Last First Kiss

Rate this book
Despite her own dumpster fire of a love life, Calista Franklin is a hopeless romantic. Unfortunately, her life is filled with an amount of busy that precludes her from dating and finding Mister Right. Her best friend’s sudden nuptials, however, place an unexpected opportunity for love within arm’s reach.

Kirk Langley is suddenly thrust into being a single parent upon the untimely demise of his brother and sister-in-law. Balancing caring for his six-year-old niece in addition to running his own business leaves little time for dating. But when his closest friend drops the bomb that he’s getting married, Kirk’s forced to spare some time to get to know the maid of honor.

Neither were looking for love, but their close proximity during the wedding planning process draws Calista and Kirk close, allowing them to find in the other what they didn’t know was previously missing.

I really enjoyed Last First Kiss. We all know Nicole Falls is the novella queen so, I was really shocked this was a full novel. Well, a full novel by Nicole's standards. Kirk and Cali were the cutest. Their relationship was so authentic and sweet. Aeryn, Dustin, and the other cast of side characters were hilarious. Last First Kiss was a cute feel good romance. My only complaint is, this book was riddled with grammatical errors. A book should not be released with as many errors as I saw. The author really needs to step up her editing game. Other than that, I highly recommend this book.

What a beautiful story….there was pain and tragedy that actually turned into bliss for a family.

2nd read was the audiobook….absolutely loved the story….tolerated the narration.

I couldn’t get into this no matter how hard I tried. I didn’t like Aeryn & Dustin( i don’t even know why) or believed in their 3 weeks love so I got annoyed anything their wedding was brought up and considering Cali & Kurt’s love journey revolved around the wedding , you can just imagine. I really enjoyed the parts that didn’t involve that damn wedding lol and I will probably give it another go some other day.

What a beautiful story. Although the beginning was a bit slow for me, I thought this was a beautiful story. It felt like I was watching a movie. Ciel and Kirk...beautiful. I loved Cali. She was super chill and laid-back, but also no nonsense. Loved her and Aeryn friendship. This was a real feel good love story. The only criticism I'll say is that I wanted way more of Kirk and Cali. I meant more interaction between them and Baby Blue. Cause their interaction didn't really start till chapter 7 and there are 13 chapters (and epilogue) but over all, this was pretty cute. This was my first full length by Nicole Falls and I can't wait for more of her work.

What sweet love story! Honestly swoon worthy type read. It’s one of those it’s meant to be and everything falls in line. I was soo happy for Cali because she was finally able to live for herself and find love. In the book Cali talks about reading romance novels and not giving up on being a hopeless romantic. Then Kirk comes into her life and turns things around for the better. I love a good feels book and this is definitely one to come back to!

My 2nd book by Nicole. So many funny moments, so many cute moments. I loved me some Ciel aka Baby Blue.
There were parts a little confusing I had to reread, mainly because there's a large amount of characters and nicknames but nothing to take away from the quality of her writing style.
Nicole knowwwws she can write a book. Now let me go see what else I can one click by her.

Good

I enjoyed this story. I so liked Cali and Kirk. They were a good couple. Aeryn and Dustin were great; eventhough, they got engaged quick. It shows there might just be some truth to this love at first sight. Good read.

Just being with you make my whole life shine

Come through Nicyoncé with a HEA worthy of me keeping this song on constant replay! I love the way these two fell in love. Neither were expecting it but they weren’t fighting it either. This feel good novel made my August! 💕

Cute

I enjoyed Kirk and Cali's story. Not exactly a slow burn but they didn't rush things either, which was wonderful.

I loooooove this book

It is the perfect romance. Not too mushy and fairytale but just the perfect amount. I love the body positivity in the book. It just drew me in and I could not put it down. I read it in one sitting.

I’m in love!

This book was all about Kirk and Cali, everyone else was just extra. They were absolutely made for each other and the fact that I sing this Tamia song to my husband ALL THE TIME is just a plus! Such a great love at last story. Aeryan and D too.😉

3.5 ⭐️ I've been especially hard on my latest romance reads lately, but there have been some glimmers of light here and there. Finally, I came across this little jewel and fell in love. It gave me all of the feels and everything I seek in romance - getting to know each other, chemistry, dating, sweet gestures, growing attraction ...with a pinch of laughter, friendship, family, swooning and something extra to endear and connect me to the characters.

Cali and Kirk were so cute! They were thrown together by their recently engaged friends. I liked that this wasn't an insta-love situation. They got to know each other over time while helping with the wedding plans. Things just kinda happened naturally, and it was a slow build up as the relationship part didn’t kick in until the 1/2 way mark. But, everything else kept my attention so it wasn't a big deal.

Outside of the romance, the characters were so lovable. Kirk was just an all around great guy. I loved how invested he was in taking good care of his niece, Ciel, and helping her deal with the loss of her parents. I could really relate to Cali, being the one who does everything for everyone, prioritizing all others over self. GOD I CAN RELATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So it was nice for her to be able to step back a bit to focus on her own life.

My only gripe is that the story seemed to end once the relationship started. I would've loved more of them coming together, being together and falling in love. This would’ve worked better as a full story, instead of novella. If it’s a novella then the romance should start sooner.

The author and narrators were new-to-me. I enjoyed the story and narration was great! It was short and sweet and I was able to start/finish in one day. Another one for the #indiespinesreadathon!!

4.5 stars!

There are three main reasons I liked Last First Kiss by Nicole Falls.

There was a mention of General Hospital early in this book and everybody knows how much I still like me some GH, so score one!

Second reason? That little Ciel was the cutest fictional little girl I’ve liked in a long time. And what about her nickname? Baby Blue! Score two!

Third, and perhaps most importantly, this book is named after one of my favorite Tamia songs. If you never dedicated a Tamia song to someone, were you ever really in love?

Now after those three reasons, is there even any reason for a proper review? Because I feel like this is sufficient enough to tell you to read this book.

Calista is a hopeless romantic if her love of romance novels and movies are any indication. She’s single after a 10-year relationship ended. She’s not looking for love and is perfectly content with her book baes. However, love finds her with Kirk. After a family tragedy, Kirk is tasked with the responsibility of raising his adorable niece, the aforementioned Ciel.

Calista’s best friend is getting married and she’s the maid of honor. The best man? Kirk.

As with every Nicole Falls novel, we are guaranteed quite a few belly laughs and a pop culture reference or two. The characters were down the earth, the circumstances were heart-tugging and overall, it was a real feel-good novel.

Despite her own dumpster fire of a love life, (librarian) Calista Franklin is a hopeless romantic. Unfortunately, her life is filled with an amount of busy that precludes her from dating and finding Mister Right, like her mom’s recent kidney failure diagnosis and treatments. Her best friend’s sudden nuptials, however, place an unexpected opportunity for love within arm’s reach. (Coffee Shop owner) Kirk Langley is suddenly thrust into being a single parent upon the untimely demise of his brother and sister-in-law, per their video wills. Balancing caring for his six-year-old niece Ciel, who is suffering selective mutism, in addition to running his own business leaves little time for dating.

Would have received higher rating with better editing, less grammatical errors

Big hearts

I just love Calista and Kirk together. They have such big hearts, and I adore the way that they love on Ciel, each other, and their families. It wasn't insta- love for them, but the attraction was their from the start. They took their time getting to know each other better and then love was added. Kirk had some serious shoes to fill and he stepped in and did a wonderful job. He learned as he went and had a good support system. Love happened to those least expected as in the case of Aeryn and Dustin, but it was so good to witness. This book showed love, wit, laughter, trust, support, and unfortunate reality. However, unfortunate reality can be overcome with good friends and family.

I will say I was disappointed by this book. As soon as I knew it was coming out I was on the look out; very pumped to read it.

My issues were:
It too long for the main couple Cali and Kirk to show interest in each other. And once they did and was in a relationship, I think the book focused too much on the secondary characters. And I did like Dustin and Aeryn but I feel like they go more focus than the leads.

So although Cali and Kirk were cool and I liked both of them individually and together the way things were integrated was kind of off.

I like Nicole so when she comes out with her next book I'll give it a read but this was left me a little unsatisfied

Ciel got me

Ciel had to be my favorite. Everything she went through, her coping mechanisms to deal with that pain was sad. Once she had her breakthrough, I almost broke down. Cali was a sweetheart all around. She deserved all the happiness, especially after dealing with that Mess, literally. Kirk was a stand up guy, taking on the responsibility of raising his niece was commendable. His parents were funny. Dustin and Aeryn were sure about their connection from day one. This was a feel good story with little drama, it definitely made you want to root for the couples' and Ciel's happiness.

This is my first book from author Nicole Falls and I was very impressed! I listened to the audiobook of Last First Kiss and I am glad that I did. The book itself is a little slow in the beginning, so I think I would've bailed on a physical copy. Because of the audiobook, which had amazing narrators, I got a very cute HFN romance novel with compassionate diverse characters. I highly recommend Last First Kiss.

And another one...(in my DJ Khalid voice)

I am a fan of this author’s work because she writes real life. Cali and Kirk both had major issues happening in their families and them finding each other was like a much needed cold drink on a hot day. I love that it was a progressive love...unlike Dustin and Aeryn. The supporting characters were interesting, the issues were relatable, and you wanted it to be their last first kiss, so go ahead and read this one! 5 stars for sure⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

So, I can see how others would gush over this book, but it just wasn't for me. To me, it was kind of boring. I found myself skimming through the last 30% of the book. It was really a Hallmark movie in book form. I like my romance with a bit of grit. The "grit" Kirk gave came out of left field and didn't seem to fit the persona we read the whole book. The whole Kim situation was weird to me, I didn't see the big deal or that it added much to the book tbh. Overall, not a bad book but just not for me.

Sweet story

So adorable and it touched home for me as well. Cali was turned off of relationships due to her past one. Poor Kirk just had a family crisis that took him away from relationships all together for a while. Then they find they have something in common in a child they both loved and adored that brought them together with the help of their best friends. What a great ending and beautiful story!

Nicole does it again!

How does this girl keep managing to write such amazing stories laced with wit and humor? Cali and Kirk are couple goals! Their openness to try love again after being hurt was beautiful. And Kirk is book bae for how he stepped up for Ciel (I loved her name and the meaning). I only wish Nicole would have given me one scene where either Kimberly, Messiah or Shaquida got their ass whooped. I’m not picky. Any one of them would have worked. LOL

This book will not disappoint

This book was so good from the first word until the last. I laughed with Cali and Aeryn. Cried with Kirk and Ciel. Got tired of Kimberly along with everybody else. Felt happiness when Kirk and Cali relationship grew. I felt like I friend or family member with all the emotions I felt while reading. This is just what I was looking for when I selected this book and it did not disappoint.

All the feels

It's been awhile since a book has made me cry but I found myself tearing up several times. The love displayed between not just Kirk and Cali but how everyone rallied around that baby was beautiful! I did wish Cali had given that Kim girl the business one good time but, eh, I guess lol. Again, an overall great read, wished it was longer and hopefully I'll see these characters in another book if only for an update ❤️

Good read

Cali and Kirk's love journey was cute. I think it was funny how he was kind of scared to approach her in that way, but once he did he didn't hold back. I loved Baby Blue and her personality. Aeryn and Dustin were too much for me lol
I couldn't stand Kim and was glad when Ryn gave her her walking papers

Loved it

This story was as beautiful as it was refreshing . The blind double date that leads to romance. I cried tears of joy when Ciel decided that she was ready to talk, as well as her making fast friends with Camari. It was pretty cool to see that Cedric's wife had a super dope name 😏 . Great work as always.
