Rise of the Dead Series
Rise of the Dead Return of the Dead Rage of the Dead - Coming Nov 2018 Reign of the Dead - Coming 2019 Remains of the Dead - Coming 2019
Jeremy Dyson lives for one reason; to kill zombies. Until he gets that chance, he occupies his time drinking beer, writing stories, and teaching his children not to go to the bathroom on the floor. So far he has only succeeded in two of those endeavors.
After studying at the University of Iowa, Jeremy moved back home to Illinois, worked on a farm, built websites, made lattes, wrote how-to articles, and took dogs for walks before deciding he should probably do something different. About a year later, his debut novel, Rise of the Dead, was released. The rest is history.
He currently resides in the cozy town of Crystal Lake, Illinois with his wife, two daughters, a pair of scruffy, stinky dogs, and his best friend, Jason Voorhees.
Okay I just want to say that I have truly enjoyed this series book 1 and 2 were truly masterpieces of zombie carnage and action with some really cool characters that I grew to like very much but here we go onto book 3 and we're introduced to Chase a Marine that has the worst pessimistic attitude that I've probably ever read in books. I despised this character throughout the whole book and kept reading just to find out when he would finally meet up with Blake and the rest of the gang that I had grown to enjoy so much, now don't get me wrong this was still the same zombie Carnage action as the other two books but it was a lot slower than the other 2 books, a lot of just traveling and them on the road and things happening here and there but nowhere close to the zombie carnage and Nonstop Action of the previous two books, now it did end somewhat disappointing but I will read book 4, I'm just disappointed in book 3 if I didn't like the series so much I would have gave this book a 3 star rating but I've enjoyed it so I gave it 4 I really hope he goes back to the original form of book 1 and 2 with book 4 come on Mr. Dyson don't let me down
I have never heard of Jeremy Dyson so didn't know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. Rise of the Dead started with a group of survivors and followed their story. I thought Return of the Dead would be a continuation of that but it started out with a completely different narrator. Book 3, Rage of the Dead did the same thing. I found I quite enjoyed this approach and I highly suggest you read this series.
First of all let me say I enjoyed this book much better than I did the last one. Chases realistic depiction of what was going on in his world was more to my liking. He understood that everybody isn’t good and everybody can’t be saved. What I didn’t like was the hobbling of him in the early portion of the book. He would’ve definitely survived zombie Apocalypse because of his outlook on life. What I did not like is the authors continuing to kill off characters that I have taken a liking to. Why would you surrender your life for a dog that’s not realistic and that took me out of the story and as far as children and zombie apocalypse books or any kind of science fiction books I personally do not care for them. I don’t think they have a place in these books, and no child is going to be reading this kind of Book. But all said and done I am looking forward to the next book.
first review after 3 books, (i like to get a feel for tbe author) This is one of the top "zombie" series I've read. lots of action, descriptive, but not verbose. I normally do not prefer 1st person narrative but Mr. Dyson pulls it off perfectly. the characters are different, but well defined. so far the meshing of the different characters to end up where book 3 ends is seamless. you'll care and relate to them as different personalities. Love the automatic reanimation aspect ala "walking dead". adds suspense. Highly recommend this series. Note: Start from the beginning, this one needs to be enjoyed in the order released. Great work Jeremy Dyson. I am your newest fan.
This series is so good I've been reading the entire weekend. Finally and through all the losses, the team reach their destination. I didn't think I'd like Book 3 with the armed forces involved but it was actually pretty good. The marines and seals were the most entertaining and loyal. I'm upset about their losses but I'm keeping hope alive for Fletcher. Seems like all the best characters don't make it near the end every time. I felt like yelling out "surprise" at the end of this book. Just when you think it's the end, it's not. If you like reading about the apocalypse and zombies, you'll enjoy this story. On to Book 4.
Book number 3 is just as good as the rest. I did have a little trouble remembering the story line and characters but I just went back to books one and two to refresh my memory. I've thoroughly enjoyed reading this series so far and hope Dyson continues on with ROTD books.
I was. So glad to fjnd ojt thks boou was so long! It had a few cliff hangers that i think couldve been tied up a little bit better but over all it kept pace with the other 2 books before it and it kept me interested and invested in the characters... need more asap
I love that every book in this series is about a different group of people and their stories about the start of the apocalypse then they all connect and the characters meet up and the story continues. An interesting read with a careful balance of the many rotating characters!
This was the best so far and I’m looking forward to reading the other books in this series. I love the zombie action … of which there is plenty! But the author really keeps the pace tense and fast, all the while crafting each character until you realize you feel like you know each of them personally.
I enjoyed this book immensely. It has everything a good book should have; a little humor, a tiny bit of romance, a lot of action, and grat characters. I stayed interested in this story all the way through and look forward to reading the next book in the series.
I really enjoyed this book, it was action packed, and had me on the edge of my seat. I hope theres another book, because I really want to know whats next fot the characters, the narration was good. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
Now this one was a look through the eyes of a military man who was betrayed and his friends murdered but still he proceeded on and work through it after losing three fingers and still was able to be part of a group that got to the end but is it?
