ivy is trying to revenge her sister's death. Zane is not sure how she fits into his case but he wants answers. He will stop at nothing to get them.
This story is beautifully written. Zane is brooding alpha male. He has a soft side and a big heart. Only those close to him see this side of him. Ivy is strong, independent and speaks her mind. She can be handful at times. The secondary character's play vital role in the story. There is one I totally despise and so will you. I loved all the action along with all the steamy scenes.
I will be reading more from this series. This story can be read as a series or a standalone.
I loved this book but then I loved all of her Red Team books. Zane is the leader of Z corps. His exclusive security company with his brother and a few team mates. He is investigating a man called Forrester and his PA is also in his radar but nothing can be found. As he gives himself over for one night to Ivy, all of his thoughts go to her as she sneaks out early in the morning. It soon becomes apparent that Ivy's life is in danger but from who? With her mom back on the scene, Forrester going off the grid and a man from ivy's past making an appearance, it takes all of Zane's trust, Alpha tendancies and vulnerability to save her from the clutches of a bad man who was sold ivy by her own mother. Will Zane and the boys rescue her in time? Will the bad people get their dues? A great read from start to finish.
Genre:: Romance - Suspense, Military Standalone: Yes Part of a Series: Yes Book 4 of Riley Edward's Red Team and also Special Forces: Operation Alpha POV: Zane and Ivy Steam Level: hot 5/5
This is my first Red Team book I've read by Riley Edwards and I have not read any of the Susan Stoker books that this series was based around. However I had no problem diving in and catching up to the characters. I adore Riley Edwards' writing Reclaiming Ivy pulled me in from the start. It was sexy, intriguing, emotional, and smart. The theme of the family you make versus the family you are born into and fighting for those you love is throughout. I absolutely loved this book and want to dive into the rest. Reclaiming Ivy is a great romantic suspense that is action-packed and keeps you guessing throughout.
I received this book for free. This is my honest and voluntary review.
I have been reading Riley Edwards books for a couple of years but I was late in discovering the Red Team series so I am catching up. Zane has been one of my favorite characters throughout the other teams books so I was glad to read his and Ivy's story. It was a really good instant attraction story. The action and angst cannot be beat and I had no problem reading this story out of order. I loved that Ivy is a perfect counterpart to Zane's bossiness and that he is the top alpha of the alphas! So if you're wondering why I would rate a story that I thought was great 4 stars instead of 5 ... grammatical errors. There are quite a few and it may distract some readers from what is really a good story that ties in well to the Operation Alpha world. Recovering Ivy was told from dual POV and was hot with a capital H! I am so glad I read it and I plan on reading the other Red Team stories too.
Ivy Matthews and Zane Lewis enjoy an amazing hook-up after drinks in a bar, so much they can’t stop thinking of each other the next day. When Ivy’s ordered to attend an after-hours meeting with her boss, the next night, both she and Zane are speechless to see each other. As it turns out, Zane’s firm is working Ivy’s boss for their client and Ivy’s working him for vengeance.
Kudos that the author shared a personal piece, I hoped it gave a degree of catharsis. This reader chugged along but did get a bit tired of Ivy who bordered on one-note. I got the continuous restarts and emotional issues (self-esteem low self-worth, guilt issues, etc.) which can be true for children of all addicts. But I was annoyed with the same fight with the same words (f you both repeat the same words the same way, somebody’s not getting their point across.) Rating: 4stars
