Summer
Evers Sinclair is dangerous.
One flash of that teasing smile, and I know he’s going to ruin me.
He makes my body shiver and my brain melt.
He’s also a huge mistake.
Girls like me don’t land guys like Evers.
But every time he knocks on my door, I let him in.
I thought we understood each other.
I thought we were playing the same game.
I was wrong.

Evers
I’ve never had a problem mixing business with pleasure.
Until Summer.
I was supposed to keep an eye on her, not take her to bed.
Once I had her where I wanted her, I couldn’t let her go.
I’m going to have to move heaven and Earth to win her back.
And that’s the easy part.
With the Russian mob after us and her father dragging us to hell…
I don’t just have to win her back, I have to keep her alive.

Unraveled is a standalone romance with a happy ending. It’s first in The Untangled Series featuring the Sinclair brothers you first met in the Alpha Billionaire Club and Scandals of the Bad Boy Billionaire series.

Ivy Layne has had her nose stuck in a book since she first learned to decipher the English language. Sometime in her early teens, she stumbled across her first Romance, and the die was cast. These days, she’s neck deep in alpha heroes and the smart, sexy women who love them.

Married to her very own alpha hero (who rubs her back after a long day of typing, but also leaves his socks on the floor). Ivy lives in the mountains of North Carolina where she and her other half are having a blast raising two energetic little boys. So, I haven't read the original series Scandals of the Bad Boy Billionaires, because it's obvious to me this is a spinoff, and there is a lot of missing history to me. This is a series about this powerful family called Sinclair, who works in security for high-end people. The protagonist is called Evers Sinclair and he and Summer have met previously in her best friend's wedding, they had an understanding, "friends with benefits", she fell for him but discovered that he is on a mission involving her father who disappeared after dealing with the Russian mafia. They meet again in her current position as a secretary of a sort to a wealthy woman going into a public divorce, he's there to protect the household and she is there to make everything run smoothly.

The beginning was good but after chapter 23 I was bored out of my mind... I just wanted to finish the book.

Even though I never finished Ivy's previous series, Scandals of the Bad Boy Billionaires, I still figured it wouldn't hurt to just jump into Unraveled. After jumping into it, though, I realized quickly that I most definitely should have finished the other series since this was a spin-off.

Whoops?

In it, you will meet Summer and Evers. They met at a wedding and became friends with benefits soon after. It wasn't hard for her to develop feelings after this because it was obviously bound to happen. Little did she know what his real motive was and the drama unfolded seconds after the big reveal.

Honestly, the first part of this book was really good. I couldn't stop myself from turning the pages. But, unfortunately, things slowed down around the halfway-ish mark. I was just kind of bored with everything due to not a lot actually happening.

Yeah, they were back in each other's lives after all the drama attacked them. The romance was okay in some parts but I felt more of the chemistry and tension in the first half. I definitely wish the romance was consistent throughout the entire book but it depressingly wasn't (for me). Or maybe I'm just picky for some odd reason.

In the end, I feel like I need to dive back into the other series before moving on to the sequel in this one.

Unraveled was most certainly a 4+ reading. You will get to know the Sinclair's, specifically Ever. We have seen Ever from afar (in Alpha Billionaire Club and Scandals of the Bad Boy Billionaire series). Now, we get an up close and personal look at him and his world and the woman that snags his attention. Sexy romance with intense suspense and some low key action. Start the new series off with a bang or two. Staying alive and getting the girl.

We get to have a deeper look a another fantastic family from Ivy Layne's mind. This was just the top of the new series. I am excited to see what will be delivered for the rest of the Sinclair clan.

Slow Start, bit overall a good read!

For me, this book was a slower start than what I’m used to, it took me till about 30 percent into the book to really get into it, but once I was pulled in, it was hard to put down! Evers and Summer were a perfect match and once they got over their communication error you could tell they were just made for each other. I will definitely be interested in picking up some of the other Untangled books in order to read about the other men in the security business. There was also equal parts mystery and smut/romance, it wasn’t just all about the FMC and her guy doing it Layne did a great job of keeping the mystery in as well!

Evers Sinclair owns Sinclair Security with his brothers. He hooks up with Summer at a wedding. He feels an immediate connection and heads for the hills. He's not ever getting entangled long term, doesn’t think he’s capable of long term monogamy. A year later, he seeks her out again. They play this cat and mouse game for the next year.
Summer thinks Evers is the hottest thing ever, but thinks he's really out of her league. So she goes along with the occasion scraps he throws her way. Lots of sex, minimal talking because, just a fling, right? When Summer discovers she is "just a job" to Evers, she's rightfully hurt and angry. Evers is forced to re-evaluate his issues and decide where he wants to take their "relationship" next. And of course, he has to convince Summer he truly means it and get her to agree.
While they are trying to figure this out, the hunt for the Sinclair’s dad continues. Summer’s dad is a real piece of work. They didn’t get any further in their quest to find their dad, except discovering just how horrible a person he had become. It just feels like it’s on a hamster wheel, going round and round without going anywhere. Feeling a little frustrated with that.

Not a bad read, just not my favorite from this author. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC provided by Booksprout and the author.

DNF 😩
Okay, during the first chapter I zoned out. Seems like I’ve Layne tried to put the words ‘Ever Sinclair’ as much as possible in one chapter.

The female narrator is fine, I have no idea how Soren Gray is, because I deleted this audiobook from my library after chapter one.

The only reason I finished this book is so I could give a honest review. It’s written like a bad wattpad story, so much of the plot is truly ridiculous and there is little to none of character development. The plot is so obscur that I never was able to believe in the story. I found this book through Amazon prime and it was free. The romantic spicy parts are so incredibly short and not very detailed.

An underrated book! My first Ivy Layne read and it was amazing. I love the action and tension was great. My only mistake was reading this book first because every side characters have their own stories in another series. Bummer, it would have been more enjoyable for me to see these recurring characters if I read the other series respectively.

Unraveled is the first book in Untangled series which mainly revolves around the Sinclair Brothers and the Sinclair Security. Police, Undercover, Security and Secret Agents are my type of action romance and this fit the bill well. I like the whole premise of the story! Though, the adrenaline wasn't over the top, it was still interesting to read how the Sinclairs' operate.

The relationship between Evers Sinclair and Summer Winters started out as friends with benefits and it was nice to see how it excalated from there. Evers was one swoon-worthy character! You really wouldn't know how a person means to you until you loses them and I'm glad Evers managed to get his shit together.

There was some repitition in writing that annoyed me sometimes. Like how the name "Evers Sinclair" was mentioned a hundred times in the first quarter of the book. But overall, this was a great read. Looking forward to the Knox's story.

Great first book in the series. Evers is mysterious and charming and I loved the connection and romance between he and Summer. So many twists and turns that kept me guessing in this one. Summer could get in her head too much at times but overall I liked this. Looking forward to Knox Sinclair’s book next!

This is Unraveled, book one of The Untangled Series by Ivy Layne. Woohoo! Back with the Winters’ and Sinclair families. As Evers Sinclair investigates Summer Winters he gets too close to her and winds up in her bed. Can Evers work the case while he works Summer? Will Summer find out the secrets that he is hiding? It’s quite a tangled web that we weave.... It will pull you in and leave you wanting more!

Lots of action and twists and turns in this one.
I love the connection between the brothers of Sinclair Security and how they look out for each other.
Summer is a little too wishy-washy in her relationship with Evers, but once you meet her sleazy father, it explains a lot.

So very disappointed.

Here’s the thing, writers can’t want the female character to be ‘great at their job’ and basically be stupid about their father. This was the most frustrating aspect of this story. The lead female could recount “all the ways” her father was a worthless, self-centered man and yet wouldn’t accept the loser would put her life at risk to save himself? Not going to waste time if the story is going to be told like that. It is just beyond ridiculous. So, I usually like this author, but this one tanks and tanks badly. Don’t bother.

I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Unfortunately, I deleted the book the second the main character described herself as "not like other girls". Instantly unlikeable. That, coupled with the fact I really dislike first person stories makes this book is not worth my time. It's a shame since the author clearly has skill.

Evers & Summer. Really enjoyed this one too. Great chemistry and hot hookups.

Her bestie is married to his brother (that's how they met). They hooked up at their wedding (bestie/bro) then run into each other again a year later and hook up again. Then they kind of have a random booty call kind of relationship but she really likes him. She wants more but that isn't what they have going on.

She runs across a file in his workbag with her dad's name on it. Well...seems that his company, Sinclair Security has been investigating her and her dad. She is a Winters relation and they were investigating her to make sure she didn't show up at the family house with a handout. Her dad was also under investigation because of his possible involvement with stuff that daddy Sinclair was involved in. Needless to say, she was not happy finding out that she was a job and their thing wasn't real. She kicks him out (no booty for him) and ends their thing.

His company is hired by an ex-GF of his (she's a famous actress) to do security for her while she vacations in Atlanta. Her hubby who went to rehab to get clean and sober (and learn how to keep his D in his pants) was caught in a compromising photograph with some ingenue. Our actress has a restraining order against her hubby and has a big part coming up so she wants to take a month or two to escape and relax. But she needs security and wants Evers (former booty call) to head up the security team. Actress also wants her personal assistant, you guessed it...Summer to stay with her to run her social life. Summer agrees w/o knowing who was the security team because actress is her favorite client. When she finds out that Evers was heading the team she acts professionally and ignores him. But Houston, we have a problem...her dad has gone missing and there was a break in at the Castle they were staying in (she caught some dude in her office stealing her cell phone and laptop during a ridiculous party for 75 people that actress wanted to have but gave only a week to make the party happen) and she is knocked out.

She freaks out some and wants to find her dad. Evers is also looking for him so they team up. They have an about us conversation and she manages to forgive him. He told her that he loved her and she caved. We have some hot hookups while looking for dear old dad. They find him staying in a camper on his friend's land (hoarder house with meth sitting out on the coffee table). Did I mention that her dad is a hippie stoner and literally is always stoned?

They take Stoney (people legit call him that but I'd go by that if my name was Clive too) back to the castle to protect him and get info out of him about his involvement with Big Papa Sinclair. He was hired to transport stuff: drugs, guns, women and children. BP Sinclair and Stoney were working with some Russian mobsters doing illegal stuff. Sinny stole some $$$ from the mobsters and transferred it into some bank account and the mobsters want the account numbers. Stoney like any dear old dad would do decides to help the Russian's by drugging everyone in the castle and letting the mobsters in. Summer, Evers, and Stoney are zip tied to chairs. Stoney doesn't have the account numbers but says he could get them; Evers says he can find them. The Russians take Summer as leverage but before leaving the Russians tell her that they only need one of them to get the info needed. She has to choose who she thinks would get them. She chooses Evers and they end up shooting her dad twice in the chest and take off with her.

Conner Sinclair shows up but refuses to release Evers from the chair (he was going all savage and wasn't thinking correctly) so he can calm down. Aiden shows up and he's pissed that Summer was taken. The Winters family found out about her and the wanted to meet her and make her part of the Winters family thing. Evers tells Conner to call Russians and tell them to trade Summer for Evers. If they didn't, Aiden would call in his contacts at the FBI, CIA, White House, etc and that would stir up a shit storm that the Russians didn't want. They agree and trade them. Evers is chipped to track but uses his former military training to go all commando on the Russians. He kills the Russian goons and is holding head Russian until the FBI and other Sinclair team shows up. Rushy is arrested.

Summer and Evers are reunited and she tells him she loves him too. He gives her a cocky "I know already". She ends up moving into his house and he ends up proposing to her. Now get this... Rushy gets out of jail within like a week. However Summer isn't a target anymore. Rushy had told Evers that they knew who had the account numbers (hint the chick in book 2 of this series) and were going to go after her, BP Sinclair (along with his "whore, and the kid"). Not sure about these last 2 but hey that's why I'm moving on to the next book.

It’s a good thing I read the Winters Saga before this book or else I would have been completely lost. I wish I had started this immediately after I finished that series but I was growing bored of the family and wanted a change. I get why people have said this book started off good and then fell slightly as the book went on. I think the progression of Summer and Evers’ story all happened in the beginning of the book instead of the middle. After that, it felt like nothing else mattered. I get that Ivy wanted to get the emotions and feelings out in the beginning and focus on the investigation the reminder of the book but I think it lost me when Evers and Summer find her father. From there, it just felt like a cat and mouse game and finding out who was behind things and what was going on. It seemed like any information that was needed during the investigation gets dragged out and you don’t find out until the end of the book. I think it was unnecessary to take care of Cynthia’s rumor and ex problem in a chapter. It didn’t add anything to the story and just seemed like it was added because Ivy didn’t know how to finalize Cynthia’s story, just that it needed to get done. Also, in the beginning of the book, it just felt like we were once again tossed into the midst of Summer and Evers’ relationship without any background, how it happened and feelings that came from them upon first meeting. I didn’t know what was going on and how it came to be. I would have liked a prologue and then go into the past to see how their relationship started but I guess Ivy didn’t want to go in that direction and just wanted to focus on the investigation and search while having Summer and Evers explore their connection. I think there was a lot going on in this book, which made it harder to follow and you could tell Ivy wanted to do a lot in one book. I think with the focus being on Summer’s dad, plus the Sinclair’s father, then with Cynthia’s issue information got lost to me. Now it seems one of the suspects or person of interest for the Sinclair’s will be Knox’s love interest and I don’t know how that’s going to go unless she’s not what she seems which feels like the case. The three books will have the focus go back to the investigation and I just hope that the information won’t be all over the place like this one had. I liked the investigation and action in this book blended with figuring out the problem but after a while it just went on too long and I got bored. All the intimacy, tender moments and passion happens in the beginning and doesn’t resurface until the end of the book and I just wish there was more focus on that and background. I was going to give this a 4, but I think after reflecting on this book, a 3 suits it more.

Time for the Sinclair Brothers

Evers Sinclair, former Army Ranger, is one of the four Sinclair brothers who are the third generation owner/operators of Sinclair Security. The Sinclair boys were raised together with the Winters clan and their friendship and provision of security and protection services is of paramount importance to both families.

Evers first met Summer Winters, the only daughter of old hippy parents, when his brother Axel first became involved in investigating, then protecting, his now wife, Emma. Summer was Emma's best friend and Evers was sent to bring Summer, and the package Emma had sent to her for safekeeping, to Sinclair Security's Las Vegas location. Although there was substantial friction between the two from the start, there was also a strong attraction between them, which ultimately resulted in a three continuous day stand (way more intense than one night) immediately after Axel and Emma's wedding. This was just the beginning of a regular series of hookups between the two, which continued for many months until the night Summer learned that keeping track of her was a part of Evers' job protecting the Winters family. Sinclair Security was watching her and her stoner father, Clive "Smokey" Winters, who, it turned out, was a close relation to the Winters kids (and they subsequently learned he was also involved somehow with their own father, Maxwell Sinclair, who they originally believed had died in an auto accident many years earlier). Even so, it turned out the feelings that both Evers and Summer had tried their hardest to avoid had developed anyway, leaving them both totally bereft after the deception was uncovered.

Desperate to find a way back into Summer's good graces, Evers is given a glimmer of hope when he is requested to head the security detail for one of Summer's clients, actress Cynthia Stevens, who is returning to her home town of Atlanta, Georgia, to escape for a few months after the breakup of her marriage, while she prepares for her next role.

Working to reunite with Summer, locating her father, Smokey Winters (who has recently disappeared), investigating the possible faked death of Maxwell Sinclair and learning more about the illegal and illegitimate activities he was involved in prior to his apparent death, including involvement with the Russian mafia, protecting actress Cynthia Stevens and a host of other interrelated intrigues, make for one heck of a story in Ivy Layne's newest series. I can't wait for the next book in this series to get some more answers to these mysteries and follow the next Sinclair brother's fall from bachelorhood.

Unraveled, by Ivy Layne is a 432-page contemporary romance novel and is the first book out of a 3-part series. It is written from a first-person POV, two-sided.

Ivy Layne is an author who generally writes dirty, dirty sex scenes. So if you're someone who is looking for some dirty read (which there is nothing wrong with that) this is the book for you.

Spoilers Ahead ***

So, this series is going to be about the rest of the Sinclair brothers. This book will focus on Evers and Summer.

These two were introduced off and on in some fashion through the Winters Saga and the Billionaire Club. It turns out they had been sleeping with each other off and on for the past year, unbeknownst to them, they'd both been exclusive with each other. The way their relationship worked is Evers would just randomly show up at Summer's house and she'd let him in. One of the nights he stopped by he fell asleep on her couch and she accidentally knocked down his briefcase where he had a folder on her father. Knowing that Evers worked for a security company she had a sick feeling that he was only with her for the job.

When she accused him of such, he didn't deny it. TL;DR, this all goes back to the Russian mob that was introduced in The Billionaire Club series and her father was wrapped up with. Turns out Summer's dad wasn't a great man. The whole Russian mob deal is quite convoluted, but her father was a driver for the mob when they needed to transport "goods". Of course, Evers wasn't just using Summer, he'd developed real feelings for her and he strove to prove it to her throughout the book.

The author does a really good job keeping the book so it reads as a standalone, but trust me, you're going to want to read the other books associated to this, it'll make the story much richer. I'd read it in the following order:

1. The Billionaires Club

2. The Winters Saga

In summary, I give this a 4 out of 5.

It was okay. A bit boring. Nothing happens till right at the end, then it doesn’t go into details.

I’m not sure why, but I really couldn’t get into this book. I did finish it but it was a struggle. Really disappointed with it. Too many bizarre situations. If I found out that my dad had been doing, what hers was, I’d be marching him into a police station. Not taking him to my bosses house!!! Why would her boss accept her dad moving in? Summer and Evers, keep having to go places, while they’re supposed to be working and Catherine is okay with that? Personally I’d sack them both!!! The other minor niggle is his name. Evers is a weird name. Maybe that’s just me?

Summer and Evers have been meeting up for sex, for a while, when she finds out that she was just a mission for him. She’s heartbroken as she was falling in love with him.(Though she doesn’t seem heartbroken. There’s no phoning her friends or crying to them.) When she moves into her clients temporary home to work as a personal assistant to a movie star, Evers is there as security for her client, Catherine. He tries to apologise to Summer and she doesn’t want to know. Evers was watching Summer as her father had been receiving payments of Evers supposedly dead dad. So they go to find her dad, leaving Catherine without her security boss and personal assistant. When they find her dad, he won’t tell them what he was up to. So Evers takes him to their building and her dad admits what he doing. It’s really really bad, but Summer can’t give up on him and takes him to Catherine’s house!!! Yeah that would happen. Not! In the middle of this crazy storyline, they’re having sex constantly. Everywhere in the house, Catherine’s house! But nobody ever catches them. Wow. Must be secure.

It could have been brilliant, but isn’t. I just couldn’t identify with either of them. Too many inconsistencies. Plots that really just don’t make sense, and main characters are really bland.

This is the first book in this new series by Ivy Layne and it feature Evers Sinclair, one of the Sinclaire brothers from, Sinclaire's Security and Evers is on a job to gather information about Smokey Winters, in order to do that, Evers had to get close to his daughter, Summer Winters, a estranged second cousin of the Winters Family. Since she is a Winters and may be after the Winters money, Summer too was under investigation, before she had a chance to be near any of her cousins, doing this in order to protect the Winters Family from anyone trying to harm them. Evers was drawn to Summer, ever since he first saw her, she didn't act, sound or feel like any other woman Evers has ever been with and has fallen for her fast. Summer found out Evers has had her under surveillance for over a year and in that time, Summer too has fallen in love with him, but when she learned this, she kick Evers out and said she never wants to see him again. Evers now has another job, to be head of security for the famous actress Cynthia Stevens, while Cynthia is in town for several month, who also happened to be his ex-lover and Summer, who is Cynthia handler, rented a huge house, called Rycroft Castle, where her and Evers will be living under the roof while Cynthia is in town, to protect her from her soon to be ex-husband actor Clint Perry, but Perry is not the only person trying to enter Rycroft Castle. Evers father's and Summers father are connected and doing something illegal, now they are coming after Evers and Summer for answers.
Once again Ms. Layne has written a new series, that I am unable to put down. It's well written, full of action, emotions, suspense and also a great love story, and i can't wait to read the next book.
I am volunteering to leave a review for a ARC of this book.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This series is tied to characters the showed up in the Scandals of the Bad Boy Billionaires that I reviewed earlier this year.

Unraveled (Untangled #1)
Undone (Untangled #2)
Uncovered (Untangled #3)

Unraveled features Evers Sinclair of Sinclair Securities the Security company that the Winters family employees and childhood friends from Scandals of the Bad Boy Billionaires series. Evers once had a case in which he had to cozy up to the lovely Summer and when it all fell to crap when she found out he can’t stop thinking about her. She is in trouble and mixed in with a new case Evers is assigned. I love the enemies to lovers and second chance tropes of this novel. Ivy Layne does a great job blending these romance tropes in an unexpected way.

Undone features another Sinclair brother Knox. Knox is hired to look at the security for Lily a newly-widowed single mother. I love that this novel finishes a mystery that was first developed in the Scandals of the Bad Boy Billionaires novels. Knox is a sweety and I would want to snuggle up with him any time. You have to love a big guy who also loves fairy tales. His house is to die for.

Uncovered features the oldest Sinclair brother Cooper. You have to love it when the last man standing falls and falls hard. Alice is the lynchpin in Sinclair Securities’ everyday operations. Cooper has been avoiding his love for Alice since the day she was hired and his father confessed that he had an affair with her. Alice takes care of everything and is so important that the whole place would cease to function without her. I love watching the big man fall and the swallowing of humble pie. Alice is the best character in the series hands down.

Hot on the heels of the final book in Ivy Layne's fantastic "Scandals of the Bad Boy Billionaires" aka the Winters' family, comes the Sinclair brothers of the eponymous Sinclair Security. For those who have read Ivy Layne's earlier books, we've met Evers Sinclair before, notably in The Temptation Trap which features Evers' brother Axel, plus mentions of Evers and Summer in some of the Scandals series.

Without giving away too many spoilers, Evers and Summers have been in, what Summer believes to be, a casual relationship for a year or so, when Summer realises that Evers has been keeping tabs on her in a professional capacity for Sinclair Security. This does not go down well! Summer's dad is an old hippy who has become involved with some really dodgy dealings and Summer is now under threat. It's a great read with plenty of suspense, drama and of course the love interest. I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait for the next in the series.

All Ivy Layne's books are standalone, but there is a thread running through them and some of the mystery won't be wrapped up to the final book in the series. If you want to read a prequel, Axel and Emma's story, which can be bought standalone The Temptation Trap: Volume 3 (The Alpha Billionaire Club) or as part of a 3 book deal in the Alpha Billionaires series. I'd also recommend the Winters series. It starts with The Billionaire's Pet (Scandals of the Bad Boy Billionaires Book 3), and each book gets stronger as the series progresses.

THRILLING - DANGER - ACTION & FIERY PASSIONATE ROMANCE!

UNRAVELED BURNS WITH PASSION; From the moment I started reading I was glued to the story needing to learn what happened next. Inside; suspense and action keep you on edge, then betrayal, jealousy, family drama, fun times too, witty-banter, tear-jerking moments, life-threatening moments, a mystery, heated passionate romance and an awesome happily ever after.

Summer Winters is smart, sassy, a virtual assistant and a beauty. Evers Sinclair is part of Sinclair Security, he is charming, powerful and has a smile that could melt ice. They first meet at a wedding; then they had intimate evenings every now and then. One night Summer learns she is part of a case that Evers is working on and throws him out of her home. When they meet again he is on security detail for one of Summer's clients. The road to their happy ending is dangerous with challenges they must face together.

WOW THRILLING fast-paced read that kept me up past my bedtime; loved every second of this story. Praise-worthy characters spring to life with well thought out dialogue and dynamic vivid scene descriptions. We also get to see some of the Winters clan in this story. Evers and Summer are awesome together; a perfect match. Finding this to be a most entertaining read; {of my own volition without any stipulations, I reviewed an advanced copy.} Without any hesitation, I recommend this read.
