I think that the writers of Mojang;s Mobestiary had great fun working on this hardback title. It's oddly presented for a reference guide, probably because the material covered, despite being an interesting topic, is relatively shallow. Each Minecraft mob has a full page of text and an accompanying full page hand drawn picture, with a few notes behind its design. The drawings are mostly monochrome, with hints of subtle colour - certainly striking in their design. The whole book is printed on thick parchment style paper, which creates an old feel to the book, which matches the sketch style of artwork.

Each page of text is written very colloquially, which ensure younger readers can absorb the information like it is spoken to them. This makes it seem like a wise mob hunter is talking about each of the animals and mobs, revealing critical information about each in turn. Although this style makes for good reading, it also detracts from the ease of use, should this be used a reference guide. The clue though, is in the title. This is a bestiary not a reference tool per se. Shame it couldn't tick both boxes, but it remains a very good accompaniment for Minecraft fans nonetheless.

So good. I stopped playing for a while and so many things have been added! The first world I started recently, I spawned right next to a woodland mansion and a witch's lair. I had seen a witch before but it still killed me right away and I couldn't remember anything about it. This book was a great refresher and guide to new (to me) mobs. I loved the way it was written and really appreciated the information.

combined use of illustration and presentation inspired by a game that touched millions of peoples hearts has elevated this book to high art. my favorite is the vex. though because of its date we miss out on newer mob updates, such as my one and only, The Warden.

Not gonna lie, this was insanely helpful. Right off the bat, (lol, because it starts with bats) I found out what all of those damn name tags I've been collecting are for. I never thought to look it up, but now I know! There are other tons of useful tips, etc, in here. definitely worth the read.

Very cool book and the illustrations are very detailed and interesting. I love Encyclopedias like this with virtually useless information on a subject I’m grossly educated in.
