Matt's Haunting: An Irish Ghost Story

Rate this book
What spirits haunt this Irish island?

When his parents made the impulsive decision to buy the dilapidated cottage on one of Ireland’s most isolated islands, Matt never thought he’d be roped into overseeing the renovations. As he settles into life on what the locals call “the black island”, Matt soon learns that there’s more to the place than just castle ruins, smoky pubs, and barren cliffs that overlook the leaden sea.

The island that holds onto many of its traditional ways life is also home to a host of ghosts and secrets–secrets that might be better off left uncovered.

Matt didn’t want to become involved, but the restless spirits won’t leave him in peace. With Matt’s best friend, artist Taryn Magill, staying with him, they’re soon caught up in one of the island’s many tragedies when a young backpacker goes missing. This isn’t the first time a young woman has disappeared on the island.

With the help of Taryn’s camera that can see the past, the two race against the clock to determine what really DID happen to the women that vanished. In this spooky, Irish ghost story, Matt and Taryn attempt to solve the mysteries of the island’s torrid past before they become victims themselves.

A spooky haunted house read with a paranormal mystery that will engage you until the end!

I normally love this author and the Taryn’s camera series. I also love the Kentucky witches series. However I thought this book fell short of the standard set in these previous books. As has been remarked upon elsewhere be editing was horrible! Simple things like think instead of thing. Other books in the series have been deliciously scary, this book was more ho hum than horrifying. Lastly, without trying to reveal too much, I feel the author was retroactively setting the stage for events in Taryn’s and Matt’s relationship. I simply didn’t enjoy the book at all and was very disappointed because I really loved all the other books.

Matt's Discoveries

I've read the entire Taryn's Camera series and enjoyed it greatly. I was excited to read another chapter in the lives of Taryn's and Matt. I do wish she had left more to Matt's discovery and his explanation of what transpired.
I think this a terrific quick read for any young adult on up.
ENJOY!

I love the Taryns Camera series. Although I loved the book Sarah's House, I hated that Taryn died. I'm so glad that the author decided to write this book about Matt and included Taryn in the story.

Lost a star due to poor editing

Love the series this book is based on. However the poor editing in this book was very distracting and continuously disrupted the flow.

Good story. This is one I'll have to re-read this one. Because I must of missed some of the key clues.
