This one was ok. I don't know. Amanda was kind of a moron and everyone talked so much about nothing. It made no sense to me, she inherits a gorgeously amazing cabin fully furnished and the first day she decides to organize a garage sale and get rid of everything. WTH? She hadn't even decided whether she was keeping the home or not.. And have the electricity turned on, for God's sake. While I enjoyed the scenery and some of the characters, this book missed a lot of the marks The last few chapters were more ridiculous than thrilling and I was rolling my eyes til my contacts dried out. And am I the only reader who realizes that a recovering alcoholic shouldn't be offered, or accept, a wine cooler? Yeeeeeesh. First (and possibly last) from this author.

What the heck!!! What! I'm still shook. This book was absolutely gripping. I was literally on the edge of my seat the entire time. I'm not sure how this book ended up in my Kindle Library, but I'm so glad I finally read it! Absolutely amazing! I love books that keeps me guessing. I truly could NOT figure out who was the bad guy, and that's new for me. If you're into suspense with some jumpy moments, grab this one but I wouldn't advise to reading it alone at night. Lol

a single mother is the target of a vengeful killer. Amanda is a widowed mother. She and her young son come from Chicago to visit her mother and stepfather in a pastoral setting while she settles a former husband's estate. the sole beneficiary, she inherits a gorgeous cabin. But her stay is ruined by someone dete3rmined to make her pay fora nightmare from the past.

Slow-moving and silly, this is an unsuspenseful story. There is too much talk and not enough action. Amanda is a dolt and her interactions are uninteresting. Even worse the killer's ire is misplaced. but by the time it resolved I just did not care. Pass.

Too many grammatical errors. The first half of the book was dreadfully boring. The second half was dreadfully unbelievable. Very underwhelming.

I found this book whilst it was on offer for free.
It's a really well written crime thriller and a great introduction to an author that, previously I wasn't aware of. I especially liked the slow reveal through the story about why the antagonist was targeting who he was. It helped explain how things had got to the point they were in the story.

The book was mostly dialogue and it was terribly written. Every single conversation felt so unnatural. None of the characters were portrayed very well and, as a result, I didn’t care about any of them. There were so many random details of their life and the town they were included and absolutely none of it was relevant.

The plot was also extremely weak and I predicted who the stalker was going to be at an early point, so the whole climax felt pointless.

Supposed to be a thriller mystery vibe. Kind of okay but the main character is a little annoying and it felt like there was a lot of useless dialogue filling it. Didn’t love

Overview:
Amanda and her son Kevin leave their home in Chicago and return to Summit Lake to spend time with Amanda's mother and her husband Rocky. While Amanda is staying there things slowly start to go wrong as Amanda finds out she’s being stalked and toyed with. A mysterious man set to get revenge on her stops at nothing to achieve it. Amanda doesn’t know who it is or why they’re taunting her. She tries to solve the mystery while simultaneously dealing with the newly obtained cabin her ex husband left her after his passing. With secrets being unveiled and lives being placed on the line; Amanda has to stop her stalker before someone gets hurt. .
~~~~~
Characters:
Amanda is a single mother to her son Kevin. Amanda returns to Summit Lake because Brad, her ex-husband recently passed away and left his entire inheritance to her. And unfortunately, when Amanda remarried and had Kevin, that husband had an early passing as well.
Amanda meets Parker while staying in Summit Lake. The two were highschool sweethearts. He’s a single father of his son Austin. Parker and Amanda flirt a bit while she’s back in town and the two have frequent grillings and the sons form a friendship.
Amanda’s mother is an overly anxious and terrified parental role who wasn’t the best mother while Amanda was young. She remarried to Rocky, a protective and sweet man who treats Amanda’s mother better than her biological father did. Rocky is on a strict diet and apparently that’s the only thing his character talks about.
~~~~~
My Opinion:
This might actually have been the worst book I’ve read. Until now, I didn’t understand what people meant when they said a book and/or character was dull and flat. This book was poorly written from start to finish. There’s a lot of things that I could talk about. Firstly, the plot is boring, slow, repetitive, unrealistic, and unorganized. The first 3/4 of the book is just people running around like chickens with their heads chopped off. The characters just run errands, have a barbeque, or swim/fish in the lake. It’s boring and could have been either shortened or provided more sustenance to the story. And then the last part of the book comes out of nowhere and everything feels rushed and unrealistic. Also, at that point I didn’t even care about who the stalker was, I was just trying to finish the book.
All the characters were flat and didn’t talk about anything interesting or worthwhile. The character’s personality was basically based on 1 thing and that was it. Amanda’s mom- Overly worried and frightened about everything. Rocky- He was on a diet and wanted to protect his family with his shotgun. Parker- Grilling, fishing, and being a vet. Etc. All they ever talked about were the same things. The book was extremely dialogue heavy and it was terribly written while also barely providing substantial importance to the book. An example is when Amanda would be faced with some issue like cleaning out the house. She'd think to herself, "maybe I’ll do it later” or something and then her mom will say “no do it now” and Amanda will completely be easily influenced and be like “you’re right”. That happens multiple times and it’s just dull and annoying. The author also uses the word “unfortunately” constantly. I felt like I read that word every other line at one point. The author would also skip out on the story and simply just say “I explained it to him” which is fine for authors to do but this book does it too much.
What’s unfortunate is I think this book had potential to be good. The uncovered mystery at the end was decent and had a good plot twist. I didn't see it coming and I thought it had decent enough motives behind it. I think the leading up to it was just poorly executed. For starters, the book is written from 2 perspectives (Amanda and the stalker) but except for 2 chapters everything was written from Amanda’s POV. The book should have included more from the stalker in the earlier parts of the book. It would have helped to add a dynamic feel to it and actually serve as a purpose for writing in 2 perspectives. That way we would see more of the motives behind the stalker and it wouldn’t seem so rushed at the end. If done correctly the stalker could have added so much more throughout the entire book rather than just the end. I also think the author fumbled with the potential to utilize the various men who are mentioned throughout the story to try and confuse the reader. The men (I’ll keep it a secret) should have been more confusing. Some shouldn’t have been included at all... And the actual stalker should have been included more. It’s all just very aggravating.
I’ll never read this book again. It’s infuriating and not worth my time.

O livro parte da premissa de que nem sempre conheces as pessoas que te são próximas e isto é também o elemento mais assustador. Achei a narrativa muito consistente e o final mesmo surpreendente

Flew through the book and enjoyed parts. It started off well and I thought it was going to be a good thriller. By 3/4 through it felt like the author was still trying to decide where the plot would go and who would be the villain.

" 'Your a monster!' She cried rushing after him." Yes I know, You might be wondering what this all is about. I was surprisingly gelled in the story as soon as I started reading. It all started quickly and peacefully. Until she returned from her sweet home to her mom's place and thingy started to fall creepily.

Amanda, was a great mom who had a smart son named Kevin. They all spent time freely until a stalker continuously tried to murder her. But she never gave up on anything. Her son, parents, friends, She kept surviving confidently for her loved ones.

By taking a comparing look from this story to other thrillers I have read, this is AMAZING! It kept flowing not letting to drop any hint making us readers even more suspicious and curious. Then- I'm not gonna ruin the story for you. I highly recommend this book for thriller lovers! Enjoy reading!

Book: Forget me Not
Read By: Ebook
Author: Kristen Middleton
Narrator: Na
Genre: Thriller and Mystery
Main Characters: Amanda
Recommend: yes
Spice: 🌶️️
Age recommendation: 18-30+ Years
My feelings:

I love a good thriller. Honestly nothing better then curling up on a rainy day, reading yourself into a state of fright.

“Brad left his laptop in our diner several weeks ago. We didn’t know whose it was at first, so Michael opened it up, to see if he could identify the owner. Apparently, Brad hadn’t logged out of a website he’d visited.” She waited for someone to pass us by and then continued. “It was filled with filthy pictures of children.”

I loved the mcs, it was great to see Amanda creating relationships and not progressing with them. Strange to say I know, but good all in all.

“My name is Ben Shaw. I believe you were married to my brother a few years ago.”

I didnt see the killer coming, not even a little bit. I had assumed it would be his twin all along, but nope!

“I’ve asked my wife why bad things happen to good people and she thinks it’s to wake us up. She says that we have the ability to change the world and find happiness. We just have to work and clean up the negative areas in our life. Once you find inner peace, you can project an outer peace.”

This book takes you to the dark underbelly of the world we live in and shines a light on the victims, and the people it affects around them. I thought it was very well done and would totally recommend.

Vraiment pas un bon livre. J'ai trouvé qu'il était mal écrit et que c'était très long avant d'avoir des développements.

3.5 ⭐s. I can't believe that was the same author who wrote Plaint Z. This one was so much better in my opinion. I probably wouldn't have given this author a second listen if I had realized. If anyone is interested in this Audiobook or some of her others she has a lot of her book free on YouTube. It's not a bootleg Channel either, it's the author herself! If you search her it comes right up! Happy reading and listening!!!

Interesting premise, chaotic ending.

I liked Amanda and her bond with her mom, step dad, and son. There was a fun cast of side characters.

I suspected everyone at one point or another--even had reasons to suspect the, which was pretty neat...And also made it a little disappointing when the antagonist was finally revealed. It made sense but while motive was there, the antagonist themselves came a bit out of left field for me.

The ending itself was built up to but then a bunch of other things were thrown in that felt really out of place. There was maybe one reference a handful of pages earlier to tie it in but aside from that, it really had nothing to do with anything and had no payoff.

I also spotted a few continuity errors and typos towards the end, which surprised me because I hadn't noticed any earlier.

The next book in this series looks fantastic.

This story began quite interesting, and I must say, the concept was really good, and having it all happening in a little town where everybody knows each other was a good idea.

Different POVs, though... it was there where this book got derailed. The inner monologues were stilted and self-justifying. Instead of letting the story shown the motives and reasons, they were told to us in a very detailed and annoying way.

It was entertaining, yes. but really, the final chapters were absolutely ridiculous.

I'll probably try another book by this author some time, though. Just to be sure :P

The narrator, Claire Riley, was mostly good, except for some weird pauses here and there.

This story had a good twist ending, but that's about all it had to make up for the constant repetitive "he said" and "she replied". This story was a good concept and could have been so much better. Parts of it didn't make any sense. Why would someone who inherits a cabin fully furnished hold a garage sale the next day when they hadn't even decided whether they were going to stay in the cabin. Why did we need to know what a character thinks and then have them repeat the thought out loud? Not my favorite novel. I hope the 2nd in the series is better.

"Forgettable"

After a slow start, this one turned into a romantic suspense. Apart from the stalker, I could have slipped into the Hallmark channel in error. As for Amanda, her character straight up annoyed me. Not for me, I'm afraid.

Good story, slow unimportant writing at times. I found 3 words spelled wrong in this book. Very unusual for that many word's. Will try this Author's books again, but not right away.

I didn’t love it.
I wanted more from this book.
It wasn’t a huge shock when it was discovered who the killer was because we barely met him in the story.

This began with a lot of promise but then it's drifted into the realms of being too farfetched to be believable for me so I've given up on it at 37%. When I reached this point she was telling her EIGHT year old son that she'd just been shot with a couple of darts and been injected with something by some stranger in the woods, who then took her dog......she'd have to be some sort of unfit mother to do this !! It's ridiculous. I don't have an eight year old but I am pretty sure you'd not be in any rush to tell him something like this !!
It's not without mistakes, either. Sack written and not sac then ear shot not earshot.
Then she still does THAT thing some American writers persist in doing where they leave off the word you, and for example, write, "You bring the card with ?" She also wrote "As well as could be" when I believe she means as well as could be expected, which has a totally different interpretation. As with another book of hers I read there are words dropped from sentences as well, like to or in.
Another strange thing was a mother writing about life with her son where she suddenly said his name again....it wasn't needed: "......it gave Kevin and I a chance to really talk. When he wasn't at school, he usually hung out with his friends, played baseball, or watched television. As for me, when I wasn't feeding him, or chauffeuring Kevin around......" Really quite a peculiar thing to do. Someone in this inherits around $300,000 but then decides that she was going to have a garage sale as "A little extra cash wouldn't hurt, either." Clearly she didn't inherit enough !!
The child featured in this, Kevin, was a horrid little beast. All he did was complain and grumble at everything he was ever told or asked to do. He needed a short, sharp slap !! It got tiresome being around him.
The cover is a lovely one but sadly I couldn't finish it because I stopped believing in it.

This book started off really good.

I had just finished 2 big fantasy series back to back, and I needed a little pallet-cleanser. Also I had just recently gotton a kindle and was dying to try it out. I was really in the mood for a thriller, and I stumbled upon this one.

The writing was okay. Was it beautiful and poëtic? Absolutely not. But I also would never expect a thriller to be that way. I don't read thriller to become enchanted with the writing.
The writing was simplistic and made ut easy for me to get through.

The characters were very likeable. Which made this book very enjoyable.
The first 75% of the book was great. Amazing storyline and plot.
The ending had alot of potential, but I felt as if it was a bit rushed. However, that does not take away fron the fact that I thoroughly enjoyed myself while reading this book.

If the ending was better done, it might have been a 4 stars, however, like I have already mentioned, the ending was very rushed and all over the place (still a good ending, but it was a bit frustrating).

All of that aside, I would still very much reccomend this book. It's a nice pallete-cleanser, and that is exactly what I needed this book to be.

Also, I have never read a book as quickly as I have this one. Maybe it is because I read it on my kindle? Or the writing style? I don't know. But I did keep longing to continue reading this book over the last few days.
