My family moved to Australia just after I was born but returned to England in time for me to start school. I was educated in Surrey and lived there until I got married. I now live in the south of England with my husband and our three children. We used to live on a fish farm, which we shared with 300,000 rainbow trout. We share our current home with a few goldfish and a white wolf cunningly disguised as a dog.

Jobs:
I’ve worked in a kennels, shops, pubs and on a mushroom farm. My first full-time job was as a laboratory technician and after that a teacher. I’m now a full time writer.

There were two - This and That and I Don’t Want To Go To Bed!

Favourite Things:
Family, friends, Spring (the season not the bouncy sort although bouncing is good, too), cappuccino, Danish pastries, Cornwall, the sea, books, animals, chocolate.

Worst Things:
Litter, vandals, cleaning the house, having NOTHING to read.

Hobbies:
Reading, walking, cooking, hanging out in cafés.

Started reading this series with my niece (7y). I personally love to read and wanted something to talk about with my niece. These are well written and engaging for the target audience and enjoyable even for me. The main plots wraps up within the individual books and rarely impact the others in the series. This will allow for conversations on what the target reader might have done as opposed to the characters in the story. These typically deal with finding inner courage and doing what’s right. The series has an over arching plot that runs through all the books that allows you to have conversations on theories for subsequent books. These conversations have been the most fun, it’s a joy to listen to how a child thinks the world should work.

I I liked the book but in Olivia and snowflake was cool was cool because it had my name in it and in this book I noticed that the name Olivia was in it too. But the Olivia book was not before or after the book I read.🐈

Another cute installment in the series, this time Isabel gets her time to grow with Cloud.

Isabel is very motivated by winning and starts out seeing little point to shoot for anything that isn’t first place. This causes some strife with her friends when she dominates the direction the group takes without taking into account what they valued. She also finds that she wants to prove herself, to a fault. She is easily manipulated by the school bully into taking risks and breaking rules that get her in trouble. The story actually explores a pretty mean side of things where the protagonist retaliates and plays a pretty nasty prank on the bully. While the bully was definitely antagonizing her and others it is pretty clear that Isabel went too far and was rightly punished for it. She even got one of her friends in trouble but was strong enough to absolve her of any of the guilt. I felt this was a pretty mature arc, and I definitely added commentary and asked my 4 year old questions on how to respond to someone being a bully.

I think by the end of the story Isabel has grown a lot and is a better person for it. Now for the adventure along the way - once again the school is in trouble, this time due to unending rains and the flooding it is causing. It is up to the team to find out what might be causing it and of course by the end rush to the location to fix it, breaking the rules again of course to get there :) there is some suspense in their exploration of a beach, cliff, and cave. Some worries that some of the friends would get trapped by the water with the threat of drowning. No ominous cloaked figures, strangling plants, or deadly animals this time - so way less anxiety for my daughter!

I enjoyed this book more than the others in the series. I think Isabel was the most interesting character in the story, because she likes to win, and is strong- very different from the other characters. I liked the prank when she and Scarlett turned Valentina blue. That was funny! Also, the part when Cloud parted the sea was really cool. My favourite book in the series so far!

I read with my three year old, we’re a little out of sequence but all the books follow the same winning formula and although you get some small spoilers reading out of order my daughter does seem to notice or care!

Uważam, że książka jest bardzo dobra. Ma proste słownictwo, dzięki czemu mogłam przeczytać ją po angielsku. Moim zdaniem końcówka była zbyt ucięta i przydałby się jeszcze jeden rozdział. Historia porusza problem zazdrości i pragnienia bycia najlepszą we wszystkim. Bardzo polecam.

This book was ok.I like how the main character Isabel was able to learn how competitions don’t always have to be won and sometimes it’s just how much fun the process is.And that’s what made it a good read.Thats it.Cant wait to read the next one…😌(such a nice break from those YA books !!)😆😂😅
